I have Ocarina of time on an emulator and I have a problem... in the start menu, link is not visible... there's a black square blocking it. I tried JPN, USA and EUR and the problem still persist. My question is: can I use this version to speedrun? Anything else is fine.
Its normal depending on what version of the game you have if you play project64 1.7 and play the 1.2 version of ocarina of time link should be visible
Yes, it's a graphical glitch that occurs on some emulators.
Pj64 1.6 (along with 1.7) is allowed provided that you are using default settings, meaning that you can't change the graphics plugin to perform GIM, for example.
There is an additional restriction that applies to emulators, and is only relevant if you're using a 1.0/1.1 ROM. You are not allowed to use glitches that are exclusive to 1.0 or 1.1, including glitches like Early Eyeball Frog. You may use 1.0/1.1 ROMs provided that you do not perform glitches that are exclusive to those versions. (there is a high probability that you have a 1.0 or 1.1 ROM)
So briefly, if I don't do those glitch, it's allowed, right? the black square doesn't matter.
On top of that, there's a few glitches useful for speedruns that 1.2 can do that 1.0 cannot, like damage OI and drinking a fake potion. Also, the graves in the graveyard are notoriously annoying in 1.0.
To make your search easier, look for an OoT rom with "Rev B" (or revision B) in the title. That's 1.2.
Thank you for your response. I actually tried Rev B before the version 1.0. The only problem with Rev B (and Rev A) is that it takes literally 5-10 sec to pause the game. I don't know if it's only me but for that, I can't use Rev B.
I am trying to find a way to get oot rom of 1.2 or 1.0 either jap or english it said the download link taken down is there an other way getting the rom
i have two different issues with 1.6:
- The screen flashes white for one frame when Link is standing in grass and I open the pause menu.
- Going into Fullscreen mode stretches the picture instead of staying at 4:3.
I have two PCs, an old one with Win7 and a new one with Win10 and the issues are the same on both. Also,PJ64 version 2.2 does not have these issues.
Any help to fix these would be appreciated.
