I noticed there isn't a save state pack available for download.  I'm getting some practice in on emulator during my lunch break at work, and it would be easy to make save states as I work through the game bit by bit there.  Before I start trying to submit states, though, I want to make sure they're going to be usable.

Which emulators would be run-eligible?  There's not much sense making save states in a format that won't get used.

What are things a new person might mess up that would make the save state bad for 'practice?'  I'd be running from every encounter, obviously, so being too high leveled wouldn't be an issue.  But it's not like my boss fights are going perfectly.  Mom Bomb OHKO Yang and I ended up surviving with only single-HP Rydia.  The EXP tables probably wont' be what a typical run would look like, 'cause I'm not there yet, and if that makes the save states no good, I don't wanna lead people astray.

Should I bother notating the seed # for the step route?  I'm still learning the correct pathing myself, and have twice gone through the wrong door on Mount Ordeals and needed -50 extra steps or so to recover. ^^;

What parts are particularly troublesome and require some extra practice?

And overall, would save states even be useful?  FF4 isn't mechanically precise the way that Super Metroid or Ocarina of Time are, requiring precision inputs.  It's very tile and turn based and either follows a pretty tight script, or requires quick on-the-fly reactions to adjust for, say, bad targeting RNG.  Did you guys grind out segmented practice, or just grind out runs and get a feel for it that way?

There is a save pack available for SNES9x. It uses the drain spear route and has save states available for every screen. Please let me know if you want it.

Is there a savestate one the save select screen for seed 43 (best for paladin%)? I've been looking around but I can't seem to find one.
