The gv-usb2 does composite and s-video, not component. And yeah, it’s a Japanese product but is basically the gold standard for capturing older consoles in good quality for that price so there’s tons of tutorials in English. It’s also only 2 button clicks to install the drivers so even if you click the wrong button you just install some extra stuff that’s not required.
Tbh you’re better of buying a gv-usb2 for $30-$40 to capture older consoles instead of going through this hassle. I’m not saying you can’t do it, since as already pointed out a timer doesn’t matter, but it just seems a little round about for me.
It takes as much time as site staff needs to get to it and review it. It may be 3 days, it may be 3 weeks. 1-2 weeks (like Shiken posted, it says on the request screen itself) is average but there are outliers and it’s not a hard promise.
Lmao. Okay.
Some people don’t want their times on the site so mods can’t just add them. Additionally, nobody can ever claim something as a definitive WR because who knows what exists outside the realm of video. I think you’re looking into the term a little too much, most people here know that the term can be loose and there might be a faster time somewhere else.
(As an aside, I don’t think the site ever actually calls anything a WR, just 1st place. It’s only users and communities who generally use the term)
Be warned, Flash Games are subject to harsh standards to be added to the site. This is due to the high volume of short runs for obscure flash games that are a dime a dozen. Flash games have to be very notable or provide a very convincing run to be added. Your game may not get added for that reason.
Yes, that was established 2 months ago. And Liv said there was no way to do it.
Definite “fairly good”. We need specs.
Similar to your other post in the Streaming forum, we need more information than this vague post. What are you trying to achieve? Are you looking for a good computer for futzing around on the Internet and doing homework? Do you want to stream in 1080p60fps? Do you want to do hardcore video editing? We can’t recommend anything without details.
http://www.tasvideos.org is what you’re looking for
The delete game button only exists for 2 weeks after a game is added. Those games have existed longer than 2 weeks so site staff needs to do it.

Do a full run and submit it.
No, it makes no sense to separate them. Both consoles and versions are easy to access and use. No point is splitting them.
Also, a blanket statement of VC being faster isn’t always true. I think it’s true right now for that most part (shoutouts to iQue still being faster for glitchless), but it hasn’t always been the case. Since the consoles have a history of flip flopping which one is fastest, splitting them doesn’t make sense.
Lmfao what opinion did you even specify? Your OP is just a nonsensical post about (I think?) a random run you may or may not have done with your brother. I don’t understand what your point is.
Also, your use of capitalization is grating on the eyes.
You think everyone is hostile the second they criticize you. They’re not hostile, you’re just behaving in a way that warrants criticism. Also, this statement
And I have been patient. I just hope now you guys will actually deal with it now since I brought attention to it.
was selfish and irritating. Just because you make a forum post doesn’t mean your request suddenly deserves higher priority. That’s probably why the mods got a bit irritated in their responses to you. And to answer your question, no, you shouldn’t DM someone right at the 2 week mark.
There were several threads the last week or so where the content mods made it clear they had a huge backlog of games to sort through so it was obvious it was going to take time to get through everything. The 2 week point is also not a hard guarantee, it’s just an estimate. Sometimes it’ll take a bit longer, sometimes much sooner. Messaging someone exactly at the two week mark will probably be more annoying than anything. If it goes well beyond that, then maybe you can drop a message to someone (but I’d let a content mod speak to that).
Well pretty much the same thing. No game is really that hard to play casually, especially Zelda. The series is generally pretty forgiving to new players and the games tend to have a decent learning curve (NES ones excluded). So, none of them are really that difficult to play or get into. Skyward Sword can be a bit harder if you’ve never done motion controls for a game or Majoras Mask might be hard with the time restrictions, but even those aren’t terrible.
As long as you’re generally good at puzzles and exploration, you won’t find any of the later Zelda games very hard to get into. I personally can’t rank them beyond that because none of them (aside from maybe SS) have any parts that are incredibly hard to do.
If I couldn’t tell a run was faked or cheated, then yeah, I’d accept it because what grounds do I have to reject it? If someone asked why I rejected their run, what do I tell them? It looked too good? That makes zero sense and is completely unfair.
The difference between a lot of games and TAS is how skilled you are - this is especially true for older games. In some games it’s easy to catch TAS like tricks, but in others it’s much harder. Catching skilled cheaters is always hard and will always be hard, that’s why spliced runs went uncaught for like a decade in some games like SM64. However people who are that skilled and out that much time into it are few and far between.
Cheating will always happen in something like this, however most times it’ll be easy to spot. But on rare occasions you’ll get someone who does it very good and gets always with it for some time. You can do everything you possibly can to catch it and stop it and that’s what matters. Nobody expects mods to catch every cheated run because realistically that’s not possible if someone dedicated years to faking a run and making it look real. This is also why certain games ban various emulators to prevent TAS tools from being available and considering how easy faking can be on emu.
But if you truly think that rejecting a run for being good, almost too good, with no other proof is acceptable then idk what to tell you. So instead I’ll give you an analogy - imagine a teacher giving a zero on a report because it was plagiarized. When they’re asked what part was plagiarized, they say “I don’t know, but this report was so good I felt it had to be plagiarized so you get a zero”. They can’t do that, you can’t punish someone for something you think is true without proving it.
Get it now?
No because you telling me it’s fake is the proof I need to reject it.
That was an awful example.
As a side note this is a bad, very bad, precedent to set
if the moderators have reason to suspect that a run is fake and can't trust it, then it's fine for them to reject that run, even if they don't have definitive proof.
Rejecting a run as cheated without proof should get you automatically removed as a moderator in my opinion. You can’t just reject a run because you think it might be cheated or faked. You need to have some form of proof otherwise you could have mods rejecting runs for the hell of it and claiming “suspicion”. If a mod thinks a run needs deeper looking into, it’s fine to convey that to the person so they can maybe clearer up some confusion in the submission, but you can’t just reject it.
That’s not really a comparison you can make, not just from a speedrunning perspective but from a game perspective too. Not only are the 3D Zelda games completely different (OOT plays drastically different than TP or SS), the glitches and tricks required for them vary greatly including setups. Each game is hard and easy in their own regard.
