Mod Abuse and Censorship

Mods are deleting posts despite following ToS. This is censorship and abuse of power.

Deleting posts you don't like, or deleting posts because you don't like the person, is abuse of power, period.

Finland

If you feel like mods of a game are abusing their power you can take it up with the site moderators and they may look into it.

We're deleting your posts because they're mockery and unconstructive. You clearly don't like the community and is only here to try to harrass others. Move on already and stop wasting other people's time and your own.

Since you want to act innocent, I'll just leave some examples of what was deleted.

I love final fantasy and the game as a whole. I love speedrunning and appreciate people who put in a lot of work and dedication into their craft. I do not like a community that makes a mockery of that. You claim I'm mocking the community, but you mock speedrunners. You create speedrunning opportunities throughout the game without a single thought about the inherent competitive nature of speedrunning. You know why mario and Zelda are such well known and successful speedruns? It is because there is something to gain from getting a world record. In the community you sponsor you want a src where anytime someone completes a run they can submit it under anything they want and call it a world record or world first. That is why we are a joke as speedrunners. Speedrunning does not have to be a career, but do not accuse me of mockery when you as leaders mock the foundation of speedrunning.

The "mockery" list I provided are all real categories that could potentially be asked for. You call it fake but I also thought there was no way we'd set world records for a 15 second segment and dictate that as a real world record. And the biggest travesty is that you believe it is acceptable because people that haven't touched the game in years said it should be. I can easily flood this community with friends, and have them vote on my list of categories if that is all you need to be sure I'm serious about the categories. I'd make a lot of world records and world firsts there. If you decline, it's just further proof this community is not about final fantasy or speedrunning and instead a social gathering of your own friends so you can show off skill in whatever tyrannically dictated category you can think of next.

You use Mario and Zelda as examples but they both have category extensions that are similar to what we've just added as part of the IL boards. They are many games that speedruns minigames, are you going to denounce them too? They do not take away from the competition from the other categories. You focus way too hard on the words "WR" instead of the actual competition. The value is in the competition. The competition of the main boards aren't going to be diluted just because IL boards were added. We're trying to open more opportunities for competition in other areas and have fun. They weren't created just for people to grab a quick WR title. We're not the Olympics. WR titles by itself means nothing.

The "categories" you provided you have provided are just random segments of the game compared to a speed segment that can make sense to fit in a IL board. How long the segment is has nothing to do with this. Again, to use your examples of Mario, Zelda and many other games they too have separate categories for certain segments and minigames which some also happen to be short. We took the feedback of runners, new/old and people that contributed to the game. Majority of the people were either for it or did not care it was added. The only ones that were against it were the same usual troublemakers that wants to stir the pot (Which we have direct proof of). You act like we're just doing it within a circle of friends but that's far from the truth. You have no idea of the difficulties to keep this community satisfied. You're so blinded by contempt/hostility and can only see us as circlejerks.

United States

Mario and Zelda have segments for sure... not "half way through world 7" segments because people who play Donkey Kong on arcade think "Sure ok!" The community is already thin as it comes, and what you are doing are adding more segments, not to bring in more viewers or players but as you clearly think is the case, a circle of jerks trying to make eachother look more significant. We are losing more and more players than we are gaining because you'd rather increase the amount of ways people could play the game rather than focus on the actual competition. In the Olympics we have ice skating, snowboarding, etc. Not "halfway snowboarding" trophy or "she did a jump on the ice" trophy. Speedrunning is done for competition and the trophy. That's all there is too it. Even Mario 64 has 0 star, 1 star, 8 star, 16 star, 70 star, and 120 star... not "beat bomb-omb king" category. Your attempt to conflate segments with random decisions to add categories is atrocious, almost akin to what you think my list is. And known troublemakers? You are losing the SRC community because these "known troublemakers" ask for a say in the community, some type of leadership and cohesion, and the basic respect as a speed runner. When you choose to take the sides of non speedrunning moderators that are quite literally a circle of friends, ignore the actual speed runners (or troublemakers as you call them), and add more categories so more names of random players (well not random since its just a small group thanks to your leadership or lack thereof) on the SRC, of course there will be unhappy people. You cannot make them all happy, but I have evidence as well of your inaction toward people who simply want to be heard (deano anyone?). Troublemakers indeed. Steal credit, ignore the actual runners, make the game less competitive, create random segments based on friends' votes, delete posts you deem unconstructive, and have the audacity to say "damn that troublemaker is making me think again."

As a person who doesn’t run this game and is a viewer of this game, may please put my two pence into the conversation.

The list provided above is pointless. I’m not going to watch anyone grind a time for any of that and in all honesty, you are just creating more work for the mods of this game, who are already busy enough validating runs, not from just this game, but some may be validating on other boards as well. And they don’t get paid to do this. They do this in their own time. No pay. As a hobby. The last thing I’d want to be doing is coming home to 100 people submitting for “First to rename cloud” and having to verify all of them. This list seems like an excuse just to open up more “World Records” so more people can glorify themselves. Just partake in the runs provided and have fun with the competition.

No one's opinion is going to change from this so I'm done with this conversation. We will continue to delete posts that are spam and harassment.

The new run ideas shouldn't have been deleted, the what a joke makes sense.

People should have a space to discuss even if their ideas aren't mainstream as the general viewpoint can change over time. Discussions shouldn't be done with the main goal of changing someone's mind, but to share their thoughts and give information.

Yeah I'd delete anything that points out my own corruption as a leader too. Thats why every speedrunner finds this community a joke and the only opinions you accept are people that don't run... like Dave... who prove my point that adding random nonsense segments is not going to attract more viewship, but then ignore runners like me, Deano, Ptown, Carnage, Luzbel, hypeghost and more. I will be reporting your abuse as a mod to the SRC. Good luck.

I find myself in agreement with Kitkatbars. You quite literally added snowboarding when the community said it was a joke and to not do it, but then say that its harassment, and mockery when someone else suggests the same thing on a higher scale? That is hypocrisy in its finest form dear moderator. Do not delete posts that you do not agree with if you will ignore people who actually play the game. And to make matters worse, I agree with their assumption about your circle of friends making more world records for yourself. I mean... you add snowboarding and guess who I see on the top? You won't be changing minds or bringing more people on board by acting like a dictator, ignoring your community, acting a hypocrite, and then blatantly lying about it. Honey is sweeter than shit my friend.

And stop verifying your own runs Kuma, you and RJ literally had this conversation on Discord about how that is very bad etiquette, and here you are doing it.

Portland, OR, USA

As a newer moderator, in my opinion, you have a very poor track record based on your behavior. You threaten to ban people in discord just for disagreeing. Here, you are deleting posts. You are verifying your own runs. What more needs to be said.

United States

Those were not run ideas, they were thrown in just to harass us. We aren't deleting actual suggestions. Anyone that's actually paying attention to FF7 runs will know "First to rename Cloud" is a joke. Are you trying to brigade this thread? Snowboarding wasn't even my idea, I participated to submitting runs to encourage competition. It was less time investment for me to practice compared to doing a full run which I do not have time for. I would rather have someone beat my time. I will even remove my times right now because I don't care to be the top.

You're going to use examples like Hypeghost, that is known to be problematic even to yourself? Give me a break. We have direct evidence Ptown saying in his own discord he was drinking beer and stirring trouble for pure entertainment and drama. Luzbel himself said he does not care. I have not heard from Carnage. Dave hasn't even participated in any conversation in a long time since he is busy with life. Are you just trying to pull names out of a hat?

Ptown, don't pretend you're a nice guy or you were voicing your opinion in the lightest way possible.

United States

The only person we've banned (excluding obvious spam accounts) were Hypeghost who were known to be problematic to everyone and Kitkat who would just come in and out of the discord leaving messages like the one attached below without anything constructive to say. The one time I threatened to time people out was for people like you causing toxicity and arguments, derailing conversations. People who have been following the conversations will know the toxicity and drama seeking players are playing the same roles here.

I verified my own snowboarding runs because they are easy to verify for anyone to watch. But I will remove my runs anyway because I do not care to be on the top like people here are trying to suggest.

The FF7 moderators have a well established track record of poor moderation, so everything you had coming your way there you very much deserved, glad you enjoyed it

Also, that was meant for all of you to see, so if you think this is a big reveal, you are pretty new around here. RJ is a member of my discord, and I wrote all of that intending for him to see it

Kuma you are literally proving our points. You are admitting to ignoring the actual speedrunners in favor of the small group you represent as friends. You are NOW willing to take down your own record because you "don't care" but were quick to jump on that now weren't ya? Luzbel ditched you guys and started his own submission src because of the lack of leadership, but yeah he sure doesn't care because why would anyone care about a community ran by a dictatorship designed to make sure only the mods stay on top.

When you ignore the people you are supposed to represent, what do you think will happen? Cheers, beers and a party? Ive never known someone who was neglected by the people who were supposed to help, listen to, and promote them to end up happy and content. In your case specificly... the longest time runners left the SRC, the best players are ditching out because they dont appreciate the mockery of their craft, and the rest hate the credit stolen from them in favor of the small group of friends promoting themselves. "We discussed it as a community" of what? 5 people who don't actually run the game? You can take down your WR, and decide to actually step up as a mod and less of a tyrant but damn dude... until your hypocrisy stops and you guys start listening your killing the SRC for FFVII and patting yourself on the back doing it.
