Im curious what would be the best 3rd party N64 controller or the best place to buy an actual n64 contoller. I don't want to continue using an Xbox Controller, and use the official option.

Mexico

The Hori retro bit is the best third party controller for and only throws Other third parties are terrible and they will be a big waste of money bc they will get worn down easy So I recommend getting a original n64 controller with a raphnet (n64 to USB adapter) Raphnet: https://www.raphnet-tech.com/products/n64_usb_adapter_gen3/index.php Controller: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=original+n64+controller+tight+stick&_sacat=0 eBay is the best place to buy n64 controllers unless you have a pawn shop around you $35 for a controller is a bit over average but you can find a controller for $26-30 Edit: if you want a original Hori it will be $70, Hori’s are best used for throws Gameplay with hori’s aren’t the best

Ebay has some official N64 controllers. I wouldn't really recommend third party controllers. From what I've experienced the joystick is a pain to move around and the buttons stand out farther from the controller.

Hori is good too, it's primarily used for Bowser fights but I'd figure it's fun to use for general gameplay too.

Original n64 controllers are the best in my personal opinion. I have and do use a hori(for throws only) but I know lots of people use it for full runs. I personally prefer the original controller as that's what I'm used to.

One of my buddy's uses a gamecube controller with an adapter and he loves it. I personally think that the C buttons are much more consistent and user friendly than a c stick for setting up angles, but that's just my personal preference. Third party controllers are generally unusable.

I buy all my controllers off ebay. Be careful with which ones you buy though as lots of the used ones are pretty shit. Depending on your budget you can usually find a new in box controller for around 150$. If you want to extend the life of controllers, use a hori for throws.

i myself use the brawler 64 however you need to mod that controller by removing the turbo buttons t also if you ever make the switch to n64 and want the closest thing to an Xbox controller you can get I recommend the brawler as it is designed to look and feel like an xbox 360 controler hears a pik https://aaltomies.files.wordpress.com/2018/03/dsc_8706.jpg?w=863&h=601 but most of the pros use a real n64 controler than halve a swich to use a seprit controler for throws cus the stick on the n64 controler wers down to quickly however simp modid his controler to use a metel stick that never wers down if you need a cheap real n64 controller you can get the nock off's wich wile i haven't used in run fell just like the real thing just with a slightly more plasticity hold feeling to them
