So, what do you suggest? A split between 60 and 120 fps?
IMO its not hard to see that with time, as computers get better and cheaper, only people that dont like knife strats will be motivated to play in 60 fps. Even though in 60 fps knife is also broken and those runners should be asking for a knifeless category, again IMO.
Its would be nice if everybody could have the best possible setup atm. But thats impossible, we all know that. And this is not a problem just with speedrunning, I cant think of a single sport or competition (maybe chess) where everybody is able to compete at the same level. The best we can do is offer a decent threshold that most people are able to compete, without limiting the performance, this is pure tradeoff.
Well i have to say i play in 60 fps and i know what you're talking about. I try to get better time every day even knowing that I will never be in the top for my pc. Since the hardware is old. And right now I do not have enough money for an upgrade hardware. If I could get potato graphics, but it does not give me more than 90 fps in fights against bosses, I've finally decided to continue improving as I can since going to 120 fps is not viable for me. Sorry for my bad english
All good points we're happy to consider, but I still want to wait awhile and see the direction the boards take just from amount of runners and routes. I don't really want to make the majority ever have to cater to the minority (goes both ways, no matter which frame rate is most dominant in terms of popularity)
Pc has always been a pay2win sort of deal honestly..I mean look at re7 among other games..if you pc game and speedrun you should be prepared to put down money to keep up. Same with console..pro and One X run the game better than the base of both console..if they wanna be serious then they will have to by the next upgrade etc
FWIW 60 FPS will always be alive on the console boards, and anybody on PC that wants/has to play 60 FPS can still compare their runs to console runs because the IGT isn't affected by hardware or loading times. The only difference between the two would be menuing, which would be an easily negligible time difference.
Except none of the consoles hold a solid 60 FPS, unlike PC which is more likely to do so. That affects times.
I think it's way too pre-mature to assume anything is going to "die" with this game, let alone people running the game at a frame rate.
One X and Pro can barely keep 60 at points and menuing can be crucial ti minor time save down the road.
Because this has been discussed MULTIPLE TIMES through MULTIPLE threads. If things change they will change. At this moment, the board is fine where it is at this time. PC will be pay2win and always will be..if you wanna be top then get to upgrading. A lot of games are like this like RE7 etc.. If it changes then so be it but for now it stays 60-120 on one board.
In as far as the boards changing in regards to frame rate, we have all displayed how we feel and the mods have told us to wait. Now I’m regards to me I will return to Claire a 60 when I get wr for 120 or my time is beat on 60
It is not? Are you blind or new to speedrunning? LMAO. RE7, RE 3 and other games have had MANY discussions on the rules before and after stuff. People just want to get there way on stuff just like with RE7 and RE3 etc. This board is legit as bad as RE3 and is hella good for a laugh with how some people can be. I dont think any of you guys realize that what so ever.
And yes, MANY Pc games are Pay2Win in terms of FPS etc like RE1 Remaster, RE0 etc. Pessi is not doing those games cause, guess what, his PC cant keep 120 FPS constantly and lost several WRs for both games for pc cause of it. There are other example of that as well.
Congrats, you chose what you want to run and enjoy doing it. Simple as that. We are keeping the game as fair as possible cause not everyone can run it at 120 and not everyone can run at 60 however...it isnt honestly worth even making a sub cat for FPS in my personal opinion simple as that. We are right, we make the rules and you decide whether or not to follow them or do your own thing. Simple as that.
Now, for the love of god, STOP WITH THE FPS THREADS NOW since it seems to always lend to people bitching (the same few) about it with most people fine with the boards.
