Hey, so I've been looking into the all stories categories and I have found some interesting things regarding which version you should play.
If you don't feel like reading the entire thing: NTSC-J IS THE BETTER VERSION TO PLAY FOR ALL STORIES.
If you saw my last post you would have seen the following:
NTSC-J has the following stages faster: (TOTAL TIME SAVE ~40-45 seconds) Ultimate Decisive Battle (Goku Early vs. Vegeta Scouter) SAVES ~5 seconds Frieza's Ultimate Transformation! (Frieza vs. Vegeta Scouter) SAVES ~ 15-20 seconds Vegeta's Curiousity (Semi-perfect Cell vs. #16, SS Trunks, Android 18) SAVES ~20 seconds
NTSC-U has the following stage faster: (TOTAL TIME SAVE ~50 seconds) Conclusion SAVES ~50 seconds
For all stories though, NTSC-J also saves time for at least 2 more stages: Final Battle For Earth (Goku Early vs. Turles) Saves ~5 seconds Super Saiyan Goku (Goku Early vs. Lord Slug) Saves ~10 seconds
That brings the total NTSC-J time saved to 1 minute while NTSC-U is 50 seconds. I also want to bring importance to the fact that on NTSC-J it is much easier to get the perfect cell transformation skip on "Vegeta's Curiousity), so overall I do feel as though NTSC-J is the definitively best version for running all stories.
Despite that, I do not see a need for splitting up the leaderboard since the record still has a lot of time to save (5 minutes even), and the advantage for NTSC-J would realistically be about 10-20 seconds.
EDIT: As pointed out by Mr. Challenge below, Cooler has super armor (does not flinch when punched with light attacks) in the English version which makes the fight slightly harder. I do feel that any time loss from this can be circumvented with practice, however take that into account for your decision.
TL;DR: If you don't have a version preference, play on NTSC-J for All Stories. If you do have a preference, just stick to that (I personally will be sticking to NTSC-U for now, but may switch later).
Again, I'm not really sure about the PAL version, but I'd assume it's similar to NTSC-U, so NTSC-J is still probably the best version to play.
Yo, I have played both these versions now for a bit, have not tried out PAL yet. I believe that the Wii version does not have any significant differences but I am not sure - if you play Wii just try both out. NTSC-J has a few stages where the attack modifier is higher for the stage and NTSC-U has one stage where the attack modifier is higher.
The main differences I've seen so far are as follows (NOT SURE ABOUT ALL STORIES STAGES):
Also note that the approximate time saved for these is based on my times and my strategies (check twitch.tv/yamini981 for my runs)
NTSC-J has the following stages faster: (TOTAL TIME SAVE ~40-45 seconds) Ultimate Decisive Battle (Goku Early vs. Vegeta Scouter) SAVES ~5 seconds Frieza's Ultimate Transformation! (Frieza vs. Vegeta Scouter) SAVES ~ 15-20 seconds Vegeta's Curiousity (Semi-perfect Cell vs. #16, SS Trunks, Android 18) SAVES ~20 seconds
NTSC-U has the following stage faster: (TOTAL TIME SAVE ~50 seconds) Conclusion SAVES ~50 seconds
It seems from this that the version you should play on depends on your strategy/playstyle. For you, you may save a lot more time on the NTSC-J stages with the extra damage you get. The conclusion being longer seems a bit too much for me and I think I'll probably stick with NTSC-U as I was doing before, however I will try out NTSC-J for a few days to see how I like it. Overall though I would recommend using NTSC-U especially for newer players considering how much of a run killer Conclusion can be when you don't go for the spirit bomb. For world record? Hard to say - play with your preference imo.
It's also possible that there are other differences I may have missed out on, so if there are please let me know.
also mods verify my run >:(
EDIT: I lied I don't feel like playing NTSC-J cuz I prefer having time to save later in the run rather than making it up earlier. I still stand by it being up to preference though and I don't think a leaderboard divide is necessary.
