In this tutorial i will be explaining how to calculate IGT (In Game Time) and for this example i will be using Adventure mode. Tho it should be the same for every category. I will be showing a run of mine to make it a bit easier to understand. First off you need to make sure you record your run. Which is already required in the categories. I today will be calculating this run right here: https://www.speedrun.com/ssbm_ce/run/z1ooej7m and the time calculator i use can be found here: http://www.grun1.com/utils/timeCalc.html
If you use the time calculator for Melee. You should have an option to the left for Add values (+) or Subtract Values (-). For this first half we will be subtracting so check the subtract values box.
When we look at the first split. You will see it starts at 7 minutes 0 seconds and 0 milliseconds. https://imgur.com/a/uioceHF Set the (one value) option to Minutes https://imgur.com/a/D9cKXHL and note down 7 on the calculator go to the video and scroll to when you reach the end of the split where it says (Game!)
Look at the time you got, in my case i got 6 minutes 31 seconds and 76 milliseconds. Write down the time you got on the second row which in my case is 6:31.76 You should then get a result which will be your IGT of that level. My time was 28 seconds and 24 milliseconds. https://imgur.com/a/VrSNszP
Note down the split in your notes and do the same for every split. Keep in mind that not all levels start at 7 minutes. Some do 4 minutes and the Brinstar escape starts at 40 seconds. For that one you have to change the single digit back to seconds and have the first value at 40. Once you got every split ready, something like this https://imgur.com/a/NLU1YZw go to to time calculator and put the mode to Add value (+). Write down all of your splits in the calculator like this and you will get your final time: https://imgur.com/a/hP8l3Y9
My final time ended up being 5 minutes 00 seconds and 69 milliseconds.
Hope this tutorial helped you and if you have any questions. Feel free to send me a message.
Questions and Answers: What happens when you loose all stocks in the speedrun?
If you game over in the speedrun then you have to plus the time you got til you game over'd and the final time when you beat the level. For example. You play on a stage and you game over 53 seconds and 24 milliseconds in one of the stages. Then take that time plus the level when you cleared it. So if you cleared the level in 1 minute 5 seconds and 23 milliseconds. Then you just add the times together. Which in this case would become 1 minute 58 seconds and 47 milliseconds.
The issues Around the start of this year we discovered a pretty big issue related to the updated versions of the Slippi Emulator. Certain levels in Classic mode had messed up spawn locations to where characters would spawn in the middle of the stage or even in the blastzone beating the stage in
