For anybody who runs, wants to run or is otherwise interested in making Freelancer a better/faster speedrun.

I'm running on Windows 7 and didn't really change anything, not even compatibility mode.

I used to have crashes and insane high RAM usage when having the game open for a long time, but I assume that was due to NVidia ShadowPlay since it didn't happen to me since I turned it off. The same might apply to similar software — I recall there is some Xbox DVR service in W10, maybe that one is a fault?

If it's not that then I'm kinda clueless. The standard procedure would be updating drivers and so on. There is also a log file under <yourProfile>\AppData\Local\Freelancer\flspew.txt, but I doubt it to contain useful information.

Besides that I added my GPU to the flconfigdatabase.txt, but that should only get rid of the "no suitable 3D device found" message and maybe speedup the startup of the game. If you want to try that, open the file, find your GPU vendor and add your GPU's device ID to the list. You can find the ID when you "Save All Information" in DXdiag.

I hope something of these things help.

I guess I'm pretty much with KHeartz here, as well.

-> any% Beat Machinedramon in Mt. Infinity as fast as possible in any way, except Debug Menu and Cheating

-> any% 50PP Beat Machinedramon in Mt. Infinity while recruiting 50PP the "normal" way.

-> 100PP Recruit all Digimon that give PP the "normal" way.

The "normal" way would be executing the script that sets them as recruited and adds their PP. This would allow to use the Birdramon wrong warps and the buying of "arbitrary" items in shops.

What I'm really not sure about are two things: a) using glitch items/cards in order to set non-recruitment triggers (e.g. "can enter Toy Mansion") b) setting fake recruitments as long as you either recruit them properly later (-> unrecruit them with the glitch) or, in 50PP, still recruit enough Digimon the "normal" way.

Both give more theoretical routing options, but might move the categories away from their intention (especially 50PP). Right now I'm in favor of allowing a), as it gives many options, but ban b) as it makes things unnecessary complicated and will most likely not be useful anyways.

What might also be helpful is formulating the rules in a way that they can handle potential future discoveries.

Another thing that should be considered is the position of emulators. From what we've seen so far, ePSXe (1.9.0) is unable to emulate most aspects of the glitches accurately. This includes it not crashing, when console does, as well a loading certain menus faster/with less lag. Besides, the glitch needs save+quit on console, which is not allowed on emulator so far.

So, under this condition, ePSXe should probably banned from using the glitch entirely. I would suggest that we look into approving other, more accurate, emulators instead. The hit from slower loading times should be smaller than the timesave from the then viable strats ways. (And let's be honest, emulator will never hold a true WR anyways.)

It would actually hurt competition a lot to do so. There aren't that many runner to compete to begin with, but by splitting the categories you'd thin out the field even more.

I doubt console runners will run both categories unless the reset-less route is actually faster, so there would be no real difference between 2 categories and filtering the leaderboard by "emulator only". ;)

After all, emulator runs can still compete against each other. (-> someone please beat my time!)

Not a mod, so I have no power here anyways.

However, you actually don't need resets for a good any% time. My Bakemon route does all manipulations (Slots, Thunder Justice, Spinning Shot, Monochromon and Piximon) within the first 30 minutes in a consistent manner. (Just like the current 100pp route) Sub 1:22 times should be easily possible with this route, probably even better.

But ultimately the emulator will always be slower than console, due to it's poor loading speeds (ePSXe 1.7.0 still loads slower than a PS2 with FDS).

Oh and another problem is, that reset times actually vary between consoles as well.
