http://i.imgur.com/2kc174q.png I have managed to spawn a Sentinel by

  • being on a rocket rampage
  • being where the screenshot shows
  • having a Taxi
  • and making and spamming very short replays

The Sentinel just appeared out of thin air. It has some interesting features:

  • You can morph it into other cars via a replay. It only works in certain locations in the game, and the car that replaces the Sentinel is dependent of the location.
  • It can't take physical damage and the damage on the hood can't be repaired.
  • The game doesn't seem to recognize it as a car. Save file editors can't see it.

Is this useful? No. Is this interesting? Yes. Can this be reproduced? Probably, I haven't managed to do it.

making a short replay and playing that is very consistent for me as well. we'll need to time the rampage's end right, though, since it can't really be in the cutscene

You can get the weapons from a rampage by failing it in a replay. What you need to do is simple: trigger a replay the exact frame the rampage ends. It gives you rockets for Silence the Sneak, E2G, Bait, Arms Shortage, etc, if you pull this trick off with the Rocket Rampage during Payday for Ray.

The optimal way of doing this is to spam a replay from another island, as the loading time seems to allow you to "buffer" the replays to some extent.

You have to go out of Phil's place so that the cars spawns earlier, the video is self explanatory. This is slower than current any% strats by about 8s, but it's faster in 100%, because you have rockets already.

The HUD gets broken because of dead E2G, otherwise it's fine. After you instapass Gone Fishing, the mission script restarts, so you need to cancel it with a Taxi/Vigilante sidemission. Dying doesn't end said script.

Still needs to be routed into AM and hundo, if it saves time.

you start e2g first, with a rampage. then the rampage timer ends then you pick up gone fishing then you jump out of the mission marker after the instapass so you wont pick up Plaster Blaster (crashes the game) then gone fishing restarts for some reason, but with the on mission flag set to 0 you need to get rid of the ghost mission script, right? well dying doesnt end it, because you are on on mission 0. nor does getting busted so you use a taxi or vigi submission to cancel it. you can still cancel the mission by getting yourself to on mission 1 then dying, but it's slow and pointless.

notice that you are on omf0 after the instapass. so you just literally get in a copcar, start and cancel vigilante to get rid of the ghost mission<<< then you continue by doing Plaster Blaster or whatever you wanna do

[LCS] is it fine to pause for about 15s every so often to stretch? about every half an hour. i ask because of this:

The mods of the game reserve the right to disallow any runs found intentionally circumventing this rule (ie: pausing for 19 seconds, unpausing and instantly pausing again).

There are two triggers. The bigger one is triggered with the dodo early. That ones loads the guys on the ground, and it allows the second trigger to happen.

The second trigger does not extend to the roof that we land on, so we land on that roof, pick up the rocket that we aren't supposed to, them trigger the cutscene by dropping down a bit on the stairs. This allows us to shoot the heli right away, for a 'zero cycle' kill.

The first trigger covers the whole area, so we trigger it in an area the second trigger does not cover, to avoid accidentally triggering the cutscene.

  • The strat could save about 15-20s if done perfectly. Since it only saves the drive back to Donald's place, minus the replay length. And the drive is pretty short.

I tested this for a while, here are the results:

  • You can get back to Donald's place if you have a sportscar from Waka Gashira, including going to the Ammu Nation and getting the banshee at the docks.
  • The weather in the replay can be different to what the weather was when you recorded the replay. If the weather changes to calm to storm, the boat in the replay will take a rather different route because of it, causing you to miss the packages.
  • The strat could save about 35s, see karl's comment below.
  • I have not attempted to find reference points for the packages.

I believe this is not worth the time save unless someone can find a good replay route and the weather issue proves to not be that much of a problem. Would be cool in segmented runs, though.

You can set up this trick during the two and a half minutes of waiting during the mission. What you have to do is memorize the package locations, pick up the mission, then get to the docks ASAP, set up the replay while going as fast as possible with the boat, then drive back to Donald's place, and activate the replay after the final package had dropped already. I have not tested whether it's possible to make all of this happen in time, but it should be.

You can NOT pick up the same package multiple times.

ILs are necessary, since certain movement strats (like pressing down at the same time as pressing left/right, other srats with the key 'down') change Barney's movement slightly. This way, I believe that some frames can be spared. Unfortunately, the Any% timing method is in seconds, so grinding out this strat is pointless, since I don't really see it saving more than 1s.

If this game had ILs, they would advance the speedrun.

Seems to be totally consistent and it's 1s faster than WR when done sloppy like I did. It can be about 5s faster, I think.

Key moments:

  • Take the flying route I took, keep low to trigger the enemies. Go higher when you approach the trigger zone for the cutscene so that you don't trigger it.
  • Land on the roof.
  • Pick up rockets.
  • Jump down behind those containers to trigger the cutscene. Keeps you safe.
  • Shoot down the heli.
  • Go up, kill m16 guy as seen in the vid, on the stairs.
  • Get Maria.

Hey all,

You can try getting a first try win by holding down F2 (New Game) and mashing Left Mouse Button.

The game resets immediately after you click the first field.

It's a very efficient strat, although I don't have the patience to grind out a frame perfect run this way.

Apparently the 'touching the barracks' strat has the same results as the 'touching the grass patch before the barracks' (<- that one is easier).

The result is consistent good pattern, so far with 100% consistency (I and Chivu tested it quite a lot).

EDIT: Here is a quick summary so that you don't have to dig through this thread to get the info. The strat to get consistent good patterns during Bait is that you touch the grass near Phil's place. Examples: 'touching grass patch' # # (with an intentional shit turn in front of the dam car) # (went behind USJ which usually gives bad dam car, but didn't here) #

I and Chivu and Karl and others were testing Dodo Bait quite a lot lately, here are some VODs from my latest testing session.

The video titles are self explanatory, the videos contain the setups.

The purpose of this is to get rid of the Dodo Bait 'pattern RNG', to find a consistent setup. The videos labeled NEW ROUTE have not failed me yet, it's pretty promising. EDIT: The new route is bad, but the 'grass touching' and 'barracks touching' works well, good pattern every time.

If I get a good pattern and they shoot the first car I can use two rockets to blow up the other two cars, but if the AI dies before the first car, I am dead. Also, if I get a bad pattern and the dam guy takes ages to get to the trap, I am dead 100% if the AI can't deal with the second car.

However, if the AI works and shoots the cars, it works pretty much every time.

Question: am I doing something wrong that makes the AI not shoot the cars?

I tried maybe 10-15 bait's and only got 1 where the AI almost didn't kill the second car, but other than that it was fine... I haven't yet seen a pattern where I get two cars at the same time, so I'm worried there could be something that could go wrong there also.

I feel like Bait is always going to be riddled with some form of AI RNG. At any rate, there were also consistency issues with the other strategy too, with the exception that you could help out the Yakuza's by drive-by shooting the Cartel.

I guess I will always have that worry in the back of my head about whether or not "this will be the run that the strat doesn't work on" or something like that, but at the same time I really need the small time save (2-8s (depending on the car you would have gotten off the road)). I'm not sure if I've explained this before, but to catch the optimal bridge cycle on E2G, you have to play nearly perfectly from gtaero and on to catch the bridge. Missing a bridge cycle loses around 26s real time. Read more

Márton Nagy 22 hours ago +Ssj4vegeto50 I have gotten a pattern with all the cars arriving at the same time, it worked, but the third car got really close to my plane so that blowing it up was rather risky. I will try to highlight that later today. I will also highlight the dead AI ones.

Ssj4vegeto50 13 hours ago +Márton Nagy hmm... I just did a random attempt and got the ai freeze too. Maybe my savefile is the answer as to why it was more consistent during trial runs of it. If this keeps occurring during attempts we'll just have to completely forget about this strat and return to the other one.

Ssj4vegeto50 4 hours ago +Márton Nagy I'm not sure if it's just me, but it worked sort of. Could you try it out and tell me what happens? Just double tap F1 whenever the Yakuza are frozen and the Cartel are out of their vehicle. When I tested it some froze, but one of the men still shot at me, so I'm not sure if it's just a fluke.
