@Laxxus it's nice to have one because it can help keep track of the older fastest runs to see how the TAS progressed, or you could see TAS strats people half-hazardly tried before but didn't optimize, making their specific run slower but the overall run faster. As for the site itself looking like / being trash, that's its own discussionw hich I know nothing about.
@Tutterey are you just doing a little bit of trolling rn? hard to tell over text if you're being serious or not.
@VyPr the reason the audio rule exists is that audio queues stop splicing (which CAN still be done w/ the use of cheats in mobile games and others with built in timers, and affects all games, and has been shown to have been done on even the smallest scale games). Also generally audio is not that hard to record if you already have video, so it barely affects accessibility (I believe there's some pretty simple ways to get android audio to record, and I know for a fact you can easily do it on iOS nowadays, and OBS + capture cards works on everything else). Also for @Oreo321 the boards that have things like:
- No modifying the games
- No cheating
- No tool assisted speedruns are there for a reason generally. People try to submit TASes as runs even WITH those rules in place, generally they're put there because a mod on the board had to experience something like that in the past. Also for no modifying the games, that is also often very important as there's a lot of games with mods that are OK to use such as optifine for minecraft or mastercomfig for tf2 that are generally seen as mods that just increase FPS, but can often times can greatly affect speedrunning specifically, so banning any external mods except those listed is often 100% necessary to specify. As for the 'no cheating' rule, I agree but I think that's just so mods can temporarily or permanently ban people from those boards if they're found to be cheating without any need for argument (as it is clearly stated in the rules).
For @skunk_hahahahahaha The reason BFBB has those rules is likely to minimize cheating. Allowing HDD and Disc, make the game much more accessible, if you care that much about the load times and placing high then you can look to swap from disc to HDD, but allowing both lets more people play. For requiring video and audio proof, that just makes sense to stop cheaters and really isn't that hard when literally everyone has a phone they could just prop up in the corner or something while they play, and even allowing runs without either is HUGE for accessibility as that means people can just do it on their own and not need to even record anything (which is normally the biggest hurdle). They even allow emulator runs, which is absolutely insane for those looking to run the game that don't have an easy means of recording (as recording an emulator is always 100% easier than a console). As for the capture card threshold for non-emulated runs, that's beyond me, I can't imagine any reason why a video recording of your screen wouldn't be accepted while capture cards are (I CAN think of reasons for the other way around despite personally loving capture cards), however nowadays capture cards aren't that expensive (the one I'd use for those consoles costs around $40-50), and if it's a big issue for you most computers can emulate GCN or Wii games nowadays. Overall, I'd say the capture card requirement is very weird, but most of the other rules you listed just now make the game far more accessible.
I like the final 2DSXL one. Blue and black w/ a great feeling to it. I own one, I love it.
Does anyone know if it’s possible to download speedrun leaderboards to an Excel spreadsheet? I’m trying to run some very basic data analysis on some of the more popular runs and I don’t want to have to manually put in hundreds or thousands of times
@Leo_Salvatore_7 just because a question seems dumb to you doesn't mean you shouldn't answer it at all, that seems irresponsible as a game moderator imo, you didn't even give this type of explanation to the other guy. As for the run, @Pear speaks some very basic truths, you actually have to resubmit it when it does have a video, it's not up to mods to check rejected runs to see if they're no longer worth rejecting.
@Tutterey wym by new theme? Is the default change or someting? I just use a custom one I think.
This series has more than 1 game, the series mod simply failed to add more than that one game:
with all the new changes to seemingly everything else on the site, it'd be dope if they could finally make these changes.
also for someone seemingly so mad that people are taking time to do things, you sure had a lack of responding to people on the game forums for questions they asked upwards of 6 months ago while you were mod.
@Leo_Salvatore_7 do you have that run submitted now? or are you just leaving it as rejected, you need to resubmit it for the mod to see (and then he gets the usual 2 week window to verify it)
@Leo_Salvatore_7 submitting no video, then adding it and acting like the mods are in the wrong for denying it is a bit fucked up.
Also when you say
I'm not really sure what you're complaining about, your run is clearly there. You both have WRs for different versions of the game. As for why those are variables and not sub-categories, it's very weird, but either way you both share the WR as your times are identical.
As for
I'm really not sure what you're trying to say. Starsmiley has openly stated that they tried to resolve this in DMs and that there's reasons for removing you as a mod that they're trying not to state publicly, most likely in order to stop people from harassing you, and considering how you're acting on these forums and just actively trying to deceive people, I feel like they were probably justified in doing so.
Edit: for future reads in case he deletes/edits posts, this was his original post:
I see no issues bumping old threads if something relevant is being asked/added.
Doubt this will reach OP, but you need to stop thinking of everyone online as real people. Most toxic stuff is said either just as trolling or someone lashing out about their own issues. Not exactly sure what people are saying you did on here w/ violent threats and whatnot, but that's not important. You're definitely taking things people send in 2 seconds on the toilet a bit too seriously, and the only reason they keep going after you is likely because of how openly you just respond to literally anything sent your way. All the things in your personal life also going south (being in debt, parents, etc.) is really sucky, but everyone hits down points in their life, you'll be able to recover. I think you just need to spend some time off the internet, or doing things like the people who are going after you are doing and just stay on the internet anonymously. The experience you've been having is extremely isolated from most of the speedrunning community, so I'm not sure why you say things like 'speedrunning is dead', but it might just feel that way to you based on the harassment you've been receiving. I don't have all the context here, so I can't give you any specific advice for anything, but I hope your situation gets better and I'm sure that if you work hard at improving it you can do great things.
@Act7 how did what not find out what happens? it's currently being found out.
