For an individual run of Meroe, using Taklit's part is definitely faster, but in a Nub's Part run or a full run, clipping or roll glitching could make us not need to pick up Taklit's part in Pudovkin, which saves a few seconds.

In the practice run I did today, I triggered the second wave right as the level started and killed the hyenas that were coming to me as I made my way to the first pyramid. Throughout much of the level I could hear the remaining hyenas running above my head. I don't know if I had especially good luck or if the hyenas do follow you when you're underground, but the three remaining hyenas were all very close to where I get out of the last pyramid. If the hyenas do follow you somehow, then it would make sense to talk to the kid before adventuring in the pyramids. Otherwise I don't really see a save or a waste to do it before or after.

And for the activation order, I think it would make sense to do green-purple-yellow-red, because the slope leading out of the mining pit pretty much faces the green beam so we'd probably save a split second there.

Also, before I forget, I tried renaming start_02_BABYLON as QUICKSAVE so I could reload it quickly just by pressing F8, but (for that level at least) all I get when it reloads is a black screen and the cutscenes don't play. I can move Indy, un-holster the pistol and shoot, and use the whip, but I don't see anything and can't open the menu. Pressing F10 does open the cheatcode bar but even fixme doesn't fix anything... I suppose QUICKSAVE doesn't allow loading on cutscenes, but we'd need verification on that for the other levels. I've pretty much given up on finding a consistent setup for the rolling glitch up the slope in Babylon... It's the only trick in the level for which jumping from the exact same position doesn't always work (or should I say, barely ever works)... If any of you has a consistent setup for this I'd be exalted if you shared it!

Your video is great! Do you plan on leaving it where it is on Dropbox? If so, I'll just update the catalogue of tricks to include them with that video as a reference. Otherwise, I'll just record them myself and upload them on Twitch and link those. It's nice to see precisely how to pull that block! Although I don't really see any value added to do it in a speedrun. I'll try the rolling glitch and see which way is better. Meroe is the level I'm currently mapping and grinding so it's great to find things in it! For the record, you can also clip behind the eye block at any given time:

I've tried the Peru trick using your save, q94471, but when it loads the game softlocks looking at the big boulder and I have to end the game using the task manager; not very convenient. Any idea why that may be? Also, I seem unable to pull the block enough in Meroe to access the green room, nor to clip through the small crevice. I think your idea of lighting all firewoods before killing the hyenas is good! And also killing them with a shotgun takes only one hit (on the easiest difficulty at least). As for the waves of hyenas, I took the habit of spawning the second wave right when the level starts, but then they don't seem to spawn all at once...

Hey guys! Just a quick word to say I've uploaded a tool in the "Resources" section. It's a catalogue of all (even the obsolete ones) tricks, glitches, and skips found so far, listed chronologically within each level, with a reference video for each. I thought it would help any newcomers if (or when!!) there are some, and also those of us who already run the game. Cheers!

I use display capture because it's the only one that actually lets me record the game window itself... It's like the game isn't in a window in itself so I can't use window or game capture to get only that. That's the reason why the first and last images of all of my streams are my OBS :P I change my screen resolution to 1024 x 768 (the lowest my display allows) before I start recording. Here are the settings I used for yesterday's stream. I hope you liked how the graphics looked then: /////OUTPUT: Output Mode: Simple Video Bitrate: 1500 Encoder: Software (x264) Audio Bitrate: 160 /////AUDIO: Sample rate: 44.1khz Channels: Stereo Desktop Audio Device: Default (Speakers Realtek High Definition Audio) Mic/Auxiliary Audio Device: Default (Microphone Realtek High Definition Audio) /////VIDEO: Base (Canvas) Resolution: 1366 x 768 Output (Scaled) Resolution: 908 x 512 Downscale Filter: Bicubic (Sharpened scaling, 16 samples) FPS: 30 /////ADVANCED: Process Priority: Normal Video Renderer: Direct3D 11 Color Format: NV12 YUV Color Space: 601 YUV Color Range: Partial Windows audio docking disabled Stream delay disabled

Did I forget anything? Hope it helps!

Hi guys! I thought of something that could be a nice hybrid (both in length and in difficulty) between running individual levels and running the whole game (which, let's face it, is long!) My suggestion is the following: split the game in "part" categories, which would end when we get the eponymous part: Urgon's Part:

 • Canyonlands
 • Babylon
 • Tian Shan River
 • Shambala Sanctuary Taklit's Part:
 • Palawan Lagoon
 • Palawan Volcano
 • Palawan Temple Azerim's Part:
 • Jeep Trek
 • Teotihuacan
 • Olmec Valley Nub's Part:
 • V.I. Pudovkin
 • Meroe
 • King Sol's Mines
 • Nub's Tomb Infernal Machine:
 • Infernal Machine
 • Aetherium (Could also include Return to Peru but doesn't have to since it doesn't really fit in the storyline)

What do you think? I already did a tryout of Urgon's Part in my May 9th stream on Twitch (with countless quicksaves reloads though!):

Cheers!

@Molotok: Quicksaving is a nasty habit of mine indeed... I wasn't exactly sure if quicksaving was allowed or not in single segments. Also, I wasn't too sure about the definition of "single segment". The way I saw it was that it was in one standing, so not necessarily without quicksaves. Of course, I understand that it would be easy to edit other segments in the reloading cinematic, but I figured that since my runs are going to be taken directly from my streams, it wouldn't matter so much. But thanks for specifying!

Does OBS have a timer in it? I downloaded WSplit and it won't show in-game. I initially wanted to go with XSplit to record but it wouldn't work so I'll give OBS a try since you brought it up!

edit: Also, can you tell me how you manage to record the game window? I can record the menu and the savefile selection, but once I get in the game itself, I lose the image and only get the sound... Thanks!

Hey guys,

I'm new to the online community for Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine. I just managed to install the game on my laptop, and I intend to start running it soon! I used to run it for myself back in the day (like 10 years ago), but I never recorded or timed any of my runs then...

I'm interested in running the full game, and I have a question regarding the label "100%". Does it just mean that it's the full game (i.e. all 17 levels in one segment) or does it also mean that all treasures need to be found? That can play on the time a lot!

Thanks in advance and I look forward to talking with you guys soon! Cheers!
