PC specifics - FPS question!

So now that the game is out and I'm getting a new gfx card in a few days I could go from 30 FPS to 60 or variable. Is there allready a verdict on wether the 60FPS are faster as they are on REmaster or is it the same for real this time?

I managed to get it to 55 FPS on some areas (thanks GTX 745, I trusted you ¤gnarf¤) yet it did not essentially feel that much faster, just a tad smoother. Everything else in terms of runs is quite self explanatory, just as usual the tech side of the PC version.

Would be cool to hear what's more desirable, and wether to wait for the new card or start runs beforehand if 30FPS is essentially the same =)

Edit: Also, we should get the forum background a bit darker, hard to read comments with my withered 23 year old eyes Kappa

Unfortunately, I won't be able to help since my laptop can barely peak above 30 FPS for this game. Just to be safe I would run at 60/Variable. I'm not too familiar with Zero so text is something I'll have to look into. I will say that the text on this game is less mash reliant than REmaster. Like, the format of how it displays seems more akin to the original REmake and possibly the first iteration of Zero. It just instantly pops up with the text as opposed to old fashion scrolling which requires you to hit cancel/run/confirm or spam the action key to make it go quicker..

On Altria's note: On my playthrough I found it really hard to even try and mash through any text. Often, as you say, it just pops up and you are pretty much prone to insta mashing the first choice in puzzles and such.

Edit: I'd like to adress a few things that I very much like (and hate) about Zero, here as well:

  • No door skipping

It's finally nice to just have to roll with door loading times instead of losing time to runners that skip better ( Kappa)

  • No Stair Skating

God I hated that on REmaster, didn't even attempt anything on it just because of that. As much as I love speedrunning, blisters on my thumb because I had to mash every other minute... nah :D

  • Dodges

Well, the lunge dodge still works on Zero but I feel like the grab-frames (certified paxton-speak, patend pending Kappa ) are a little larger than on REmaster. After the lunge Zombies get me from weird angles, and don't get me started on leeches, which basically train in on you if you get too close to a corner with them. But hey, that's pretty much gonna be what makes and breaks runs, especially the kitchen in the training center, hot damn, grab fest galore.

Other than that the game runs very smoothly and the only BS moment is probably the Training Range, where you get like a split second to react to the hunter. If done a bit clever the free-movement of the Leech Queen should not be a problem at the last boss fight, played it tonight on hard mode, if you get a feeling for the time rebecca needs to reach and interact with the valves you can get enough room between you and the queen ;)

Actually, I might be wrong about the text being instant all the time :/ . It does seem slower and mashing doesn't help much like it does in REmaster though.

120FPS runs the game faster. Strats are specific to FPS as well.

Yeah, confirmed, lotta strats only work on higher frames, works now thanks to the new build. Thanks for everybody chiming in to discuss =)
