Been watching a few of the sub-8.xx vids and they all seem to do something I can't quite figure out how to do - hit the bosses from the side.

Nearly every vid shows them hitting, say, Magica in mid flight/height pattern, but everytime I try, I take damage and she doesn't.

What am I missing? What's the technique here?

When you're falling downwards and only press Down on the D-Pad+B for Pogo you won't take any damage and will hit the boss the first available frame when they get out of their iframes.

The key is not pressing any other directions on the D-Pad and being in a downwards movement. It's a bit tricky at first, but super helpful and good when you get the hang of it.

Tootoo is correct. It’s the lateral movement that will cause you to take hits from the bosses. You can really take advantage of this, and sometimes seemingly move through the hitbox as long as you’re pogoing in a directly upward trajectory.

So how does it work with Duckula? I tried it and kept getting hit, but it works somehow with other runners.

Is there some other trick to him?
