Looking into this. Sorry about the 60 FPS thing, my mistake. Those runs will be rejected.
Currently adding a list of allowed emulators as well as showing FPS in the rules. Right now, the list includes MAME, RetroArch, & BizHawk. If there's something wrong with this list please let me know.
I will say I am surprised to learn that Fusion is inaccurate for SMS emulation. I've seen some SMS boards allow it, so I am curious as to why. Regardless, I'm ok with banning Fusion, especially since the runs that do use it already break the 50 FPS rule.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Once again, apologies for all of this.
@TheGaming100 I'm not even going to argue with you. You either straight-up didn't read what I said or just don't care. Good for you.
There's more to speedrunning this game than what meets the eye. Even though this game is an "autoscroller", there are still ways to go faster, either through abusing skips, hitting speed portals differently, optimizing menuing, and lag reduction.
Furthermore, with the new update, we have an entire new platformer gamemode, so saying this game is just an "autorunner" is also just an inaccurate statement.
I recommend you do some research instead of just making a forum post like this.
That has been brought up in the Discord server a few days ago and there was a lengthy conversation about it. Here are a few points as to why it won’t be added.
-
The auto-splitter doesn’t support a “Hybrid” playstyle (that’s what we called it in the conversation and what I’ll continue to use for this post). The auto-splitter has different modes for the different gameplay styles, and as such, has to be switched manually. This means that all categories cannot include both platformer and classic levels, they can only be one or the other.

Platformers can always get shorter. We’ve already seen plenty of platformer levels get times as low as 13 seconds, with one even going down to 12. It is possible that in the future, the optimal route for a Hybrid category would just be platformer levels only, effectively making Hybrid itself useless.
Because of these reasons, we aren’t making a Hybrid sub-category, and we don’t have any plans of making one in the future. Sorry.
If that becomes a thing, can we at least still keep the trend of using a forum thread to talk and share about it? :(
Hate to bring this back from the dead, but 2.2 fixed the 2-player buffer bug (at least on iOS). So now there’s 0 excuse to delete the dual wave. Furthermore, Window Resize got patched, and if you think that somehow makes it better, refer to the point I made about triviality.
This category is still never getting added and I have yet to see an actual authentic run.
Thread locked.

@Tails_The_Fox You submitted a 37 minute time to 96 Exit? No wonder it got rejected. Seems like you should be more careful in submitting runs.
@tark_el_god You didn’t collect any of the Secret Coins, so yes, Any% would be correct.
@TheNoSwearGuy Off the top of my head, I think the only one that’s outright impossible is Ice Gauntlet because Window Bug was patched. I expect 1-8’s, 1-14’s, & 1-18’s WRs to be harder to beat in 2.2.
Speeding up the whole game requires setting your FPS a ridiculously high value. We have an FPS cap, so no.
Ignore it for now. Verifications on all categories that aren’t the Tower are paused. If you’re running the Tower, read the rules specific to it and you’ll be fine.
Hey everyone! Last year, I made a forum thread where you can share what games you’ve speedran during that year. Here’s this year’s thread. I can’t fill mine out right now because I’m on vacation, but the template for you to use is down below. Have fun!
