It was found that using a password after taking the double KO from the Australia boss allows you to use the new Red Dragon jump zip. What do you think about allowing password use at this particular point in the run?

I don't think it will be valid. Using password screen during a run in order to bypass something will make it invalid if I recall correctly.

I don't really have too big an opinion on this one one way or the other but if the PW isn't allowed in the beginning of the run to skip the opening cutscene I don't see how it'd be allowed to be used here either. Either both or neither should be allowed imo. I'm leaning towards no. Cool find though.

I also noticed that a double KO could be a possible time save on the first boss (it probably isn't but it happened to me and I considered it). The game gives you the password, though at that point in the game. This isn't like using a known password to skip something, so that password gets autofilled. To me it's like using a death warp in Metroid. The game gives you a password on that screen and you are technically using it right? Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but the password is just like continuing and if it saves time...

My thoughts on it is that if you're not allowed to use the Password screen and mash A to skip the opening dialogue, a rule I completely agree with, it shouldn't be allowed in this case either. It's an inconsistency that I cannot abide.

Either way, it SHOULD become a separate category at best. Given the amount of effort by many players as of late, and to suddenly include a timesave like this for the current any% when players have grinded out the air zip - is a slap to their faces imo. To make a category just for this would be silly, but to include it in current any% would be unfair just from my own personal experience of running the game.

Let's close the case here. Passwords are not allowed in any% at all. It should be its own category at best.

Alright, it seems everyone is pretty much in agreement on the matter. No Passwords will be used in Any% runs. IF there is a huge demand (And I mean more then 5-10 people) for it a misc category can be created. Issue is resolved the thread is locked.
