@tcd11 I occasionally check for new games through this: https://www.speedrun.com/api/v1/games?orderby=created&direction=desc&_bulk=yes&max=50
Would be nice to have something proper.
It's pretty easy, actually, just need the right things.
The main item you need is a capturing device. You can get a standard definition one pretty cheap. I use this one -- https://www.amazon.com/Dazzle-DVD-Recorder-VHS-Converter/dp/B00EAS14KI -- You don't have to use the bloatware they provide you with; once you have the drivers installed Amarec does a good job at displaying the game.
Optionally, you can get some composite splitters so you can play on the TV and record at the same time. You CAN play through Amarec but there's some display lag that you may notice if you're used to using a CRT TV. I bought these to split my signal: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001VJ465O/ -- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H4L6UO8/
Those'll work just fine if you're using composite cables to play. If you're using component or HDMI you'll need something else to capture/split it.
Awesome! If you have a video, I can make the game for it.
It actually used to be on here, but since it didn't have any runs for so long the admins removed it. There were two threads with interest.but not much else.
If you or someone else has any kind of run in it can get added and stay around this time.
IIRC a lot of the runners rebind their keys, and it's an option in the game settings anyway so it'd be dumb to not allow it.
No, unfortunately. It's whenever kirkq can get around to approving them, which is usually weekly.
If I wanted to know how long on average his 'breaks' are, I'd have to know who is creating the game since series mods can create their own games. The API doesn't provide that info.
Here you go
I crunched how long it takes for a run to be approved.
25% of runs get approved within 1 hour 50% of runs get approved within 5 hours 80% of runs get approved within 24 hours 88% of runs get approved within 3 days 92% of runs get approved within 1 week (at this point you should try contacting the mod(s)) 95% of runs get approved within 3 weeks (if at this point you haven't had any response, ask to moderate the game yourself)
This excluded anything approved in under 5 seconds, which were mostly self-approved runs.
Generals and Zero Hour has auto-generated saves for the start of a mission. There's something I discovered sometime ago in Red Alert 2: The auto-generated saves never change the RNG value or difficulty, only restarting the mission does.
I was wondering if Generals and Zero Hour may suffer from the same issue. If so, it might be better to start ILs from restarting the mission rather than using the provided save files. Needs to be looked into.
Once you have a run of a game, then you can submit a request for one. The admins don't like having games with no runs.
I 'tried' to help XYX on this not too long ago: /Speedrunning/thread/qknds
Are there any glitches in the JP version that's not present in the US one? The top three times use that version, but it may just be a coincidence.
Renegade X is a fan game derivative of Command & Conquer: Renegade. It's not a modification as it's built from the ground up.
lol Stinger, the categories and levels are the other way around.
Made a table with all the Platformer leaderboards on the site (that have a platformer tag) -- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1aIP8H4FiW-tIz0BSdNkqB2UbMcguOQL0L-jQcthexLU/edit?usp=sharing
It excludes anything that has 2D in the genre. It's not all encompassing but does give a large list.
Actually, I made one sometime ago: https://discord.gg/dy3GRjw
I even had a thread about it here for it. I ended up deleting the thread because no one else expressed internet and I wasn't going to be able to even be on it. I'd like to try again when I'm finally out.
It's not very significant, but since the site is keeping track of run views, could the API provide that information for runs? I can use it a some measure of popularity for things besides just game.
There's no milliseconds on those runs, so that's not the reason. My best guess is because of date differences and not using standard time over gametime.
