Horrible Games is a speedrun marathon built around games that can be seen as horrible (and horror). This year we're back to raise money for [Detroit Alley Cats](https://detroitalleycats.org/), with 36 wonderful, horrendous, spooktacular hours of runs, laughs and a little bit of trash.

# Game Submission Guidelines

To qualify, a game typically needs to be horrible in some aspect. Runs should meet at least one of the following:

- The game has received a rating of 75% or less from any rating body or agency, or a mixed rating or worse on Steam.
- Something about the game is seen less favorably, even if it could still be considered a good game (poor graphics, poor controls, PC bluescreens, visual glitches).
- The speedrun itself is extremely difficult, or many aspects of the game depend on RNG.

Horror games are allowed and will typically be held to the same standard as above!

We are leaning into the dumpster diving and want to see all of the gobsmacking horrible games™ out there! With an atonement to horrendous games!

## **What About Horror Games?**

We will have dedicated blocks throughout the event, called Horrorible Games blocks, where we allow horror-esque games throughout the day. Horror games still have to follow the ruleset above, but can typically be allowed depending on how the runner justifies them as horrible!

Horrible Games Marathon

The Albion Speedrun Collective invite you to our second LIVE UK speedrun event! Working alongside AnimeLeague, we're bringing a two day speedrun marathon to [Brighton Anime & Gaming Con](https://spring.brightonanimecon.com/). The marathon is open to all runners who are up for attending, and will be displayed at the venue and streamed to the Albion Speedrun Collective [Twitch channel](https://twitch.tv/albionspeedrun) and [YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/@albionspeedruncollective.).

As voted for by the community, we will be raising money for the gaming charity **[SpecialEffect](https://www.specialeffect.org.uk/)**. They are a UK charity that helps people with physical disabilities play video games by creating custom controllers, adapting technology, and offering specialist support. Their work makes gaming more accessible, inclusive, and fun for players who would otherwise be unable to participate.

2026 marks the 30th anniversary for the Nintendo 64. It was a time when game generations were leaps and bounds more advanced than the next and the N64 revolutionized the home gaming console forever. Now we celebrate its release in North America with a gaming marathon entirely focused on games that defined a generation!

RGLtv presents the N64 30th Anniversary Marathon and submissions are now open! From September 25th thru the 27th, more days can be added depending on submissions. Our goal is to celebrate everything N64 from its life cycle and the fandom that has spawned after.

We will be raising money for AbleGamers a charity that has been working on video game accessibility since 2004. They build custom controller setups for players with disabilities and provide free one-on-one support to get people playing. Their mission is to combat social isolation through play!

You can submit to run at our event; we accept any game with a 4-hour maximum estimate.

We are also looking for volunteers for our event! We are an online-only event, so you do not need to worry about travelling, you just need to be at home :)

FAST-ATHON 2026 IS BACK | Submissions are OPEN!!!

RPGSU Offline is a 4-day **on-site marathon** taking place from October 22nd to October 25th in Zutphen, The Netherlands. This event will be raising donations for [ILGA Europe](https://www.ilga-europe.org/), the European region of the [International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Association](https://ilga.org/). Their work focuses on advocating and promoting the interests of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex individuals in Europe and Central Asia.

Game submissions are now open and will be until July 31st. The schedule is then planned to be revealed on August 22nd.

RPGSU is the passion project of RPG speedrunners in Europe who are yearning for another home for RPG speedruns. Our aim is to connect runners from all across the world, both through online events and on-site events.

This will be our first on-site event and we can't wait to see the community gather together to celebrate RPG speedrunning!

Wii Series Olympics (WSO) is back for 2026! It's an LTA competition across the Wii Series of games. To take part, simply submit to the speedrun.com leaderboards while each game is active during the competition.

## What is the Wii Series Olympics?

Runners have two weeks to complete runs of two games in the series. They get to choose the categories they want via a vote held in the community Discord server. These can be existing categories or unique challenges devised by the speedrun moderators.

Break time barriers to score ranking points. Bronze, Silver and Gold are fixed times, starting off beginner-friendly at Bronze. Platinum is a dynamic time barrier set at the 1st place runner's time.

## Which games are included?

The Wii Series covers the first-party games branded under the "Wii..." name by Nintendo. These include the Wii Sports series, Wii Party, Wii Play, Wii Fit and Wii Music.

## $1,000 prize pool

WSO 2026 will have the largest Wii Series prize pool to date, with $1,000 in guaranteed prizes. Your 5 best performances across WSO will form your total score. There's also a leaderboard that combines your 4 best sub-series scores: one from a Wii Sports Series game, one from Wii Play Series, one from Wii Fit Series, and one from Wii Party Series.

## I only own one Wii Series game, can I still take part?

Yes! We've adapted the 2026 format to be more accommodating to people who only want to play a single game. There's $30 to be won for placing 1st in each of the 12 games, and if you place in the top 6, you could be joining us for a brand new event...

## Wii Series Invitational Qualifiers

The 4 most popular games in WSO 2026 will qualify for the Wii Series Invitational, a shortened LTA where runners have just 1-2 hours to complete runs. The top 6 players on each qualifying game's WSO leaderboard will be invited.

The Wii Series is an accessible set of games for speedrunning, with plenty of resources to help you get going. The $1,000 Wii Series Olympics 2026 - LTA Series

Fading Echo is a desert-punk action-adventure where water is your weapon, your movement, and your way out. You play as One, a young Legend who can shift between human and aquatic forms, slipping through cracks as a droplet, surging through pipes, crashing from above as a water bomb. Mix water with lava, toxic waste, and Paradox corruption to trigger explosive chain reactions. Every element reacts, and each encounter escalates.

The Cindervault in which the demo takes place, contains the game’s first “Source”, an ancient forge buried in the remains of a long-forgotten civilization. It's where One first learns what her powers can really do, guided by her mother Rahne and her aetheric companion Vellum.

This is a game built for routing. The systems are deep, the movement is liquid (literally), and the optimization ceiling is high. If you're the kind of runner who likes finding the line nobody else has found yet, the Cindervault is waiting.

# The Format

NEStiny is a gauntlet of 4 very different speedruns, each showcasing a different quality of what NES runs have to offer.

Unlike other races, NEStiny doesn't use a single timer for the whole event. Each game is timed individually, racers' times are compared head-to-head, and points are distributed accordingly. This keeps things balanced across games of wildly different length and difficulty - losing seconds in a short game matters just as much as losing minutes in a long one. The competitor with the most points across all 4 games will be crowned the victor!

Popscene: Track 2 is a free MDickie game where you climb the music industry - writing songs, topping charts, and headlining festivals. That's the plan, anyway. The game has other ideas.

Popscene: The Goofy Music Sim Where You Can Get Sued in Under a Minute

We're putting it back in the spotlight with the Refunct Rookie Speedrun Challenge, **an event built *specifically* for runners who've never submitted a Refunct run before.**

Whether you're brand new to speedrunning or a veteran who somehow never picked up Refunct, the door is open.
