Given the popularity of the jump puzzles like Leap of Faith and Kugane Tower...How is there not an official category for them? I mean they are big enough that they get large amounts of attention and speedrunning videos as-is
I agree with this, especially since Pint and Em0_0ticon just had a small back and forth publicly over Kugane Tower. Lol
It’s been offered up a couple times as a suggestion but only recently (not just in the past couple days but the past few months) started getting more interest. It is something we’re doing more planning on and should expect to see it soon(tm).
Like all suggestions/requests for new categories, there needs to be some verified interest from multiple people before anything gets added, considering additional time to verify runs etc etc. But obviously recent events have shown this is in high demand.
Since these areas are not instanced like a trial or dungeon, a designated start position would have to be agreed so the timing can be right. For Kugane tower, I suggest teleporting to the Kugane aetheryte and starting your time from then. It means everyone will be stood in the same (ish?) place when the clock begins.
Jump puzzles (specifically Kugane Tower right now) were added last night, 2 different categories - one allowing abilities, buffs, etc, one not.
I would say the best way to time a Jump Puzzle would be from the moment you land on the first lodge after the first jump. That way you don't have to deal with any potential differences and rng.
I had to make a leaderboard because I was getting frustrated with there not being one for LoF. Someone should honestly just make their own for Kugane Tower and if it gets traction then maybe we can show there should be one here? Here it is:
With some recent PBs I think we've already reached a point where saving a full second in the "no abilities" category is close to impossible, so we need a higher degree of precision for the Jump Puzzle leaderboards. Can we have milliseconds added so we can avoid having a bunch people tied at specific seconds?
Also, I'd like to volunteer with verifying Jump Puzzle runs to significantly speed up approval times, as it seems the mods have a lot on their plates, and I believe my knowledge and experience could prove very useful to help standardize the starting and ending frames, especially if fractions of a second are added. Where can we discuss this?
