I just thought I would open the discussion here about the Amiga version of Spitting Image.
It might be one of the hardest, infuriating, and terribly designed fighting games I have every played. I actually couldn't figure out how to even win a single fight versus the AI, and when I did find attacks to spam or trap the opponent the AI just dodges everything perfectly.
I'm genuinely curious if anyone has cleared the Amiga version? I could not even manage to find a full video playthrough of it.

Heya Sonic Fans,
We would love to see Sonic Rumble at Anime Speedruns event. This time our event is providing commentary and translation support to accepted runners.
Normally the main event can't accept sonic because it originally started as a game series, however for the Mobile Game Speedrun event, this has been lifted, and shows with animes, or similar styles are accepted.

Hope to see some submissions!

Some people have asked in the past if they could submit Honkai Star Rail to Anime Speedruns,
This year our second event is a Mobile Game RTA by ASF https://oengus.io/marathon/Mobile This means any games that are anime like are accepted.
This event allows any and all types of Honkai Star Rail submissions, because we are highlighting mobile games, you can submit the PC or console versions.
We hope to see your submissions, Japanese is not required, we will help with commentary support if needed. Submissions close in 4 days time.
A cute little plug and play game from Epoch, Tottoko Hamtaro: Ham Ham Dai Circus is adorable as it sounds. And super friendly to speedrun.
Even if you fail you can land in a category! But don't be mistaken, this games controls are frustrating and it's collection of mini games hard to clear even if you arn't going for a higher ranking.
There isn't much else to add at this time, but I do hope some of the Hamtaro runners out there discover this one!
Asuka 120 Burning Fest Series latest release as of the past few years has been the Arcade EXA exclusive Asuka 120% BURNING Fest. EXALLENT. Which means this is only playable on those specific cabs for the current time.
Currently there are few known arcades across Japan, and other places across the world that do have this game cart loaded up and ready to play. If you did need help finding a location I personally or other members of the fighting discord would always be willing to help you track one down.
So far the main category for this is Normal% just because I need to figure out how to access dip switches and at the time was not able to on the board.
Just a small intro for what could also be considered an elusive game in an already hard to own series of Asuka 120 percent!
So like many of you I was curious, what exactly is Rage of the Dragons Neo.
A simple explanation is this was an attempt to bring Rage of the Dragons to consumers who might not have the ability to play the Arcade version.
The game balance is exactly the same, with the main exception being that Johann is now playable. He apparently was playable in the AES version with a code, although very buggy, now those bugs have been fixed and he can be experienced in all his cheapness.
Johann is completely allowed in the Arcade mode, and just as broken. So essentially this board might as well be called the Johann Rage of the Dragon Speedruns.
There is also a new "Dragon Challenge" Mode, though I have to dive into this personally. It seems to be some sort of survival mode. It could be added if there is a clear ending to the mode.
Aside from some quality of life changes, and a menu that lets you experience the music and some achievements, there isn't much here. Though, I am happy that more people can experience this game.
If are doing a run without Johann, and on Fightcade, Emulation, or Arcade. Then please submit a run here; https://www.speedrun.com/rage_of_the_dragons
It's been a long long time since there has been an update here, but with the Switch NEOGEO POCKET COLOR SELECTION Vol.1 being the best port of the game, its allowed us to have access to the game at all times and avoid having to use emulation.
Since coming back, I realized this leaderboard should have some things added.
- The normal previous rules from the leaderboard were that all runs were to be done on normal. These 4 runs, have been moved to to normal%
- Created the difficulty sub category, with Easy, Normal, and Hard Percents to reflect the difficulty in the game.
- Created the character annotation
- Alfred is an unlockable secret character but I think should be allowed.
- Lao is only available in versus mode after doing research.
- Any% can't be added because the round settings in this game only go to 2 or 3. This game is already a short clear.
- Updated the logo image
- Added the background image as well.
That's it for now, it was nice to revisit one of the first games I submitted to on speedrun.com. I really think that this game while lacking some of the other features and modes of the other Neo Geo Pocket Color entries, is a very good entry in the Fatal Fury series.
SNK made gold back in the day when they made Samurai Spirits. And like every hit back then, it was ported back to a ton of consoles like the SNES, Genesis, the 3DO, and Saturn from the Arcade.
A couple of versions were built from the ground up or assets changed dramatically. So the Game Gear and Game Boy versions now have their own leaderboard with their own runs.
https://www.speedrun.com/Samurai_Shodown_GB
https://www.speedrun.com/Samurai_Shodown_Game_Gear In addition to porting, some things like difficulty were added. Would members who are still active here like to see difficulty added?
If you have questions or suggestions please post here or in the discord. Alternatively you can reach out to @janglestorm or @DBcade
On a side note, the majority of the series is finally up today, along with a lot of extra info in the fighting game discord. We have seen a lot samurai shodown submission at events in Japan, which I will be posting over the vods over the next month. Maybe we can see some revived activity and interest at Speedyfists or other Speedrun events this year!?!
This version of Samurai Shodown, is not a port, but one of two of the Nettou Sam Spi games with specially made sprites, backgrounds and sounds. Realizing not only was this version harder to find, it should have its own board as it is a completely separate release. So I properly moved everything.
I also imported the rules over with a few minor changes.
-
Added the Easy, Normal, and Hard percent difficulty categories. Sam Sho is a game where the AI behavior changes drastically from difficulty to difficulty warranting this change.
-
Outside of the one Super Game Boy Player run on real hardware, the normal thing should be banning Super Game Boy Player 1 and only Allowing 2 (Which is the standard for Japan and record keeping anyway.) This is a direct change from the previous rule. "Any runs using the Super Game Boy 1 will have their times converted, since it runs at a different frame rate, compared to an actual Game Boy. The site http://nudua.com/convert can also be used for converting the time. " This can still be discussed, but in general I learned that SGBP 1 is just flat out banned in most events and cases.
-
Added correct Art and Covers.
-
All rules and times ported over.
-
Fixed the spelling of characters names.
-
Added Kuroko to the character roster since he was missing.
Message here if you have a question or comment in addition the discord is still available with lots of info about Samurai Shodown Speedruns and gaming in general.
Shinsetsu Samurai Spirits Bushidō Retsuden AKA that Samurai Shodown RPG. This is a very unique entry in the series, that offers a really deeper look into the Samurai Shodown Series Story, one could even say the most.
For those wondering this game also has had an English patch released, apparently a lot of work went into releasing that. This game was requested to be added, I'm hopeful we will see some runs, in what is considered a beautiful RPG by many fans.
Some things to note on the leaderboard.
- Split the NEO GEO CD and PS1 / Sega Saturn versions. This is due to animation differences.
- The bonus 3rd chapter exclusive for the Neo Geo version is not added since we dont have a run yet. I also have not seen this.
If you have something you want to add a question feel free to post here. The majority of the Sam Spi games are fighting so for now I have left the discord link off the page but feel free to reach out privately.
