More consistent Four Iron snipe. You can aim pretty much towards the same spot as usual, it's a bit harder to see the aiming reference from where I stood in the vid but you can position yourself a bit more to the right as well and it'll look the same as from the "usual" spot. You don't need to aim from a specific spot, so you can just ballpark your standing position a bit. Also it might take two shots to kill him, apparently
I added a separate "new player" variable similar to "race settings" except with language more suitable for the full-game runs.
The main idea was pretty much to be able to have no traffic and good weather (also has significant effects on the crash courses), though you'd have to back out of each race in order to set race settings, which wouldn't even be worth it except perhaps for some circuit races? Having the Panoz GTR-1 from the getgo would be a nice touch, but perhaps it's indeed not worth having as a "full-game" category.
When I removed the other difficulties I hadn't considered the effect on full-game runs, since there weren't any. While maybe not a perfect comparison, other games I moderate/have run have full-game categories locked to the hardest difficulty as well as the ILs, so at the very least there could be an "anything goes" category as well as hardcore. I'm not too keen on calling it any% so I'll add it as "all missions" and "all missions (hardcore)" I suppose.
A run was finally submitted for All Races and the city bus was used on checkpoint races to get the Panoz GTR-1. I think the timer glitch should be permitted since it doesn't affect the RTA time; actually, there isn't anything suggesting you can't in the rules, but having it clarified would be good.
I'll add the category then. On a somewhat related topic, what do you all think of removing beginner and normal difficulties? None of those runs are faster than the current hardcore records as they are uncompetitive, so I don't see why they should remain, especially with a no alerts category.
Alright, added it as a misc category for the time being and added the run. Let me know if you think it should be a main category or anything.
When you finish it, I might add it as a separate "sub-game" as was done for all of the AoE2 expansions, but I'm not opposed to adding it in some form, in any case.
I can't say that sounds like sufficient enough of a distinction to warrant its own leaderboard category, never mind if it would catch on
Actually the rules currently say to use default settings, but I guess my stance has changed since I wrote that. I'll make a variable for it to indicate whether runs use default settings or modified. For your Ignorance Is Blitz run I've set it to default anyway since memes aside I don't think anything you changed there affected the run's outcome
IMO any settings are fine, but I personally run with the default settings for each race just cause it feels more "legit" or something. Wouldn't go as far as making that the rule though. BTW, Ignorance Is Blitz on Amateur doesn't have traffic anyway, I think.
My first impression is that the files shouldn't really be messed with since that kinda messes with the integrity of game versions, and that each version with their own quirks should just be taken as they are, since that's just how it is. It may be inconvenient not to play on EE, but other speedgames go through inconveniences if it's faster without modifying game files as well.
That being said, I'm not the king of AoM or anything (hell, I don't even run it) so if more are in favor than against then sure thing
I think I'm good for the time being, but I'll keep it in mind for the future
