The mods of this game should request that change in the relevant thread (you can't request it yourself in their name). You can talk to the mods about it.

@Californ1a Interesting bug. When you name a category "0%" (or just "0"), the value for that option in the categories list is 0, which is also usually the default value in drop-down lists, in terms of programming. There is a code somewhere that automatically chooses this value, because both the "0%" category and the real category are selected when you edit the run. You can bypass this bug by naming the category "zero%" or something like that.

Took me a while to find myself in the users page, but I know the answer now based on this number and my profile data.

Right now I have a total of 45 categories played; and on my profile you can see that I have:

  • Full-game runs in 35 "normal" categories
  • Full-game runs in 8 subcategories, which belong to 4 main categories in total
  • IL runs in 6 per-level categories

Based on that, it seems that only main categories are counted, either for full game categories or IL categories. If you have multiple runs in the same category but different sub-categories, (Gimli voice) it still only counts as one.

Welcome to the site!

Do you have any idea about which types of games you want to play; where to play them (web, PC, consoles); and the range for how long you want your runs to be? If so, please write them so you can have better suggestions, otherwise this thread will be filled with a bunch of random suggestions and you won't do anything with it.

In the meantime, if you by any chance enjoy or want to try running 2d side-scrolling platformer games, here is a post with lots of my suggestions (web games only): https://www.speedrun.com/post/60yng

Just note that depends on the game, a speedrun for fastest game over might be very simple and short; so that nobody will take it seriously. So don't expect every mod to agree to add such a category. You can still speedrun whatever you want, whether if a category exists or not.

In regular times the requests queue can take up to 1-2 weeks, but those are not regular times. In the last months there is a surge in new runner on the site, and so also a spike in game requests, so they can take longer - Just be patient. Note that in the meantime, nothing prevents you from running the game just because it's not on the site.

You can't upload your videos to speedrun.com site directly. You need to upload them to a video hosting site (YouTube and Twitch are the most popular), and then post the link to the video when submitting your runs.

Welcome to the site. I assume you ask about Minecraft? game specific questions you should ask in the game forums, in this case: https://www.speedrun.com/mc/forum. There are also lots of guides you can read there, which might answer your questions.

I don't know anything about this game and its relation to Minecraft, but according to the site rules, games leaderboards must be set within 14 days from the date they were added to the site.

The game was added in 2020-09-01, so the moderators still have time to set up things. If they don't, the game will be automatically deleted anyway.

Mah non-SRC leaderboards. Also I played for years on Kongregate so it feels weird to move to somewhere else.

No relation to new or exist runs. You probably need to clear the browser cache, try refreshing the page with Ctrl+F5.

Ooh, something I can help with! I will just go and assume that you meant "2d side-scrolling platformers", because that is basically almost all games I'm running.

Now, what you "want to speedrun" varies on the subgenre of games you like to play, and the expected time range for the runs. I don't know anything about your preferences, so I will write a list with a few examples, and you can tell us your preferences for better suggestions. I will focus on web games, but you can find countless similar examples for PC and consoles.

  • Short puzzle/action games - games with a lot of very short levels, with one special concept used across the game; or just one but very short level. A casual playthrough might take some time for the player to figure what to do; but when speedrunning, the puzzle aspect is thrown away and it's pure action. Every level can take a few seconds at most. There also might be frame perfect techniques, but it's really depends on the game itself. Runs in those games usually take 2-5 minutes. For example, one of the popular games is Choppy Orc. Other examples: Overlords New Mansion, Doodle Alive, Hat Wizard, A Platformer for Ants.

  • Longer puzzle/action platformers - Same thing, but runs take 10 minutes or more. They have much more short levels, or few but long levels (which can sometimes take minutes to complete). Running games like that requires a bit different mindset than the short ones. Examples: BLYM, Continuity, Skullface.

  • Metroidvania/adventure platformers - Games with usually one giant map. You gradually gain access to more areas and upgrades as you progress. You may or may not fight enemies and bosses in the process. Examples: Robot Wants series, Arzea, Snailiad, K.O.L.M, Endeavor, Amidst the Sky, Temple of the Four Serpents.

  • Action precision platformers - Where you usually have lot of enemies, spikes and hazards. You don't have the ability to fight, and need to dodge everything while proceeding through the levels. Runs in those games are usually heavily input-based, though. Examples: Meat Boy, Mr. Bree, Exit Path, Give Up, Vex, Jumphobia, Moneyseize.

  • Shooting arenas - Games with much heavier focus on shooting, and not on the platforming. You need to shoot and kill enemies in order to progress. Still 2d side-scrolling games, though. Examples: Raze 2, Strike Force Heroes.

I might have missed a few subgenres along the way.

Try running both the game and Livesplit as administrator, that is the common suggestion for this issue.

Are you sure it disappears? for me it scrolls down a bit to the post itself, the thread options bar is still at the top.
