Hi, I just started learning how to speedrun this game and I noticed that a lot of people here playing with controller. I don't have one and every other tricks I manage to get +- consistently on mouse and keyboard, but I can't really get glidehopping. I saw some tutorials that recommended binding jump and slide on neighbour buttons on controller but I can't really think about how to do this on keyboard so it would be convenient. I tried lower my fps from 144 to 60 and it did help with getting glidehops more frequently but it seems that when I lower fps I start move slower (not sure about that). So, is there any tips to do glidehops more consistently?
The timing to perform glidehops are the same on both keyboard and controller. I have found it easiest to learn glidehops by practicing every step one after another.
(Numbers signal the step, letters are used when buttons need to be pressed at the same time) The steps go as follows:
-
- Slide (duh)
- 2a. Cancel that slide with a jump. When you perform every step up to 2a, you'll notice Sybil quickly gets up.
- 2b. Do another slide. When you perform every step up to 2b, you'll notice sybils model starts to get up slightly AND has a yellow trail following her.
-
- Jump. By doing this, you have made Sybil go into a special state (thanks to step 2b) that allows you to jump quickly after sliding. This will allow you to maintain your sliding momentum and keep it as you jump.
If you're still struggling with any of these steps, I have made an Any% Beginners Guide for all the tricks you need for the category. (Linked to timestamp of glidehops)
Hey, I am a KBM player and for more consistent Glides I use V(Slide) + Space(Jump). And for others, I know Outlyer uses B for their Glide Slide button (they do this to hit the space bar more central, which is more consistent, espacially on cheaper keyboards)
And I personally just have my thumb lying flat across both buttons to press them down consistently.
My complete rebinds are this:
Physical Key = Key the Game sees
rightmouse = space
v = q
leftmouse = q
mouse2 = f11
mouse1 = leftmouse
middlemouse = rightmouse
Thanks for the answers! The v rebinding method actually worked but it breaks my muscle memory for other tricks lol. I can see that you have Q binded on V and LMB, right? Is there a way to bind 1 action to 2 different keys in game without other programms? When I try to change it in controller table it doesn't really work
Sadly not. You will need to use an outside program.
We generally recommend these programs for rebinding: Windows: Keyboard to Keyboard: AutoHotkey, Your Gaming Keyboard Driver Software Mouse to Keyboard: Your Gaming Mouse Driver Software Keyboard to Controller: XBox360 Controller Emulator, Overbind, Your Gaming Keyboard Driver Software Controller to Anything: Steam Input
Linux: Anything to Anything: Input Remapper Keyboard to Controller: Overbind Autorebinding based on focused Window: keyd, xremap
