Extensive testing hasn't been done to determine exact time differences, but you mainly see Wiis used because they're easier to region-free and load practice codes on than GCN. If you've got your Gamecube set up I'd just stick with Gamecube for now.

Hey, I was talking with some other site staff about leaderboards that weren't set up well, and this one came into the discussion. Daravae ended up removing the current moderator as he hadn't been online for several months, and added me in his place because I expressed interest in running the game.

If you guys see this notification, it's just to let you know that the game's page isn't dead. I'll add SpaceCowboi's time linked in one of the other forum posts for now, but if he wants to remove it that's perfectly fine. I'm interested in messing around a little more with this game, so hopefully this update reinvigorates you guys. :)

This page is an overview of all known bugs on the website.

Site-wide • Twitch/FFZ emotes are not case-sensitive • User bans do not leave a trail in the audit log. • Donation-only social media links (Tumbler, Duolingo, iTunes, Spotify etc) are accessible for non-donators. By removing the {display:none;} you can fill them in and attach them to your profile. • Country flags can be set to: European Union, Valhalla and a few more by removing the {display:none;} line. • By removing the {opacity:0;} and removing the .modal class, you can see the language (beta) system and choose a language without donating. When selecting a language, this feature will automatically be enabled for your account. • After deleting an SR.C account, the same e-mail address can't be used again to sign-up with. It's also not possible to change an existing account to that e-mail address. • On /requestgame you can click "Open page to edit" button but it doesn't work, it goes to /gamerequestintro. • Question: When removing the hidden field of the language badge in 'Edit profile' you are able to edit the number. Does this do anything or is it harmless? • Usernames show multiple times in the page title for guides ("Guide by ShikenNuggetsShikenNuggets") • "Total Player" count and "Active Player" count are different values on the game's page and the game's statistics page • "All Games" page does not consider IL runs or runners, causing games like 1-2-Switch to appear completely inactive

Leaderboards • Deleting Threads via 'Delete Thread' does not leave a trail in the audit log. • Verifiers cannot self-verify unless using the 'automatically verify run' button when submitting. If trying to self* verify whilst it is in the queue, they will be hit with a permissions error. (is this still applicable?) • Verifiers can self-verify co-op runs performed by them, if the run is submitted by another user. • Dates can only be set via the Date Picker, not manually via the textbox (Editing the text in the field, and clicking away reverts it to whatever date is in the picker). • Attempting to type in a date for the date filter multiple times redirects to /ajax_leaderboard.php. • Date pickers (for date filters and run submissions) allow extremely old and even negative dates to be entered. Should probably force a minimum date, probably 1970, or maybe the game's release date. • Nicovideo embed doesn't work (Nico updated their players). • Submitting runs with multiple players will re-order the list of players. • Obsolete runs don't have the BIG "Verify"/"Reject" buttons. • Ties submitted on the same day cannot be properly sorted. • Variable filters show on Categories they don’t affect. • Using Browser “Back” from a run to leaderboard, subcategory shows last selected, loads first in list. • Overdue runs (21+ days in queue) are no longer highlighted. • Default Variables aren't shown as selected in the Filter list but show "Any". • Audit Log text breaks its boundaries. • Resources break their boundaries (example: NSMBDS) • Enabling ms, putting runs up with ms and then disabling ms will cause the site to continue to use ms. • Level categories do not show as "empty" • Misc. IL Categories still show up on the "All Levels" Page. • Subcategory selections that span multiple rows don't have a border on the left/right ends where it splits. • "All Levels" page doesn't filter runs so emulator runs are shown even if emulators are hidden by default. • "All Levels" page always shows the top time based on real-time (with loads) regardless of what the game's default timing method is. • If the first category is marked as misc, it will still be the default category when opening the page. • Uploading Split files to resources doesn’t work despite being listed as allowed file type. • Not closing a quote bbcode tag (or closing it incorrectly) will cause the post to become not editable. • Images posted in rules sections do not default/are not forced to https. Example: pkmnyellow • Request: An option to leave the 'Played On' date field blank, in cases of an unknown Played On date. • Verifiers are able to see the 'Edit game' button, but it gives an empty page. • Clicking "reject" on a run and then hitting "Cancel" instead of filling in a reason takes you to an error page. • This game has a broken icon, which should not be possible. • Trophy icons are not aligned (also applies to user profiles). • If 000ms is explicitly filled in the real-time column, the IGT ms shows as 0 on the leaderboard regardless of what's actually entered. • Runs can be submitted with invalid splits.io IDs. • World Record Progression does not display for certain levels (many examples with Cruisn World) • Clicking on a Level run in the World Record Progression always redirects to a full-game run

Notifications • When a leaderboard has a non-obsoleting variable, users with multiple non-obsolete runs may receive incorrect "your time has been beaten" notifications in certain situations. • Games that use milliseconds show milliseconds in the "your run has been beaten by" part of a notification, even if neither of the runs have milliseconds listed and the difference is 000ms.

Game Requests • Pending game requests remain in the queue when a user's account is deleted.

Marathons • Verifiers do not show in the mod list for marathons.

Message system • Bottom margin is different in some conversations. • The Unread messages as preview below the username in the conversations tab are sometimes not showing up. • You can send messages to yourself, and they stack individually in the message list • Image embed very awkwardly into messages that also have text. Example.

• Implement e-mail notifications • Create a new "Send" button • Press "Enter" to send a message • Implement auto-scroll to top of unread messages • Implement Twitch emotes / emoji's. • Split messages up by group - date etc.

API • Staff Test leaderboard page is visible in the APIRuns with load-removed time and no real-time do not list times correctlyGuest account URIs are not encodedRequests with invalid filter parameters return unfiltered resultsMarathons are accessible through the Game endpointPOSTing a run via API for another user returns 500 Internal Server ErrorCORS header not always/never returnedRuns API order by verified date missing most recent runs for certain users500 error when embedding game.variables

The .gci file used for the practice codes isn't actually a set of TTYD save files. It just sits on the memory card and is loaded up when the included .gct file is present in the codes folder. It's perfectly okay to keep the practice code .gci on your memory card during runs if you're loading the game straight from the Wii without homebrew. It won't interfere with you saving the game like normal.

We currently have no plans to create a category extensions board for this game, mainly due to extremely low rate of follow-through by people who suggest additional categories. Feel free to make a Google doc if you want to track times for stuff like this. It's just hard to warrant a leaderboard for categories that only one or two people will ever play.

There was a community discussion some time ago about potentially adding ILs for individual chapters, but it was decided against. The problem with adding a prologue IL is it doesn't really add any meaningful option to the leaderboard. Every run does prologue right at the start anyway, and an optimal IL route would only eliminate some dialogue and a shop trip.

This topic has come up time and time again. If there's seriously a demand for a place to submit meme categories, anyone interested is welcome to create a google doc to organize leaderboards. This was done in the past, and the doc had 2 total speedruns after half a year, so the only conclusion I could draw is that the demand simply did not exist.

Over at the TTYD boards, we have a forum post that's kept up to date with copies of the game that go on sale, making it an easy place for potential runners to find discs that might be difficult to obtain in their region. To accomplish this, multiple game mods are responsible for updating the post periodically. Sometime between 10/10/17 and today, the ability for moderators to edit other moderators' forum posts was taken away, which seems like a silly feature to remove sitewide.

Hey, the box art for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door was somehow updated, and after discussion, I've determined that none of the game mods did this. We were wondering if it could be reverted, because none of us can change it back.

Thanks!

Edit: Someone changed it back. It just took a while for anyone to see it.

The 100% category is basically getting a full reroute for the Japanese version. I wouldn't consider learning English 100% a waste of time, though. In fact, it's probably more of a head start. The transition shouldn't be too difficult after you learn some of the JP exclusive tricks.

(Also, the current 100% route's kind of unoptimal, even for English. Still doesn't mean using it's a bad thing.)

We can't link them on the forums because of previous events, but they're in my twitch info if you don't want to join the discord to get them.

Edit: After discussion it'll be up on the resources page sometime soon.

To put it shortly, USB loader and other similar means of launching TTYD are banned because they aren't official releases of the game. Not only that, but they offer a huge advantage on the grounds of unofficial hardware, which is why they won't be allowed for runs submitted to this leaderboard.

Individual chapters wouldn't really work well for this game. If you look at other games on the site, the only ones with successful IL tables are the ones with a strict level-based system. Having recorded ILs here would be pretty similar to the tables on the OoT and MM leaderboards: loosely based and essentially inactive, to put it shortly.

That's not to say you can't time and improve your own individual chapter times. It just wouldn't work well as a leaderboard in this game.

You'd end up with around 6:30 for glitchless.

This actually isn't in the doc.

You'll get better at the main categories by playing the main categories, not miscellaneous ones. Every single time on this leaderboard is certainly beatable if someone puts in the hard work. It's like that for every game.

The fact of the matter is that we're probably not going to be adding any more categories to the leaderboard unless some new skips get found. Right now, we have Any% Japanese, Any% English/PAL, and 100% categories (All Stars will probably be a new addition if we find a way to skip more chapters, similar to Paper Mario 64's All Cards.) You need to remember that even if a category doesn't exist on the leaderboard, you're still welcome to run it. Just be at peace with the fact that it will not be added to the speedrun.com leaderboards. All Badges was removed earlier this week and I'll still be running that, even though it is no longer on the leaderboards. We can't tell you how to play video games, and we're not, but what we can do is determine what categories are leaderboard-worthy. Because of this, we're going to be sticking to the four categories mentioned above.

Zephiles and I will try to keep this thread updated with links to Ebay auctions for Japanese TTYD. These games usually go for around $20-$30 including shipping. Anything higher than that isn't worth it.

Ebay copies normally come up every now and then. If you're desperate, Amazon has used copies in stock starting at around $30-$40 (you normally won't get a picture before you order though).

As of now there are plenty of English runners on the any% board. We plan to split the categories if a new skip is found in palace of shadows. This would further separate English and Japanese as the latter would be able to skip four entire chapters due to teleporter room early. For the moment, you can still post times to the any% board no matter which release of the game you're playing. You need to understand, however, that while the fastest times are going to be set using the Japanese version, English is capable of being brought down to a 5:35:xx or lower.
