Unless there's a problem with the leaderboard of X6 (which there is not), why add another mod? Also asking for him to be mod is silly petey, he's a grown man he can ask for himself
Unfortunately the trick is indeed not possible on PAL version
I think we all need to just calm down and FrankerZ
@SkiCrazedTeddy he's not a bad person and he got banned from twitch for dumb reasons, anyone can get banned if children mass report you
This is a very solid suggestion tbh, would allow for a competition within a competition as well. It's done wonders for Mario Kart and F-zero
I'd HIGHLY recommend snes9x over BizHawk just due to it being less intensive to use. Since JOJO is an rpg you'd be fine. As for version of 9x to use, I'm honestly unsure but I used 1.51 when I started out 3 years ago
Unlike Ninja Storm 3, Ninja Storm 2 saves the following:
Items purchases (EXCEPT WARP SCROLLS) Bentos (not used in the run unfortunately, takes too long to use and benefits aren't worth it) Weapons created (so only create Heavy Destruction Tags and Giant Food Pills) Storm points, characters unlocked, etc. (basically unlockable stuff, so make sure you did a lot).
Essentially you just gotta make your saved data in such a way that you have crafted ONLY destruction tags and Giant Food pills (i'd check gamefaqs on this since I don't remember how it's done), as well as getting enough storm points and other unlockable so you don't lose seconds over the course of the run. In addition, back up healing items may be wise to invest in due to some fights AI's, so ensure you buy 99 of the best healing item available (I usually use one prior to the Itachi boss fight).
EDIT: I never tested Xbox 360 version but make sure you installed the game to your harddrive, it's possible that 360 version would save time on loading.
At this point and time runs shall remain timed via RTA as the in game timer counts one of the cutscenes in mission 1. This goes against the point of why IGT would have been preferred as we theorized it would not count any cutscene towards its total.
I agree with xDrHellx, many game community have rules that aren't simply implied (like banning the usage of deaths, resets, certain versions, etc.).
That being stated, it should be up to the moderators to make the leaderboard reflect this, so they would be first place to ask, though in its current form without PM's, it's very hard to contact some leaderboard moderators as well.

Thank you for the reply and I definitely wish to see more X6 submissions!
Ok I shall start back at square one since after rethinking how I talked I have went over board.
Hello my name is Zewing. I speed run video games (especially mega man x series) and pretty much enjoy it a ton.
While I may have acted "elitist" or something akin to that, I can assure you I got no ill will towards speed runners who use emulators. What I do have an issue with, however, is runners using inaccurate emulators that give a major advantage over fastest official releases.
When I say "compete," I mean claiming a run better on a leaderboard / competition site. I don't care how people speed run but once you begin competing rules have to be followed.
This site's leaderboard was ran by Cyberdemon (prior to Izraill and me) because of the horrendously lazy actions of Jokah, whose solution to fixing his site's version for X6 to be "just use speedrun.com and leave me be."
And thus this is why people started to submit X6 runs on PS2 Emulator here, because Cyberdemon and Izraill (at the time) were ignorant to the fact that it was wrong (and proven wrong, 0xwas made a video with a single loading screen to be 2 seconds faster PS2 emu over GCN XC).
Now I do agree some post should have been made that should have explained "major leaderboard overhaul" or something, and this is something we just didn't plan in hind sight since we were caught up in the rush to begin preparing this leaderboard for the eventual API merge w/ the mmrta wiki. For that I apologize.
In addition, this was meant to be a community leaderboard, but the current moderators at the time did not treat it as such, instead it became "this is how I want it to be, everything else is wrong."
Personally, I agree with how the leaderboard layout was here, in which PSX and XC were combined in 1 place, but once again I could not act like an individual and had to make it a community leaderboard. Community perspectives were to standardize PSX version and let XC be what you see now (except different difficulty = different category no matter what community you were in, so it ended up being to make default main categories the fastest in XC).
In regards to my previous actions, I mistook you as someone who acted like cyber's crew and that pretty much sparked rage in me. These past few days have been nothing but stress inducing, but even so that was wrong of me to act (I was a moderator at time, mods shouldn't ever act like this which is why I just stepped down). So yeah, sorry, and hopefully these past transgressions can be forgotten as X6 is still, in my opinion, the best mega man x game to speed run and I don't want to act like this to any members of a speed game I enjoy.
[Quote = "Substylee"] Or as, Crak, put it. "There is no reason to alienate emu runners from the leaderboards, they are part of the X6 community as well."

You can use emulators, just not the inaccurate ones. Maybe if you read a bit more into what we were doing you wouldn't feel the need to get super uptight and "offended."
At no point did we say we were banning emulations, we only mentioned PS2 Emulations (until the community deems them fit enough to be used). Did you not know, that Mega Man X6 was released for the PS1 and that we have accurate PS1 emulators for this game?
In addition, the default and overall look of the leaderboard is still a work in progress, a new thread will be made in near future once everything is settled.
Thread is being locked, thanks for input and renovations of the leaderboard are under way
So I may as well say this for SDS for PSX standardization since I have experience using it, unlike the majority of people in this thread.
I have used a SCPH-70000 model PS2 when I ran Mega Man X6 half a year ago and I used Fast Disk Speed as my Disk Speed. However, on 2 of my 52 attempts, I got an infinite loading softlock on 2 different loading screens (the load screen after intro boss and infinity mijinion). I can only assume SCPH-9000x models have this happen more frequently. Unsure about SCPH-3000x models though.
So basically FDS causes 3 distinct kinds of loading at any load screen:
- Faster loading than SDS
- Very slow loading, probably slower than Standard Disk Speed
- Infinite loading soft lock.
Making SDS the standard eliminates this soft lock and inconsistent loading and makes all runs easier to compare as well.
In addition, to comment on Luiz's proposal to time w/ RTA but rank by IGT, this is not possible at all. If times are ranked by IGT, you must expect the possibility that runners will run with whatever kinds of strats will get them the better IGT ranking, even if those strats look like "slower RTA strats."
In addition, we don't know everything about how the IGT even works in mega man x games, so until that time comes IGT will just be an arbitrary time with "some" meaning.
