If all you need to do is cut out segments from a video I would highly recommend you forego actual video editors and instead go with lossless-cut (https://github.com/mifi/lossless-cut). It's very lightweight and easy to use, and the main benefit is that it does not re-encode the video, which means it can save the video pretty much instantaneously, and you won't have any quality loss, or frame rate/resolution issues like you might get with a video editor.

The github page explains pretty well how to use it, but in short for your specific use case;

  • Open the file in lossless-cut
  • Use i/o keys to mark the start/end of the segments, use + to add a new segment
  • Hit the e key to export the selected segments as separate files

Hope this helps ^^

@gui.jpeg The reason you get a 404 is that because of your username the URL for your profile makes the server think you are requesting an image with the filename "gui.jpeg" (which obviously doesn't exist on the server). If you want to actually open your profile you can put a backslash after the URL (like so: https://www.speedrun.com/user/gui.jpeg/ ).

No there hasn't been any update. I just never figured out that you could skip any of the TV-dialogue by just holding the button rather than mashing it. I think it was Vhetsikke35 or blackpear who discovered it. In short, any time the captain talks to you through the TV you can just hold the text skip button to skip all of it at once. It doesn't work for places where you talk to someone directly (like when the captain comes down right after the tutorial part, or when talking to Benji), so really only when you spawn in the hub and after you unlock each new world.

On the topic of milliseconds. First of all, I'm not sure how far back you are talking about when you say "back in the day", but if you mean prior to the new layout, then no, the site did not translate 5 ms to 0.5 seconds. (I'm not sure if it did at some point, but for the last two years or so it at least hasn't) Secondly, it really shouldn't because it would be mathematically incorrect. 5 ms is not 0.5 seconds it is 0.005 seconds. https://i.imgur.com/9EPPh2h.png

One solution, and in my opinion a better one, would be to allow for decimal input in the seconds field. That way you could get rid of the millisecond field all together. Not sure how feasible that is, might the depend on the backend, but in that case it would at the very least be unambiguous.

Sorry for the double post, but this is a separate issue. Displaying/rendering the content on a series pages (like https://www.speedrun.com/10_second_ninja ) takes way too long now. I’m not sure what is going on, but I ran it through the performance tool in the Chrome. It consistently takes around 30 seconds to render on my computer.

This is after page load btw, so a client side problem (i.e. your mileage might vary). Tried to investigate a bit what the cause might be, but I didn't really find out much. It just does a lot of recalculation of style, and that seems to be what is taking up the most time.

Edit: One more oddity on the page that might help explain what is going on. When it first loads the body tag is nearly 300 000 pixels tall for some reason. Also the same problems seem to be present on https://www.speedrun.com/games (I'm assuming it is using pretty much the same code)

The "Audit Log" page seems to be quite broken now. Not sure if this was because of the layout changes, but I'm assuming so. The list view seems to straight up not work, all it does is change the results per page, the content is still shown in a grid. In addition, and I'm not sure if this was the case before, but the "context" part is shown inside a <pre> tag. This works fine for most things, but with lengthy forum posts or run descriptions it causes the text to go way outside the main container and creates a huge horizontal scrollbar. This makes it pretty much impossible to read. It also seems that due to the way the information is stored it doesn't even take into account the newlines that are actually present in the post/description (they are displayed as "/r/n" instead).

Edit: Seems that the same problem is present on the "Streams" page (as mentioned here https://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/c0en0/10#4wask ) and also "All Games". So pretty much anywhere you can toggle between grid- and listview.

Hi, and welcome ^^ parkourchicken has mentioned you a couple of times, so I'm glad to see you've decided to join the leaderboard.

The exact date the run was completed isn't super important. In the case of ties it decides who will be placed higher on the leaderboard, where earliest is put highest. In addition it will affect the "WR History" graphs that can be found under statistics, though I doubt many people even know about those. So for the ones where you are uncertain about the date an estimate is completely fine.

As far as evidence of the run goes, I will only accept video evidence that shows the actual run in full (with the new best time shown at the end). So unfortunately screenshots or videos showing the leaderboard are not proof enough. There is sadly a user with clearly cheated times on the PC leaderboards, and I have also personally stumbled upon ways to cheat your times. Doubt anything like that would be possible on Xbox, but I have no way of verifying the console, and in addition screenshots in particular are way too easy to spoof. Hopefully that is alright.

Exited to see your times/strats, even if it means saying goodbye to a lot of my WRs

I'm not 100% certain I understand what you mean, but I'm guessing you are talking about doing like a circle boost off the ledge? In other words ignore all the stuff I do at the bottom and just jump at the latest point possible, turn around at the earliest point possible and shoot. If that is what you mean, then no, that sadly isn't going to work. I was fairly certain it wasn't, but just to be sure I have now also tested it using the TAS tools.

Surprisingly the height isn't actually the problem, it's the horizontal distance that's the limiting factor. Even if you jump at the very latest possible time (7 frames after leaving the ledge) it will take 19 or 20 frames until you are a full block away from the wall we want to shoot at. The latest point after a jump where you can shoot your teleshot and still get a boost is 14 frames (assuming you are exactly a block away, further than that and you would obviously have to shoot earlier). Any later than that and your upwards momentum goes below the boost factor before the teleshot hits. In short, by the time you get far enough from the wall to shoot a teleshot and hit, you are too far into your jump and will not be able to get the boost.

I usually like to figure things like this out a bit more before I make a post about it, but I still don't really have any idea how this works. As far as I know this is the only place in the game where you can do this, I haven't had it happen anywhere else thus far at least.

If anyone has any idea about what is going on here, then I'd love to find out. It's a bit precise, but it's not that hard. I don't really have a setup or anything, I just do the strat I usually do, but mash the jump button at the end.

The video below shows me getting the triple jump two times at normal speed and then once at 20% speed.

Not sure what you mean by Legacy Levels, but if it is basically like All Stars - NNS but just Legacy worlds, then I'm not entirely sure it warrants it's own category. The run would be just around 3 minutes, and it would be the exact same as the last part of AS-NNS. That being said, if you or anyone else actually does a run I might re-consider it. For now though I don't see any good reason to put up a new category. (If I misunderstood what you meant the category should be, then obviously elaborate on what you actually meant and I'll consider things based on that)

I'm fairly certain I know enough about the game and the run to answer your questions, but keep in mind I never actually got around to running this game. It's important right of the bat to note that Zimmy's run uses a glitch/bug that is only found in the very first release on the xbox version of the game. This bug allows you to stack up stats as much as you want, and it is what makes the run as short as it is. This is the main reason I never got around to running it, without the glitch/bug the run will be substantially longer. The bug was fixed before the release on steam so there is no way to down-patch either, I looked into that.

As far as the farming goes, there is a part of the main story that requires a certain type of ammo. This ammo can only be obtained by farming, and it is the highest tier. You're only ever given the lowest tier of seed, and you essentially need to level up the plant. That's why it takes an hour, and there is no way around it really. The best option is probably to combine the farm grind with the level grind in some way. So while you wait for the plant to grow you go do a couple of battles. Never got far enough to start routing, so I have no idea how well that would actually work.

Safe to say a run on the current version, not to mention the re-release, will be very much different to Zimmy's run. You will need much more focus on grinding for levels, and the farm grind is probably not going to take up much time in comparison. Of course I have no idea what the re-release is going to be like, so I might be entirely wrong. Would be very interested to see a run of it though, even if I don't have the time to do it myself. So the best of luck to you ^^
