"Mega Man, alternatively written as Megaman and MegaMan, known as Rockman (ロックマン? Rokkuman) in Japan, is a video game franchise created by Capcom, starring the robot character Mega Man, or one of his many counterparts."

Moving the discussion here to isolate it from the "The Site" thread. Please keep this specific topic out of that topic for now if possible.

Those posts are here: http://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/63nr7/157#2xyae

The issue of Megaman Leaderboards obviously has a lot of history, and the situation has always been suboptimal situation for a variety of reasons. API discussions have been had a few times and haven't happened due to a variety of reasons, including the time, effort, and coordination required.

The current argument goes something like the following: 1: Some users are of the opinion SRC should have moderation reflecting MMLB. 2: Some MMLB moderators don't want to spend additional effort synchronizing runs on SRC. 3: Some MMLB moderators decide not to let people submit on SRC because they don't want to use it or synchronize it.

It is and has been my opinion that there are some number of people who play Megaman games that want to track all of their runs on one site or with one API. I still find it ridiculous for users of another site to claim ownership of a board on a different site and tell other people they can't use it. I personally do not sanction the use of "NO RUNS HERE", I've been minimally tolerant of it for now because the situation is crappy, complex, and nuanced all around. I don't like it. Pac may have slightly varying opinions on the matter.

The person being proposed by a couple people to run the boards here seems strongly against Megaman runs being tracked on this site to some degree, and seems to regularly get into strong disagreements over the topic, one of which was the reason for why this topic is being discussed right now. In my opinion the users were requesting to not have to work with the person creating strong disagreements at this site, which I still find to be a pretty reasonable request given the circumstances.

Is there some middle ground in between "People can't track runs here" and "Board moderation isn't representing the community"? Serious question.

There is also this old thread on the topic: http://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/pb5j2

Since I was pointed here, I'm just going to lock this thread because it's going nowhere.

It will be left largely to the moderators to decide how/if to track the Chinese version. I understand there are language barriers here, but the majority of users at this site seem okay with the consensus for what is tracked on this site and how it is tracked.

If all Japanese users thought one way and all US users thought another, there is no correct answer for everyone, so the moderators would probably go with the consensus of the people actively using the site right now. Many of the posts on this site seem fine with the way moderation is being handled. There are also search filters to look at the specific data set you want to look at, if you don't want to see the Chinese version.

You're welcome to have your opinion certainly, but this thread has gotten out of hand and there's nothing productive being discussed here at this point.

I don't think posting multiple times an hour is changing anyone's opinion about anything.

There is plenty of rational discussion on the topic here: http://www.speedrun.com/re3/thread/2kr1z

The text/list view exists in the top right of the page with the icons. I think it also keeps track of your preference.

I think you should reconsider that organizing a marathon and getting involvement might take more than 3 days. The context here does not suggest success with this current plan.

the_hat: It looks like you were added.

CronoRegen: I'd recommend discussing it with the current mod, possibly via the forums.

Ico: Single inactive moderator, ok.

Nagohara: Submit the run first, and then wait a reasonable amount of time.

SirSlappyMcGee: Run pending, ok.

Cr3eVe: Discuss it with the current moderators.

TheREV: Discuss it with the current moderators, which apparently didn't happen.

TanyaProject: Another user asked earlier in the thread. They were added, so that should handle the inactivity issue.

ZypherTheSpeedy: Run pending, inactive moderator, ok.

Zer0z: Discuss it with the current moderators. This thread is intended to be a last resort if runs aren't being processed and things of that nature.

chryoyo: Run pending over a month, ok.

PojeBunny: This seems consistent enough with the board logs. You can add moderators without having others removed, obviously.

Dan9er: It's not particularly important for a small series like that to have an active series moderator so long as the games have active moderators. If one of the game moderators for that series requests to be added, I can do that.

Tokida_san: It looks like you were added.

Unessential: I added you as a regular mod since this seems to be a recurring thing.

Rexbasedcereal: Removed them due to inactivity.

RealLordFrieza: It looks like your run was added.

Andonuts64: Either this was deleted for being empty or I can't find it in the search bar. Please link it here or submit a game request if it no longer exists.

Tandashi: Added due to inactivity.

The_Retro_Challenger: It looks like you were added.

DarQ_Massacres: It looks like he logged on.

Laseki/CriscoWild: Another site staff handled this.

Jetabb: Added due to inactivity.

ssjvegito: Since you run the other games and the mod is inactive, ok.

TeaDrank: Yeah a user got pretty banned after reviewing the logs, generally I'd recommend not adding others users to moderate unless they run the game or they are really active with the site.

LuckySoeedruns: The policy I've been going by for deleting names is one year offline and no activity. I added this clarification to the first post. I can change your name to something else if you want.

CronoRegen: Same as above. I've been consistently enforcing this for most of the life of this thread, though it didn't make the first post until now.

Ewan787: A user named Happy has a run, so I won't change your name to that. You don't have to ask twice unless we miss the post, which isn't often.

Enigma_: I'm not deleting users with runs/posts or changing their names.

Tron_Javolta: Deleted it

EnderLordJamal: A user Sylux has a run so I'm not changing it to that.

There is a pretty solid automated mechanism in place that catches a lot of this, but it needs some additional filters for the latest waves of spam.

ROMaster can figure out what to do with Injustice. The rest of the requests were handled up to here where applicable to this thread, (and keeping in mind I can't add base games).

How would one know how to mod if one hasn't been added as a mod?

Site staff was doing some cleanup of covers and probably went a bit far. We're not going to further mess with game covers without discussion unless yours are particularly awful and/or non-existent and things of that nature. Feel free to revert them, sorry for the headache. They do cache, so it can take a bit to see the updates to the images.

Tend to agree - "It's legal, but generally bad practice."

I don't personally see anything wrong with self-verifying, but some people/boards take issue with it. Top time without a video can often be a problem. It's better if people just post videos if they have ability to do so, generically speaking.

Seems like this is an issue. Unless someone knows something I don't.

Fangame added. Also added Minecraft series to the other game which was indeed missing, but base game is still broken.

GamerWarrior/etc: I missed that the original post wanted the posting account deleted as well. That's done now.

OMR: The existing account basically logged in once and was over 11 months inactive with no runs, so with these specific conditions I deleted it and changed your name.

YW1: That account name has 104 runs, so apparently not.

imajin: Added since run is there now.

drgrumble: Added

Kitsunemitsu+: This run has been pending well over 3 weeks so I'm fine with adding you.

Rainbow_Lemon: It looks like things were added for now. I'm going to leave it as is for now. If inactivity continues to be an issue we can address it.

Seya27: That user is pretty active to my knowledge.

Connor5499/ROMaster2: I'm speculating the board was deleted due to 2 weeks of no setup possibly in conjunction with accidental self-removal. Could've been something else though. The board was readded for now.

Lady_Vroom-Vroom: Run pending, adding due to inactivity.

GhostScit: The forums for the game seem to be active enough to deal with issues like this. It looks like there was a delayed submission in the logs, but it was updated at one point? It's possible the site notification got messed up, but I've not specifically seen that before.

Meerkat: Added due to inactivity.

Unessential: It looks like your run was added.

ANGEL_UNDEAD: It looks like your run was added.

Bemels: It looks like someone added you.

Senna72: I handled this one after checking the logs.

TheBeastlyNES: Since you moderate others and the user is inactive, ok.

01garland01: I added you, you can move things around, or add people. Feel free to remove yourself if desired; not really sure to what extent you were volunteering.

cody_the_codeman: I made changes and added you.

marc2427: Since it's a small board with some inactivity and you have runs pending I added you.

Axion: I'd recommend discussing this with the moderator, perhaps via the game's forums.

jackgamer: I'll probably add you if you do a run since it's pretty inactive. I don't see any runs pending for that game by you.

Jumpyluff: Yeah, it looks like you've been a mod on those for over 12 months (since not in audit log) and less than 18 months (game creation) As far as I know all moderators should be able to self-remove. If that is not true, let me know.

Sorry for the the lateness. I'll catch up with the other threads later this weekend.

NekohDot: You're very much not allowed to add games outside the limits of the series you moderate. Use the game request form. Tic-Tac-Toe is too generic and short length of a game to bother tracking. I deleted the offending games.
