Let me start off with this; I'd be really interested in speedrunning this game on the current patch (as of right now, 5.1.2), if it was more interactive then just holding down a few buttons. It just sort of feels uninteractive. Rush the intro, set your batteries to x8, autoplay to on, let a single song play out, rush through the story, rinse and repeat until you're there. A rhythm game speedrun with no rhythm skill involved. Just fast menu'ing. Which, don't get me wrong. Also requires skill. But it just feels more like pressing a few buttons quickly and waiting, over playing a game well quickly. So, I propose the following;
Intended%! (or... whatever you want to call it.)
Simply put, the exact same ruleset as the current but the accessibility tab is not allowed to be used, which restricts the x8 batteries and autoplay. Which would introduce much more skill to the run, but also make it more interactive. Making the rhythm part of the game a core skill for achieving good times.
does that include not being allowed to change from default mode? cause if you choose rhythm mode you get puzzle hints, 2x currency multiplier, and unlock all modes and songs enabled
for the most part i agree with this idea, i was actually planning on doing my fullgame any% run accessibility-less but i found 1x currency multiplier to be extremely grindy and not fun to speedrun so the only accessibility setting i used was 8x currency mult (in other words, a "no autoplay" run as the other accessibility options don't do much iirc). block has a good point here although i both don't have that much interest in running v5 and have not played on either rhythm or story mode so i can't really say much on it
does that include not being allowed to change from default mode?
I'd say so, yeah. The "Intended" way of experiencing the game is to use the regular mode. No story or rhythm mode.

Also pretty valid, but well, I feel like using it kind of defeats the purpose too since it lets you blast through the story insanely quickly, which also I don't feel like is the "intended" experience. Since, let's say you get 100 batteries. With the x8 mult, you'd get 800, which under the default cap, fills up your battery reserve up to 80%. In one play.
the alternative of playing the same chart 8 times in a row doesn't sound too fun tho...
Well technically you already need to play 5 charts to unlock the boss song of a chapter (on opening) so... I guess its at least a bit variated?
Don't you need to beat like 8 songs in chapter 1's set to access unraveling anyway?
oh wait right I forgot that not having to do any of these challenges is also an accessibility setting, then yeah Ig it's not too bad
intended% was exactly what you were describing except nobody ran it for straight up a year. the problem with it is that its really slow and requires really tight scores in order to optimize battery gain, which isn't very appealing, but i get that autoplay is very lame. I'm not entirely sure, I'll think about it more later its really late for me right now
Hi!
Recently I was made aware of a beta branch that allows access to version 4.4.2.1. This is of extreme importance, as 5.0 made a lot of speedrun tech completely impossible to preform, and version 4.4.2.1 is much more fast, and subjectively enjoyable to run. As stated, you can access this by input
