Interesting. By all means, use the full-screen if it works better for ya. I'm not going to reject a time if it has something like a screen tear in it. As long as the game operates correctly, it's all good.

Also, nice level 4 run there.

I record the windowed version of the game. I imagine the the resolution for the game is just probably not the same as it use to be what with these wide screen monitors and higher resolutions (I suspect if you went full-screen, any difference in aspect ratio is going to cause problems).

It terms of single levels, I'm not sure it would make a difference because IGT. If you were playing more than one level, than yes, cycle speed will affect the loading times (specifically the pre- and after-game screens fade in quicker and fade out quicker).

However, that has a max speed as well. I set mine between 12000-15000. That pretty much maxes out the loading speed, but isn't too fast that it starts to glitch (the first thing that will mess up is the music).

Lol, I didn't notice this:

"he also used to graphics option for High-Performance PC's, which makes the fade-out happen more slowly"

I just always chose it just cause. I did notice though that when you ESC, it stop the timers, and goes to fade out, but you still have that small amount of time during the fade out to get enough lemmings to meet the victory condition.

So, I've went ahead for now, and eliminated the subcategories for this specific issue.

The reason mostly being that's there is no great way on the back end of the leader boards without it mostly showing up on all sorts of runs it wouldn't really be relevant for.

I do have a couple possible ideas that would make it better (but not perfect), but I should be able to do without needing to per-determine what the runs are.

If demand for there to be a category free of using the ESC button, I will look into it again.

Gotcha, then yea, I don't see any issue with it. Heck, I've never noticed the problem before, so I'm wondering if I already have it.

Not sure what they are; are they only relevant to the Windows 95 version of the game?

I mean, if they literally do nothing but change the music. I don't really see why that would be a problem.

thread: Lemmings

I'll update the rules this evening. As of now, whether an individual uses ESC or not just needs to be marked in either run; The runs aren't separated, but I left that as an option going forward in case there is an increase of runs from people.

For individual levels, igt takes precedent. For level groupings and stuff, I'm thinking RTA is probably more important (Since I imagine adding up 30+ igt's all the time would be problematic. Not really 100% certain yet, though. In any case, don't mind the use of the fast-forward option.

Finished levels, setting up full game runs for the 112 original levels. Will work on the Oh No! More Lemmings soon.

Not sure about web application, but I'm going to go with no for now, because it looks like a custom porting, and I'm unsure how many unlicensed forms of the game like this exist (and would be difficult to keep up with for now).

You can definitely do the Windows/PC version. You may have noticed... I haven't added those levels. If you are interesting in the running the game though I can spend some time to add time.

As an additional note, this version came much later and included "Oh No! More Lemmings" Levels attached. However, they had to make room for some of the levels by eliminating a few of the originals to fit it all.

So the first 114 Levels for the Windows version will be listed on the Lemmings page, and the latter 95 will be listed on the Oh No! More Lemmings page.

Playing the game with a DOS emulator? DOSBox?

thread: Lemmings

responded on lemmings forums,

but yea, I will have either changes rules to allow usage of ESC tonight, or create the subcategories. If you have a run you'd like to submit, feel free to do so, I can make any changes to the run this evening to reflect whatever gets set up.

Theoretically, the fastest possible times in completing the game would be by losing, then by winning and essentially losing Fast Money, then by winning Fast Money.

I agree though, it's pretty superfluous, and wouldn't mind seeing them go. I'd hate to take down sometimes time though, since there are a couple runners who put in more than zero effort into it. But given they don't really care, I wouldn't mind seeing all four games of the series up so far (and future games) just stick to Fast Money Win and $20,000 (or whatever the dollar amount happens to be).

Generally, specifications for emulators are usually in the rules for any given game.

Some are known to be inaccurate emulations, from speedrunslive.com:

SNES - ZSNES, snes9x 1.4x N64 - Project64 2.x GB/GBC - VBA, VBA-M GBA - VBA-M

Yes, one can do it. No, it's not a bad idea. Sure, obviously the best world records on the site come from grinding the same game thousands of times. Just do whatever you want.

No wonder dead. Oh well, next game. Later on.

thread: WWF No Mercy

Any way we can unban emulators or create a subcat? I just did a couple runs, but can't submit them. =[

I actually was playing this last night (presuming you mean for N64), in which case, I will likely run at it some point because it's a really great wrestling game. EDIT: Nvm, emulators banned, no point.
