Do themes even inherit any more, or were they just copied over once with the new system? It may have been written such that it inherits once on game creation if it was through the series.

The point is that the site doesn't have generalized code to handle this on a per user basis right now, so an influx of requests to do this would be cumbersome right now.

pld: He's very active and runs a lot of games, I'd recommend discussing it with him. I think only certain SRL racers would know the preferred GB emulators. Many people don't race or run GB games, so I wouldn't really consider it common knowledge.

InfiniteSheldor: It looks like it was sorted out for now. This is the correct thread for the requests.

RE_Snow: Considering that neither of them run this game, and they're mostly there from the previous splitup of RE games, and haven't seemingly been active with this game, I think this is fine.

I want support for multiple full-game and IL leaderboards per game for cases like this, but that likely won't be implemented any time soon.

I can't really offer any helpful suggestion currently, sorry. Perhaps other people have ideas.

In regards to ROMaster's list

Homebrew Multi Pre-Release

Possibly "Sub-game" (for now, I'd like a better solution later) Possibly Mobile?

Anything else come to mind?

It's easy under the current interface to handle these requests.

Forstride: Adding Warioware series because it seems to make sense.

Token: Just ask, instead of asking to ask. =P In terms of mobile and flash games and things of that nature, I have mixed opinions about adding vs not adding them to series, I don't really have a good feel for what the policy/expectation should be.

I believe the notion of a PB is calculated every time the run is loaded right now, which probably isn't optimal. It gets similarly complex when we would go to delete a run if the PBs were cached.

thread: The Site

I don't know/remember anything about this.

thread: The Site
United Stateskirkq9 years ago

Yeah, that method sort of works for most things for now. I'd still like a way to get all games with a given game as the parent game.

dcruze: Generalizing it, you'd have to know that column B is acceptable in column A, but not vice versa. It might make sense hard coded for things called "time with loads" and "time without loads", but if we generalize the timer names and quantities, it becomes something like "intersperse this into this other specified column." Then we have stuff like "intersperse these two times into this other column prioritized in this order", which basically suggests some priority list of "A is faster than B is faster than C, so C is a valid time in A and B, and B is a valid time in A. It's actually quite complex to implement well.

Token: A mod expectations list should probably be a thing. If we had PMs the expectation wouldn't need to be to have a contact source, but I don't know when we'll have PMs.

You can do text view now: http://www.speedrun.com/games

It's similar in layout to what we had before.

There's not a good way to hide runs right now. It could be improved.

Generally we've allowed people to have a couple accounts, especially to test and better understand how moderation works from both sides. Just don't be dumb about it and it's fine with me. Just don't maintain mod for games on multiple accounts.

If you want to poke Pac to add the feature in a way generalized for all users, it's much more maintainable. It's basically hard coded right now, which is bleh.

Don't ask for ROM links on the forums. Also don't post threads pertaining to specific games on the "The Site" forums.

The options affecting organization of the game from a site level are restricted to full mod and above access right now. This is primarily so people don't arbitrarily mark or unmark things to misrepresent the game in the search mechanisms. All previous rom hacks and mods were converted to rom hacks for now. We'll have to review these to decide what should in fact be mods. (We also need to define ROM Hack vs mod, but it should be clear enough for most games.)

As far as the Rom Hacks/Mods link, it is gone for now since a lot of the code around it was restructured. We might be able to make a replacement that shows all games with the given game as the parent game.

I switched the given case to a "mod"

I think the plan is to allow text view as well as game box view when we implement it. Having it integrated into one page should make site navigation simpler.

Would it be able to set a default sort mode either on each series or on your own personal settings?
Yeah something like this needs to be done. I'm inclined to go with having a setting for it per series.
I think default site view for series should be the old chronological, oldest to newest (Release date, ascending). Default sort mode per user to override that may be sufficient. Per series is maybe okay as well.

For the game cover discussion, my understanding is that we eventually want to be able to switch these pages between text view and game cover view.

We do have site backups daily. I am unsure if we could recover something that was up less than a day, but we do have logs of who did what with it. It needs some improvement for sure.

We need to clean up some of the system regarding editing/deleting posts. It may also require things like "hiding" posts and better sense of "locking" posts. Would probably also be good to allow controlled banning from single forums.
