If you're on a gamepad doing the fast menus is as simple as inputting commands on a fighting game. You generally use quarter circle motions with your thumb between the left and right d-pad inputs. You're going to be descending down the menu majority of the time so you won't have to program your brain to learn the upward motions since those are rarely ever used.
Slot 4: Down + Right at the same time Slot 5: Slide thumb from right > down Slot 6: Slide thumb from down > right Slot 7: Do the slot 5 motion, but add an extra down input before or after it. Slot 8: Can be done a few ways, but the easiest and fastest way IMO is sliding your thumb from right > down > right. Essentially Slot 5 and 6 motion done together.
Practice it a bunch and you'll get the feel for it. The RE2 menus can get a little finicky from thumb slide motions or any fast inputs, but they work great to your advantage. Unfortunately, RE2 menu tricks don't translate too well to the Gamecube version. You have to use BOTH d-pad and analog to pull that off correctly. I made a video showcasing it although it's a little hard to see with the controller being completely black lol. This is if you're ever on the Gamecube version or playing REmake.
Welcome to the RE2 boards! We look forward to seeing your progress on here and hope you enjoy speedrunning this amazing game. I made tutorial videos for Leon A and Claire A if you're interested in speedrunning those scenarios. I'm planning on making tutorials for the B scenarios when I find the time, but feel free to ask any of us questions pertaining to the scenarios or anything about the mechanics for RE2!

Also, another thing to note there's a chance of the game crashing on PS4 when you grab the GL before meeting Richard. It doesn't happen too often, but it can happen. Several runners can confirm it :(
PS3 is definitely slower especially when you start up a new game. The first cutscene with the mansion doors opening takes forever to begin lol.
If you're asking about the random threads being started by a certain user, it's just personal drama that's being drawn to the public eye for no reason other than to gain attention and start problems.
@Spartanfinix117 You need to have an autosplitter script assigned before you can use this. Steven has a tutorial on how to set it up so grab the scripts from the resources page of RE2 from here first. https://www.speedrun.com/re2/resources (it's BIO2 PC All Scenarios (All Doors Splits)).
@stealthmarauder Do you plan on running the PC versions?
This tutorial is really good for LiveSplit.
This one covers how to setup autosplitters, but these only work if you're playing the PC versions of games since the scripts read in-game memory.
I would recommend Jill any% or NG+ as well. They're both very accessible and straightforward categories for learning this game.
The other categories exist, because there are some people who actually play them and they're apart of the main game. Only reason why they're not as active is due to the learning curve and difficulty compared to the A scenarios.
RE1 - Jill any/100% RE2 - All scenarios except HANK Mode and Ex Battle RE3 - Any%
I've had this happen to me before after playing the game for a long period of time. Happened during an Extreme Battle mode run and the game eventually crashed after passing a few rooms.
You can actually do all the dodges on the US version. There's some slight variations in the areas with extra enemies, but for the most part everything can be done in the same relative manner. Yolo horde might have a higher chance of fail since the zombies shuffle quicker on US, but it's been done.
EDIT: Oh, I just realized Hard/Nightmare was brought up. Yeah, pretty much what FurryWulfz said. Yolo horde is impossible on that difficulty.
Yeah this dodge is not worth it at all. I only did it since I was desperate to catch up lol. It only saves like 0.3-0.7 seconds at best.
I am not removing Derps' run due to an existing in-game function and it was an accident anyway. It was an "accident".
Please take the baseless assumptions elsewhere. At the rate you think you might as well ban stair skating and ban nearly the whole board for being too fast on stairs.
Sorry, but RawDerps' stair skating ability has been proven to be 100% legit and not modified.. He's posted a video in the past showcasing his technique when questioned about the legitimacy of his runs.
This was posted on his previous channel.
I would stick to the explosive rounds personally. They're easier to hit Birkin with due to the splash damage and radius it covers. You don't actually have to hit the grenades directly on him to get full damage per shot. If you notice in the first video I keep my aim in the center and never drop to readjust when he's jumping back and forth. You also have more explosives to waste in case you miss whereas using the flame round route allows less room for error.
Shooting Birkin from the glitch spot is a bit difficult with Claire since you have to aim at an angle for the grenades to hit him.
explosives only
with flame rounds
Dara's variation with flame rounds
For the elevator glitch, you just have to be holding the aim key after you hit yes. To reload you need have an empty magazine for it to work, so you press the action button while you're aiming.
Would recommend reading this if you're having trouble with the last Birkin fight. https://www.speedrun.com/re2/guide/ufivh
Yeah, that foot is so powerful rofl. As long as you're not doing that in your quick croc attempts, you'll be fine. Last thing you need is to successfully get it then end up getting yourself killed trying to be fancy. :D
