You have to start the mission before the call happens. Only then the mission flag will be set to 0. But I am not sure if this can be done in all circumstances. The phonecall should be active, but delayed for some reason, like previous mission just finished or something like that.

Also maybe the method I described won't work at all, then it is about timing. It has to work if you start the mission within 150 ms after the phonecall call thread is started. In this case OMF has to be set to 0.

Btw, I would really appreciate a save with scheduled phonecall to run some tests myself OpieOP

This should be the correct save. I don't know what game version I have though OpieOP

The call should happen at 19:38 if you leave the house immediately

should be after burning desire ( in case i uploaded the wrong save )

Is it really necessary to view a replay when delaying the phonecalls? As Tduva asaid, you can just hold tab to delay it? I could still carry the phonecall with me indoors by just holding tab so it should still work for duping.

Bastant2: I could dupe Fish in a Barrel without replays. I could also shoot and take a call afterwards, I could jump and take the call in mid-air. It seams that replays are unnecessary.

Josh could not dupe Fish in a Barrel the first attempt, the second one went fine. My guess is that you need to stand in the right spot inside the marker, he stood right at the edge and I noticed that if you can start a mission a second time during a cutscene might depend on where in the marker you stand.

Finally, I couldn't keep the NRG after Monster. The despawn areas aren't the problem. My guess is that abandoning a vehicle for too long makes you lose it.

My knowledge used to be that the game only keeps your last car in memory. So I was surprised that when I park a Maverick or NRG 300 meters away from Trucking and take a different car for the rest of the distance to Trucking and then get into the truck for the Trucking mission, the NRG/Maverick is still there waiting for me. That is interesting for duping Verdant Meadows to skip N.O.E (verified to work, doubtful that it is worth it) since you'd drive a fast vehicle to and from Trucking but if you park right at Trucking, you can't make it back to Toreno's Ranch before the 60s time limit for leaving the Truck expires so you need to park it a bit away from Trucking.

Comments on these game mechanics, Nick? :)

Thanks for the save. I was partially right, my explaination was correct. However, unfortunately it's not the only condition for successful OMF change. Only some missions can be exploited by it, because most of them change OMF twice: on mission activation (entering the marker) and on mission start (after fade). Unfortunately both Home Invasion and House Party are not usable for the glitch.

Although my assumption was correct and I will try to modify some save before Grove 4 Life to make duping possible.

On last cars in memory: game generally keeps two latest entered cars unless they are mission tied. In your case, truck from trucking is mission tied and isn't used in player vehicles array, and there was only one vehicle you entered after Maverick/NRG.

Here is a modified save: http://gtasnp.com/JCAkYj The time is 19:10. Exit savehouse, get copbike in garage, start vigilante and finish it before 19:31. If you now start Grove 4 Life between 19:34 and ~19:46, OMF will be set to 0.

Edit: 19:35 is more consistent, also sometimes Grove 4 Life starts twice. Edit2: Grove 4 Life is actually the only storyline mission that can be used for this glitch. The other one with a structure allowing such a trick is Black Project, but there is not girlfriend's house nearby to get a possible phonecall.

So it's useless then :(

Good job finding it though

Trying to dupe Highjack I didn't have a phonecall in the save, so I played through SF answering as little phonecalls as I could, however to get the Monster mission marker, I had to answer Truth, Zero and Jethro before it gave me the Monster phonecall, so basicially I don't have any additional phonecalls left. The phonecall you get for Highjack can be used to set up the dupe, but of course you have to answer it before you can start the mission. So I only had a Catalina phonecall left, which takes a minute to appear. Could any of you keep the faster phonecalls?

The way I did it now is: ¤ After Monster drive to Trucking ¤ Start Trucking (with Highjack Phonecall) ¤ Get in Truck and start driving towards Highjack ¤ Get out on the way to answer the Highjack phonecall ¤ Disconnect the trailer about halfway so the 60s timer starts (but don't change car because it takes 60s for the Catalina phonecall to appear, so the mission would run out before the phonecall, you can switch but have to be careful to do it correctly, not sure when/if it's worth it) ¤ Do the duping stuff once you get to Highjack in the truck (hold TAB to delay answering the call, Trucking ends, start first instance, let go of TAB, mash F to cancel call, without skipping the cutscene until the second instance starts)

Conveniently you don't seem to get traffic during the mission when you dupe Highjack.

It took me about 1:30 (depending on what vehicle you get from the road) to Trucking (getting out of the car, stopping a bit ahead), 30s to start it (from getting out of the car to entering the truck) and about 2:20 back (from entering the truck to having Highjack started twice, depending on truck speed I guess). So about 4:20 for the setup altogether (probably varying a lot depending on RNG), whereas you would start Highjack normally after about 15s (waiting for the phonecall). Could still save some time, but it sure is a long setup.

Are phonecalls also defined in the main SCM with all the missions or somewhere else?

:MOB_xxx so :MOB_SF still applies until Learning to Fly afaik. etc. :MOB_R (forgot the other two letters) for the troll calls and other calls that you get 1:01-1:03 after taking them.

That's a relief, I thought we were in serious trouble. Also cool that you can dupe during the cs for interior mode. In Ran Fa Li you do that by simply not skipping the cs until the second instance starts. Just don't flip your car. ^^

Instead of disconnecting the trailer, you can get out of the truck, back in and out again after some time. Then there is < 1:00 minutes left to the call, so that it will come in before Trucking fails. Edit: I missed that you said that, I still keep this for the others that missed it. ^^

Btw, the "normal calls" have variance in the time between them. 400ms iirc. Trucking gives a 500ms window. So if you want to get bufferless strats to be guaranteed to work, you need very precise timing. It surprises me how well it works in light of the knowledge of how variable the timing is. I don't know where the variance comes from apart from the fact that there is the 150ms wait statement for checking for OM=0, then the one 150ms wait statement if you are controllable and the timer is at >15000ms. Wait means that it happens every x ms, 150 in this case.

I don't know the variance in the waiting time between the 1min calls but you need to time getting out of the truck the second time that you are guaranteed to get the Catalina call because probably you will crash otherwise (Trucking starting High Jack).

I tried Highjack duping without taking the call and it worked as well (in the cutscene). Was there a specific reason to hold TAB and stuff when it's not an interior and you don't need to delay it? I found that unless I find a bike (fast vehicle) at the right place (not too far away and not too close), it may not be worth it to not just disconnect the trailer. Stealing a car also includes the danger of police and stuff (I guess you can usually loose them, but still. But these are details I guess.

I tried Fish in a Barrel duping and it appeared to worked fine. I just left the Dozer at the Quarry and exploded the Satchel from within the Casino. You also already mentioned that you don't need a replay to keep the phonecall inside the casino for the cutscene. Would be potentially useful to have better phonecall though, it's irritating to wait for Catalina if you're already ready. Although I'm not sure how it would be in an actual run.

Germany

Oh man, all those assumptions. You're really helping us by questioning the stupid things we believe. :D Yeah, fuck common sense, in video games you can't sometimes blow up satchels from a distance and other times can blow them up from it feals the other side of the map. Have you tried blowing up the Truck from a distance? My guess is that the reason you can blow up the Dozer in the Quarry from the casino is that you are in an interior. Being in an interior you are actually miles above the ground, sometimes even above a different city but the game wants to make it look and feel like the casino interior were where the map shows it to be and they didn't want to deal with what that means for satchel remote control range and so they just disabled the check if you are in range.

Also we nees to re-test if the satchel remote control even has a range, maybe my testing was flawed. Maybe I tested with Ballas to get a gang war, the satchels exploded but the Ballas had despawned. Maybe I tried it on Snail Trail and the clear_area despawned it. I don't know how I came to the conclusion that there is a range.

Germany

So you can attach a satchel to the Truck or Dozer and blow it up from across the city, so you can just not get into the Truck/Dozer at all and instead take a fast car and not worry about the mission fail timer (additionally not getting in the Truck apparently doesn't spawn traffic). You loose all your satchels you may still have from Catalina missions during The Da Nang Thang, so you'd have to get more for later dupes. I timed buying 3 satchels at the Ammunation near Toreno's to about 30s detour (on the way to Trucking after Monster) and picking up 15 satchels in SF north of the Hospital to about 32s detour (with the Ambulance after the Deathwarp).

Edit: Apparently you have to hold TAB when exploding the satchels and standing in the mission marker, otherwise the game crashes. I did that anyway because I figured using a weapon would otherwise cancel the phonecall. Maybe that has to do with the crash somehow.

Edit 2: Seems like you might not actually take the phonecall when using TAB as described above if you do it during a cutscene. I started Ran Fa Li holding TAB and exploding the satchel, then letting go of TAB during the cutscene and skipped the cutscene only after the second instance was started (no pressing F). After killing myself to end the mission fast I still got the same phonecall that I had before the mission (test save with only the Driving School phonecall in the queue).

Edit 3: For Highjack duping with satchel it seems like I do have to press F for the second instance to start and do actually take the phonecall, unless it's a timing thing or something.

Duping with the denise call should work on all los santos after cesar and burning desire are done. Still useless until the denise call is figured out AND you need another call to happen after it. The fact I had another call was just luck in this case(the save was modified by Nick007J) . Also slow unless you can fail the low rider mission some other way than waiting.

@Mew: I wanted this to happen during Riot but it is also a mission, not just a script, Nick said it crashes. Doing this during Riot would give two Riot instances like in the video to the already existing one, that's three instances.

The only script that changes the onmission flag is Valet, btw. You can use the fact that missions and scripts don't interfere to get Vigilante or Pimping with OM=0.

  1. phone call start Trucking (OM=0)
  2. start Valet (OM=1) Trucking stays (that's what I mean by 'not interfere')
  3. fail Trucking (OM=0) Valet still runs
  4. start vigilante/Pimping(OM=1)
  5. fail valet (OM=0)

Im not really into san andreas but I think there's another way to get phone calls.

When you go gamble in a casino and you lose all your money and are in the min, you get a phone call from someone who says that you have to pay them back. Dont know if it is usefull.

New Jersey, USA

that wouldn't be useful for a speedrun because by the time you are allowed to start gambling, you already have $100,000 and you can't gamble big money because they say that your luck isnt high, and the mafia phone call is probably a low priority call anyway.

Update on terrible dupe method.

Its easy enough to generate a call from denise but the time you get the call is still random. Nick said there are 2 types of glitched calls;

If a player has a progress with a girlfriend of -15 or lower (but not -100 and -999, probably constants for killing girlfriends), then the call will be generated as only player gets within a rectangle of 65 meters with her house in the center

The second type is a usual call, when progress is higher than -15. If a player is within the same rectangle, then game chooses random hour and random minute for next call. This call would happen only if player is within that rectangle again at generated time.

I only tested the second call because i dont understand the conditions of the first 1

If only the call was consistent :(

Germany

Did Are You Going to San Fierro duping work? IIRC it did. It might be worth it in 100%, since it is on the way from Farewell, my Love to the farm. You'd get the 100%-Hydra early, after EOTL and fly to the last Trucking mission at the very end of the run. I'd find it funny and I like getting 100% earlier than triggering all made_progress opcodes (which is what defines 100%).

So the -15 progress call from denise is consistent.

Load save with badlands complete(may work with just green sabre done, didn't try) Fly back to los santos Drive past denises house between 16:00 and 06:00 The call should happen at 06:20 or so

If you wait directly outside her house it doesnt work. If you dont drive past her house it doesnt work. I even drove past at like 05:50 and the call still happened at 06:20

I tried to set OMF to 0 with lowrider challenge started like last time and it DIDNT work with this call. I could still move in the cutscene though.

So RIP

OK I'm an idiot. It DOES work. I had the onmission changer running which was messing with the testing Kappa
