Can't you do like, add a "catch them all" for each route?

The catch them all for all routes would be too long. But 1 run for every route seems fun.

Although I've just checked the wiki:

"It should be clarified that if there are 2 Pokémon in group B or group A, only one of them will appear on each ride. For example, if group A has Magby and Wobbuffet on a route, only one of them will come out and if we want the other we would have to come back from the walk and start another walk on the same route to see if the other Pokémon appears this time. And if not, be restarting the ride on the same route constantly until the Pokémon that comes out is the one we want" So I'm not sure on how fitting it is

The moderators of https://www.speedrun.com/Van10 (myself included) asked the Supermod of the series to create Category Extensions of the game. The supermod Astr0 gave us https://www.speedrun.com/ce , but we don't know how to link it on the main game as "category extensions". Astr0 seems lost as well.

What do?

I added a New minigame, where you race the penguin with Sonic on Polastraits.

The game doesn't recognize it as a minigame, and won't provide an IGT Timer. It also won't allow you to replay the race once you've won once.

But it functionally works as one. So I added it, as an RTA.

To solve the replayability issue: I added on 'Resources' a Savestate for Bizhawk emulator. So that players can reset freely to their Savestate before the race.

(The Savestate is for the European version. Nintendo won't allow me to share a ROM, so I hope finding the ROM is no issue. If anybody has a Savestate for the American/Japanese/Korean/etc version, feel free to upload it)

Sadly, Console players will have a harder time speedruning the Sonic minigame.

Hi since I noticed you can give feedback about stuff on SRC (I noticed 3 days ago, because I needed help and posted a thread here) I wanted to leave some feedback on the notations and subcategories.

I can't add notations to a specific subcategory. If I want to add notations to a specific "Level" category, all of the subcategories will receive the new notation. It'd be nice if you could choose to give the notation to 1 specific subcategory without giving it to the others. Not that I need it right now, I was just testing my options.

I'm on a laptop and when I want to view a new subcategory, most times the screen automatically scrolls up or teleports up. It's annoying to scroll down every time as if a new page was loaded. This doesn't happen when you want to view another category, this doesn't happen with subcategories that use the "dropdown" format, it only happens with subcategories that use the "buttons" format, so I'm assuming this is not a feature. But regardless, it'd be more appealing if it stays in place.

Maybe it's sidetracking a bit, but searching for games by "most active players" is not as cool as searching by "most runs submitted actively" / "most activity", because watching record feuds between 2 players is kinda cool. "Most active players" doesn't account for the amount of runs being submitted by 2 commited runners who are cornering each other, it just accounts for the player activity. I guess "most recent world records" would show that.

Hi, I was wondering what to select if a runner submits a run played with a drawing tablet (because they use the tablet to perform faster slides)

The options available are: Android, "PC", Windows Phone and iOS. But no "iPad", "Tablet" or likewise. What should the players select?

I added a distinction between Any% and Vanilla/ Glitchless because they run with very different strategies and even the optimal character changes.

But there are too few players to just split the category... which has been scaring me away from touching anything for a while now.

It was my personal thought that both Styles deserve exposure and distinction, because they are charming and they entertain in unique ways.

I'm not entirely sure of whether I am in the right to do such a thing, so it might be temporary. If you have a strong opinion on the topic (which I can understand from the WR Holder, for instance) leave some feedback.

I'm not creating new "News" because I'm scared of officially adding Emulator to Adventure Tours hahahahahha so now everybody knows it's allowed but I won't split it until there hasn't been a submitted Emu run

You can start from a reset on most categories. No need to select character every time.

Rookie mode doesn't have some stages unlocked, the stages are Alabasta and Skypea. So if these 2 stages show up, it's normal mode. Some characters won't show up on Rookie but they do show up in normal, so Easy mode only has as enemies: the Straw hats, Boa Hankok and Bartholomew Kuma.

Hard mode will always have characters whose life bar is filled up to the top. Normal mode has some characters who don't have their life bar filled up. So you can distinguish between Normal and Hard mode in Battle 1 or in Battle nº 2.

Superhard mode (for Battle Royale) starts Battle nº 2 with 3 characters, meanwhile, Hard mode still forces you to play against 2 enemies on Battle nº 2. So you can distinguish bewteen Battle Royale Hard and Superhard. But that's not the case for the Taiman category.

Plus the final stage will always be the cherry tree stage on the easier categories.

I hope this helps both the runners and the moderators. Exiting every time is super tiresome.

I know cyberscore and VGR allow Score minigames, BUT they won't allow multiplayer.

For Pair minigames that's a big shame. Tbh relying on the AI to reach a highscore, instead of your own friend, on a Pair minigame is dull

From what I understand, speedrun.com allows Score events and they won't pursue the communities or moderators that add them. There was a debate, from what I read: speedrun.com is not super on board but they decided to not remove any scores and let the communities be.

That's why I thought that the "category extensions" could add the very few Pair minigames that use a Score, while enabling multiplayer. These would be:

What are your thoughts, though? I hope I've made a good case regardless

All of you have submitted records to the IL (Level Runs, Events) which happened to be in images, or videos lacking a replay, or videos showing the "Record Log". Your runs were rejected previously because the Rules state that all submissions must show Video Proof (a full Replay or the Gameplay).

Remy and I have decided that everybody can submit records without video, since we understand lots of people do not play anymore, but holded runs they were proud of, so long you follow these few requirements:

  1. You have to show that you are using a real cartridge of the game, and not a Pirate Card, in 1 single unedited video (you show your record, then you extract the cartridge and show it).

  2. Emulator is not allowed. Pirate Cards are not allowed.

  3. Your submissions cannot claim first place with this method, to prevent Action Replay. All 1st Places must submit a typical video, following the standard procedure.

This will be allowed from now on, in the way it is descripted here.

  2. No se permiten emuladores, no se permiten Tarjetas Piratas.

If you want to run against it, here's the sav file. Put it on a Pirate card and send it to your real card as a "Friend Ghost". That way you'll know if you are going faster or not before the checkpoints.

I saw that this game was kinda empty on the ILs. If you want to run Sonic, here you might find the claimed times that will give you something to struggle against

https://www.soniccenter.org/rankings/sonic_rivals/times

https://www.video-games-records.com/en/sonic-rivals-game-g383/best-time-group-g1468/index

I don't know if the Any% beats these times. But they seem worth a while either way. So I considered sharing them

Beijing DS and Vancouver DS online rankings were never recorded. These are the only 2 games which lack the WFC nowadays.

While we do know what were the number 1 records, they were clearly cheated and they cannot be trusted. that's why having a good look to the top 15 positions would give a clear insight on how good were the actual legitimate records of Beijing DS.

Anyone who has connected to the WFC should still be capable of viewing it. So long as you don't connect to the Wimmfi. Therefore, it would be appreciated if you happened to share the WFC if you still preserve your old Beijing card.

If you are curious about it, this is what we know about the records of this game: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1325QEmLXYibLpFNJ_3oEU6Dn7LDxnGhlnt1znyotYfg/edit?usp=sharing

Let it be noted, there is a runner named Super that is supposed to have achieved all of these records on Wimmfi, but it seems so flagrantly fake that we decided to not include them.

I thought it might be interesting for some of the top runners to see where they are in comparison to the online Leaderboard. So it might be worth a Forum thread

Edit: I made a more inclusive Table. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MqPLErD0u-VKjMQ5TmSQnMyKuXvNk4xgf_c8h4-qjMY/edit#gid=0

Since the comments inside the runs of the minigames are now disabled in Misc., I want to share a somewhat old comment of mine of the Waluigi minigame (some months ago):

I basically said that you can save up to 3 further seconds in there by performing a glitch. The glitch skips a green bob omb. It consists of throwing a bob omb at the Boss while it has started a "dropping bob-omb" animation.

Fail of 17 seconds (current WR is at 20 seconds):

Also, I think the minigame works like this: the Boss will drop 3 black bob ombs and then transition to a green bob omb, but every time you hit it, it will skip a bob omb in the cycle. So if you hit it before it drops a bob omb, it will skip to the next bob omb in the cycle. This is all intended behaviour.

(Black -> Black -> Black -> Green -> Repeat cycle)

What the glitch does is trick the Boss into skipping a green bob-omb while it drops a black bob-omb. It seems like the next bob-omb cycle starts even before the previous bob-omb in the queue has been summoned. So I trigger the Boss into skipping a green bob-omb in the cycle BEFORE it starts dropping a black bob-omb. As long as the dropping animation has started, even if there is no visible bob-omb in the screen, you can hit the Boss and skip a cycle. It can be seen between the seconds 17 to 20 in the video

Never mind your Cross Country TAS, it's fair that you don't want me to just copy your strats and take the record

But could you share the Alpine Skiing GS TAS? Pleeasee

Can we make this into an speedruning category?

Rules: it's golf but the air runs at 500mph every time

I don't run the game but I do like watching chaos unfold before my eyes

I was playing Ski Cross Racing and a shell hit me from a weird angle, which sent me flying very far away with a more than decent speed

I was thinking that a shell boost might send you flying just far enough to allow you to surpass the out of bounce zones in some races, mainly in SkiCrossR

Either way, getting hit at the end of a speedrun with it might provide more speed than the normal movement, and SkiCR ends with a jump from a high place.

It might be doable in Dream Snowboarding, but if I recall correctly getting hit by a shell just stops you in place all of a sudden. So probably no. It would be interesting to see what happens when a shell hits you while you are inside of a guardrail (boosting from an intersection end with 2 colliding guardrails), since your character would stop inside of it.

I don't know if it is too much to ask, since this game does not receive many runs, but I wanted to ask if the Scrat Levels and Boss Levels could receive their own category, since the Any% run skips them. I love this game and it's one of my favorites since my childhood, but the Any% run comes down to optimizing the movement through 1h straight, and knowing the puzzles takes part of the fun. That's why I recorded a bunch of runs from these specific levels with no puzzles. If the category is not added I will understand, but either way I post this video with a bunch of somewhat optimized runs for anyone who wants to have a good time watching:

Also, I added a glitch from the boss before the final boss. Warning: The video editing is half-assed
