if retro mode is gone does that mean the boards will get archived
quite straightforward, just beat yoshi's house by doing a glitched exit; presumably just getting a magic orb in your reserve and using it.
idk if this is known but if you complete the quest in bamboo forest to cross the bridge with the frog guy and go to the part that's blocked off, then delete your save in another tab/window, the bridge gets broken again and you clip out of bounds
so ye
does that have a use?
ok so i found a new strat in the boss that's around 1-2 seconds faster, except it was in a rip-off of the game. i don't currently have a device to play the proper flash version, so i'm asking anyone to replicate it:
use the normal strat for the first hit, but after he jumps again, hit him right after he lands to make him vulnerable (this is what i'm skeptical about) and find a safe area in the crushers or just near him. after he jumps again, he should immediately be vulnerable, so hit him and try stalling your death (or just don't die).
so ye umm idk what else to say
the hunt update made the fast paper grab MUCH easier, also making it so you don't have to crouch again and turn around and all that, literally just grab it
so why is there no seperate leaderboard for the hunt update
So I have a Chromebook now and I wanted to see if i could use it for SMB, but running Nestopia tells me that it's only supported for Windows and other stuff. Even Mesen(-S) has the same issue of not running. Does anyone know any good emulators to use?
i was practicing 2-1 with pellsson rom, got to the end, but suddenly, the spring despawned as i got close to it (not the small brick part, just the red spring) and when i landed on it, i got stuck in place and couldn't move. I could run or walk, and it'd have the speed of the moving animation, and i could turn around with its animation, but i would never move. The time would tick, so I could either wait and die or restart, and have it happen again.
if main game is separated between NTSC/NTSC(J) and PAL, then why isn't Softlock? In fact, it explicitly states that PAL is allowed, probably due to the significant strat and speed difference, but then that'd be a reason to separate them too. Also, it allows people to compete differently for different reasons and people could submit on both categories as well. So why aren't they separated, and could they be?
A-1 is the sole reason for why I can't do letter world runs, cause these flipping koopas on the stairs are an annoyance. How do you get past the stairs without getting low height, and how would you even slow down and not bop the koopa and fall?? I literally have to resort to slowly hitting the vine to despawn one of them but that's just horrible.
So basically 8-4 IL timing with -3 (9-3 if on the practice ROM with MWE). Since it is and ending to the game, it too wouldn't have framerules. Same with D-4 IL on TLL. I just don't get why they aren't added. However, one big problem is that it's already 2 frames from perfection, so leaderboards might just end up really, REALLY slow moving or just bad. Anyways, is it a good idea?
Is it possible (or is there a setup) to do Lightning 4-2 whilst replacing the 11px bump with clipping into the coin block and getting the same amount, if not more pixels from it? It seems faster, but I don't know if it could be. I tried with slowdown from coin block clip and got 4-4 (13 frames SLOWER than normal I setup), so I don't know if it is. The main reason I'm asking is because it's much easier than topclip, 11px bump is also extremely hard, it might make the trick more accessible, and it would just be cool.
With the popularity of glitches rising, from chain-grabs to wall clips, and the leader boards heavily changing with it, I feel like glitchless should be a category (or secondary category). Here are the rules:
Clips (grab clips, corner clips, that one laser clip in 27, floor clips, full wall clips) are banned.
Grab-boosts* and chains are banned.
Box boosts and box jumps are banned.
Full jumps while carrying an object or character (U, J, U, U inputs) is ALLOWED.
Juggling is ALLOWED.
Any other glitch (I think I listed all of them) is banned.
If a glitch is performed by accident (like corner clips or box boosts for example), reset the level or your run is unverifiable. (That's up for the mods to choose.)
*If the intent is to throw a character, and have them grab the other without jumping again (like the end of level 40 or the start of level 35), that should be allowed. (Also up for mods to choose.)
I'm currently working on a TAS for this on coppersalts' HTML5b TAS hack, (my first TAS I've worked on), and have only done like 5 levels. But some levels are already fully finalised and glitchless so I didn't touch them (except for level 3 because a triple frame save hasn't been added to the site yet), so it's almost a quarter of the full game done.
Anyways, does this sound good, for a category/secondary category/subcategory? (also ce board maybe? 47: everybody up, intended-any% (skipless), maybe glitchless?)
So for some reason whenever I try to make keybinds in settings, I can't do key combinations (i mainly use them for resets, and savestates. Also can you not bind start? Please can someone help me with this, and also what keybinds are good for those settings?
so I finally got 4-2 blazit (twice in the same time of attempts) but one was a bit weird. I jumped too high, bonked on the powerup block and did the clip at the bottom row instead of the middle somehow. Is this any slower or different to clipping in the middle?
for some reason I can get sockfolder easily on all-stars when i mess around for no reason, knowing i can't yet get it, but then i get it like twice more instantly, but on normal smb1 i've tried all the time and can never get it. is there any physics change to know that makes it easier?
SwitchVC btw, and B/A sprint and jump if it helps.
So clicking numbers 1-8 (not on the numpad) you can change the item you hold. 1-6 being normal kindness cards, 8 being a speaker, and 7 being a big heart which does the same thing as pressing B. However, 1-6 and 8 only work if you have at least 1 kindness card or a speaker respectively. 7, however, appears at any time, as it works like B. But, if you have a 7 card held, and click 1-6, you can get a kindness card that works without having one in the first place. So starting the run, you do 7, 6, space. This would also save time at the end because you can keep clicking 7, 6, space to get 1 card when you use all of them.
If I want to start a run on a game with both the game and LiveSplit open, I need to click on LiveSplit, start the run, then click back on the game to gain control. Can I start the timer without clicking the window, and simultaneously starting the game, without an autosplitter?
i was messing around with 26 and slowdown and got a hprc without it being grounded. this is impossible?
