Rules for remapping multiple keys to 1 action?

Hi. Just got into running Cuphead yesterday and was interested to know the community's opinion on mapping the same action to more than 1 button.

I would normally count this as advantage, but CupHead is exceptional since you HOLD a single button to fire (unlike Contra), and current mapping configs allow some interesting stuff anyway.

I ask because I use Hori Fighting Commander (https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Fighting-Commander-Officially-Licensed-Microsoft/dp/B01MSEPQ55/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1508100719&sr=8-3&keywords=hori+fighting+commander) which has native remap capability (I can reassign R1 to be a 2nd button for weapon swap via the controller's remap button).

This can also be done using Joy Remapping Software to have like R1 be mapped to a random keyboard letter on a non-Hori/non-remappable controller.

And finally, if someone was motivated, could utilize a keyboard & controller simultaneously (possibly practical if using an external numpad cleverly) in vanilla menu options.

I'm not looking for advantage, and won't do this on any run I'd submit unless approved here prior, but if I can avoid blowing my wrists out spamming L1 for hours on end, I'm all for it.

Thank you for reading.

Macros aren't allowed. Using turbo controllers (or controllers that allow macros) isn't allowed. Keyboard + controller is within the rules.

This game isn't PC-only, and typically games that are PC non-exclusives are played in the console category. And games that are in the console category very rarely allow non-default controllers. The only time i can think of a console game allowing such a think are physical modifications (as in, the only mods are physical carvings made to the controller).

I fully know what you mean. It is kind of stupid that you have to spaming 2 buttons at the same time to for the WSE. I'd recommend waiting for the no WSE category than cheating (which is what that would be... easy 100% efficient Weapon Switching).

I'd say aswell that something like this shouldn't be allowed, as obviously it is nice (and healthy) to switch buttons every once in a while to not go so hard on a specific finger, but that opens up the door to just mashing both buttons simultaneously. It also gets hard to draw the line when allowing certain external bindings. So far, we have mostly told people to stick to "conventional" control methods (keyboard and regular controllers). If you don't have the weakest fingers (which I assume you, as trihex, should have less problems with), it would probably be a good idea to just rebind the weaponswap/shoot button to something else in between runs to not stress a single finger too much.
