Did a bit more playing, found out that if you don't pick up the drops from enemies and die, then you get absolutely no points and there's no sound whatsoever on the bonus points screen.

I don't particularly mind, when I was playing last night I felt I had found something big, but after a while I realized that maybe there's no time save at all, the countdown screen hangs around for a while even with no score, plus listening to the jingle again and chasing enemies, I don't think is of any benefit, and I'm not the kind to go do some frame counting to confirm.

But, if there's any place where it could save time (if it actually does) is the last stage. When you die in Stage 3, the red guy chases directly after you by dropping down once you respawn, and you can easily wait and kill him, and like I said, you get no time bonus, but, it still makes a short sound as if it was counting down the seconds (that you could use as a cue to stop the timer).

If you ask me though, I'd suggest changing the end time to a clear visual cue, not a sound cue, if you have a timer bonus, you can easily see when the time reaches zero, but if you die you'd have to use the sound, and if you ever allow for milliseconds and dying happens to be a good strat, it's gonna be really annoying to get the exact time. So either when the points bonus screen first appears or when it fades to black, or when the "Scene 4/19" screen appears, whichever you prefer.

I've noticed that if you die you don't get the timer points after beating the stage. I'm not sure if this actually saves time considering you have to hear the stage jingle again and chase the enemies, but most importantly, I'd like to know if it's allowed to die and if so, how would the end time be determined if this happens on the last stage of the run.

Just a heads up that Nyakkusu is anyax_mu, the WR holder, so that 3rd place run should be obsoleted.

I don't know if you've read this: https://strategywiki.org/wiki/Binary_Land but it explains how the stages work: I'll quote:

"Each regular stages is composed of 2 half-stages; one for the left part of the stage, one for the right part. There are only 16 different half-stages. The 100 regulars stages are generated using different combinations of each half stage. The placement of the hidden tile stays consistent across each combination of stages. The images below show you the position of the hidden tile in each 16 stage cycle"

So knowing that, while the only true loop would be after Round 99, beating Round 16 would be the closest thing to it. Maybe we should ditch 10 Rounds and make it 16 Rounds.

PS: Round 17 sucks

To the mod that verified my run. The NTSC NES/Famicom framerate is NOT 60, It's 60,09881.... generally rounded up to 60,1 (hence why the emulator tends to show than number as the FPS), but definitely not 60. If you want more sources, check the following sites:

First off, I have to give you props, it's not the most fun thing to be grinding runs until getting the correct enemy spawns, and then being able to actually complete the run successfully with a previous record that wasn't easy to beat.

Even then, I have to ask you, is it possible you may have used Turbo for your run? Don't take this as an attack or anything, but I am curious to know.

Hi, can I request be made mod for Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego for Genesis?. I contacted the previous mod since he had been away for 6 months from the site, he approved my run and deleted his account. The game has no mods right now.

I don't think it's 100% wrong to have mods verifying themselves when there are video submissions. If there's something wrong with the runs, it's out there for anyone to find. If a game has multiple mods, chances are one of them will catch the fake run, if there's only one mod or mods are protecting each other, there are always series mods, content mods or above to solve those problems. Of course, if a mod is caught cheating or helping cheaters, then their punishment has to be more severe than a regular runner's.
