Nice find. But it's difficult, even more so because it can hit the finish line boundary so the game believes you've gone backwards over the line. It also has problems for orbs. If you do it for all 3 laps, you'll need to stop at the group of 5 at least once to get an extra orb. :/
"Take your retardation elsewhere." There you go again with the pointless insults. Bye battleonfan1, I'll talk when you stop being childish.
I'm bringing up an example of someone unfit to take over as moderator - who insults the current moderator just because he won't add you as moderator (which he didn't because you wouldn't stop forcing your opinion down his throat, and also wouldn't stop asking for moderator, and now won't due to your idiotic behaviour), and then says he deserves to die. Quite mentally unfit for anything, let alone moderating a leaderboard for a children's video game. Also damages your credibility if you've been proven to act childish like this, so your points for anything about the leaderboards could be thrown out the window.
Depends on what the community of the game you want to learn has decided. But I'd recommend using emulator when trying to learn your game, because savestates can make it easier (especially when learning certain tricks).
Seems like the option to add a new resource to a table is hidden unless there's a resource already on that table. Example: http://www.speedrun.com/hp2pc/resources The bottom one is hidden. That's something to report to http://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/onfz6/14
HP1 was originally all cards and all house points in 100% Trifecta runs, but now the 100% definition has been agreed with, which is all cards, all house points, and (oddly imo but I'm not a PC runner) all potion ingredients.
Update (should have been done a while ago, sorry): LiveSplit no longer needs this. You just have to select Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (PC) as the game in Edit Splits... and a prompt will come up to activate the loadless component. (If it doesn't work, try downloading LiveSplit again; this has worked before).
I'm thinking of just having Tournament ILs for now, since having so many different categories (with Bash 'N' Dash and Mayhem needing subcategories for the different arenas) will seem a bit much for a two-man community. Let me know your thoughts.
Holy heck, I thought I had followed the game so I would've seen this, sorry about that. :/ Made you series mod, and in response to your other thread, I've made an All Gauntlets category.
I think we'll have to stick with RTA for now. Trying to make IGT work would make it a complicated mess. IGT could only work if every run was deathless and had no saving and quitting, plus, changing to RTA if a run needs to restart a checkpoint would make the IGT irrelevant and so RTA would become the default leaderboard timing, meaning IGT isn't worth it. IGT won't become the main timing method. We could, however, have it on but have RTA default, and a videoless run could take a picture of the IGT, and submit it with their RTA splits as double-proof. Even if the IGT is segmented by saving and quitting, the RTA will be correct, but the IGT picture will be extra proof that a legitimate run has been done. This is probably the best we can do.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (PS1)
I'm sorry for your loss :/ What an absolute lad you are for doing what you want to do for a cause close to you.
I agree with switching to IGT, and yes, ePSXe 2.0 can be allowed, so your real PB can go back.
For games, like SM64, which are in series, the series page has an option right at the bottom of the sidebar called 'Game type'. If you click on the 'not' button, it'll change to 'has' and shows any ROM hacks and other game types (fangames, flash games, betas) in the series. It's more indirect than finding each ROM hack on the right game page, but I guess it got moved around in the large update recently.
If we switch to IGT, RTA will still show up still, and current RTA times will be put down as the IGT times. It is a bit unfair for old runners, but they can come back and get new PBs if they want to; if not, RTA will still roughly show their skill level. Plus, you're the only runner with a run with Early 4-Eyes and with known IGT, so IGT will be implemented at a good time, because all times before are 'obsolete' in their route and competition only really happens at your level which will have IGT. I hope you see what I'm saying here.
Yes, I remember that, in HP2PS1 (it should be the same result), for 100% my PAL PB is over 20 minutes slower RTA than my NTSC PB, however, in-game time is actually 30 seconds faster, and I know the PAL PB was a better run, so PAL's timer doesn't have an advantage. I guess I never got round to switching to IGT :S
Good point. Although that would mean having to sit through the credits every time (as the only savepoint after the final boss is at the Wizard card book iirc), it would be a universal timer and could even let the NTSC-U and PAL runners into main competition. The only other thing would be to ban S&Q so no segmenting is done; I'm sure the game would count death time into game time but we'll have to check.
