Allowing knife cheese at 120 was my line, but I got it. Than it was changing setting cheese mid run, now FPS adjustment through out a run. Whats next? Its getting ridiculous. The PC side needs to be addressed a bit more seriously.
Making a rule where players can lower their image quality to maintain 120 during bosses, screams "Give 60 its own category."

Id personally stick with lowering settings in boss fights only as not everyone has the kind of PC that can run the full game with an unwavering 120 FPS I personally stick image quality at 80% running 1080p so thankfully its not a huge issue for me but i do understand it can be for some people but loading 3rd party software mid run just seems silly but i don't see the harm in having an extra category just for fun
In my opinion using software to cap the FPS (like to 120) isn't anywhere near as bad as using that same software to make it cap below what was ever intended to be possible like 5fps, 10fps, etc.
Of course if the runners are then forced to play the entire run in 5 frames per second, I'd wanna see it just for the laugh.
Just making a point here: we're not talking about adding a 10 FPS category for RE2R. That would surely make it to SGDQ 2021 but the point of the topic is changing res to avoid hits/grabs midrun.
Stuff like this is why I've not even bothered submitting a time for anything for this game. Honestly the leaderboards are just meme worthy to me. I know adding a 10fps category is not being discussed, but the fact 10fps is even being discussed in general is just laughable and facepalm worthy. I know it won't happen, but I honestly hope Capcom fix all this stupid shit eventually so we can get back to just running the game properly without all this ridiculous FPS crap.

Lowering fps so enemies cant hit you or grab? Sounds like a no no.
What ever happened to speedrunning a game on vanilla? Uncapping frames just to cheese bosses or make it easier to dodge enemies? Wanting to allow mods. Wow, guys. I'm happy to be playing on console where we actually have obstacles to overcome and bosses to figure out. I'm not trashing runners that's done 120fps or saying they don't have challenges. I just don't know how anything is allowed outside the game's settings. I feel PC should have always been 60fps max and 120fps on extended categories. Altering the game in any way just feels dirty.
Technically speaking uncapping the framerate was a vanilla option for us on PC it was capped at 120 to accomodate for those with lower spec PC's i understand what your saying and to an extent i agree but invalidating runs because someones hardware is better or worse is almost like adding a paywall to the run.
I may be mistaken then. There is an option in the game that lets you set the frames to 120?
As NuZ says there's not a 120 option it's variable the leaderboard caps at 120 as to not give anyone an advantage just for having better hardware a good example is G1 even on 60 fps the knife does good damage to him and 120 makes him laughable so just imagine if it ran at say 300fps which if i set the game to 1080p and 50% image quality i come close to bosses would be a complete joke.
Yes but it's not a ridiculous advantage to the point where your killing bosses in say 3 knife swings (aside from G1)and the game isn't exactly hardware demanding compared to other games released so far this year or even late last year so to the point where most "gaming" PC's could easily run at 1080p 120fps no problem as long as your willing to drop the image quality a smidge which to me isnt a big deal personally.
