I'm not going to speedrun this game yet, but why isn't there an any% category, There should be, right?
A far as I know the game used to have Any% but due to glitches or ACE it was decided to name some categories after the amount of levels (Exits) you collect to beat the game.
11 Exit would be the equivalent to Any% as 11 is the minimum amount of exits needed to complete the game without ACE; similarly 96 Exit would be the equivalent to 100%.
There might be some discussions about which is which% but I mean for a new player is ok to think 11 Exit as Any% and 96 Exit as 100%, eventually if you jump into the game you'll get more familiar with the categories.
Good Luck!
Thanks! I might get the original Mario World on my SNES I totally forgot I created this post :) Are there any guides to speedrunning this game? One more thing... Do you only have to have 11 Exits to fight the final Bowser? Thanks
After beating Bowser the only way you can return to the game is by reseting the console, after the reset you should have a 7 Exit save file since the last save point on 11 Exit is the Donut Secret Ghost House.
Bowser doesn't reward an exit. The levels to beat are: YI2 - YI3 - YI4 - Iggy - DP1S - DS1S - DSGH - SW1S - SW2S - SW3S - SW4S - Bowser.
About guides, there's the SMW Speedrun Wiki and you can see other categories routes and useful strats on individual levels. Keep in mind that it is a little outdated but still a great source of strats.
SW means Star World, the specials are usually named with their english names Gnarly, Tubular, Way Cool and so on.
