there is some smaller events that happen but they are organized within smaller portions of the games respective communities or by groups or runners that plan to set something up in the future. keep and eye on the forums and even also on the SDA forums as well for smaller events etc, also SRL has some people that also try and set events up as well but mostly over the web instead. <3

Also if you really wanna have something a bit more local you can attempt yourself with some proper and hardwork and planning with some connections to other interested parties to set up an event yourself with others.

I use a simple set up to capture older consoles that use AV cables; A capture card with HDMI input/output, and a AV to HDMI upscaler that supports 720 to 1080. Use the powered upscaler to grab the AV output from the desired console such as Ps1 or GC. Then use HDMI to send it to the capture card and have it pass through it back out as HDMI to TV/Display. I get no delay for recording nor for gameplay and it actually solves most of the basic AV audio issues I'v have had.

This is the AV to HDMI upscaler I use: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00AXEVM8C/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it you wish to use PS3 and need a HDMI splitter that can bypass the HDCP try this: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0089DSLMY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Capture card that I use is the AverMedia Live HD internal Card, one of the newer ones.

Hope this helps someone out with getting an idea of what is needed to get those consoles working for recording.

I would not say u lose appreciation for the game(s) you should be running if you enjoy them, but perhaps some people may get bored with it because of repetition and need to take a break from the particular game(s).

I've played the same game a few times every week even before i started running it, and I still love it just as much as before. Taking breaks from certain games that become tiring and moving to something else is likely something that works out nicely, having a second or third game to play and run is nice in that situation. I normally play and run a game or 2 allot within a month or so then take a break of up to a month or so to move on to other things, then come back another time is a great way to keep things more enjoyable for yourself.

Anyways just some more thoughts on the matter. <3

Playing the game through casually taking notes of what is important and must be done during the game is key, multiple playthroughs and trying various things is important before attempting to even build a route and then start practicing runs. You should never start with trying to do a run from a WR video without actual knowledge and understanding of the games mechanics and more advance tricks etc, that stuff comes over time and a can be added in later. I have created several routes for games I currently play doing exactly what I've said and that also had come with more then a few dozen runs and counting casually before I even began to run them.

as an added bit of info your info section on your profile tracks the total number of runs and the current personal best runs for each game you have put runs into, just so you are aware of it. so always be making new runs, the better ones will always show up over your old ones anyways. =)

nothing is stopping you for submitting a run for a game besides not actually submitting one in the first place. =p

It probably does have runs somewhere just not here possibly. Search around see if its been done and if so and you want to pick it up to run get a hold of current runners and see about asking for any notes and or routes for it. Allot of runners very much love to help out others and build competition and even work on creating more optimized routes.

Good luck with your speedrunning endeavors. <3

to capture from a PS4 use a supported capture card or device. then disable the HDCP in the PS4's system settings, without this off you cannot get an outbound signal to your capture card or device. ¤Note¤ Having HDCP turned off will prevent you from using things like youtube and netflix and playing dvds etc, so make sure to re-enable it afterwards if you plan to use those features.

Alternatively you can get your self a working and supported HDMI stripper/splitter that removes the HDCP which would allow to to ignore the HDCP setting on the PS4 by default and not have to toggle it on and off.

I need to move myself over to using live splits or at least try it in comparison to WSplit. But most times configuration comes down to personal feel and how you want to lay it out. I've seen more commonly; that splits are either Vertically for more precise and showing information on individual splits, and Horizontally for Runs that tend to have less focus on individual splits but more on the overall times for the run. Do it how its best visible for you and use hotkeys you are comfortable with and do not use normally for other things, I suggest maybe the right side keypad area as and ideal hotkey placement. <3

Pleasure to see more people becoming interested in this fun way of exploring games and having a more fun with how they are played. <3 Dedication and the passion for the games well all play is what drives for success enjoy it and always have fun. Casual running of a game to test things and better hone your understanding of mechanics and controls are always a great way to get better with it, as well as practicing sections of the game for those lengthier game runs some of us do as well. Keep in mind as well some things people can or do execute in runs can be glitches or just tricks/mechanic abuse. Keeping on top of what the games community considers as a glitch (normally game breaking) and tricks/mechanic abuse will help allot when it comes down to understanding the possible different categories of runs there possible could be.

Anyways Good Luck, and remember that the number ONE thing is to HAVE FUN PLAYING games YOU LOVE! <3

1 week is about the standard as far as I've seen them take, it could be a few days. Its not a perfect because like Lightnat0r said depending on the number or moderators for the game, so waiting a week is a minimal. I'd like to add that longer runs then a hr or so can take a bit longer to verify as well because its more that they have to check over etc.

Anyways Good Luck with your runs, and make sure to give your self the best chance when submitted runs to include video and if you can providing splits can be a great help, but you should always take note of what is required to submit a run for the game you are running. Not all games have the same rules and or requirement standards for submitting runs.

Currently Really enjoying my NieR Gestalt/Replicant Official OST album that was a gift for my birthday along with the JPN ver game. Such great music from awesome composers that worked on Shadow of the Colossus.

for what platforms are we talking because there really is not better ways for older consoles to fast load games without modded hardware.... which is in a form cheating to most people, if you talking 360 or newer then its just install the game to HDD so it loads a bit faster. if PC then get a faster and better CPU and RAM.

I would say the best consoles for speedrun select-able games would be between the PS1 and N64 because they have allot of great games allot of us enjoyed allot of, most of the games are great for running because they even to date are still finding lots of interesting glitches/tricks and better routing options for allot of the games that are and are not popular.

If you thinking of a more recent Console I have my vote of the 360 as it has the current largest library of games of this recent age. I currently own and run games from the following consoles: 360,Ps4,GC,PS1 and PC.

play games you like and if you want to play them differently then maybe look into speedrunning them. If you start speedrunning a game or when it becomes more of a hassle then fun for you, it may be a good sign to try another game or change how you are doing it.

Most important thing is always have fun with it. <3

Currently I speed run; NieR (Gestalt - NA version ) eventually the JPN version. Onechanbara Z:II Chaos, eventually the Prequel(s). and Occasionally Resident Evil Revelations 2 - Raid Mode.

Planning to eventually attempt to run other games that I love and or want to have more of an excuse to play them more. ;-P

It's been a while since the last time I posted on the game, but Everything should be set up properly now as far as being able to select a category of run to do, this includes and of the full game clears, and or level/mission clears, RTA is the preferred and required timing. I took a break from running the game for awhile to play and or learn other games, and start back into running the game more to tighten up my personal times, I have not found any newer tricks or strategies yet but I will be going over more in detail about the current ones again eventually and put up tutorial and the likes eventually. I will also at some point put together a basic routing guide for new runners that are interested in running the game as its an easy game to play tho there are a few things some people may not be aware of the first few times going through the game. If you would like to learn to run this game and I do not have any notes up yet, feel free to contact me how ever you feel and we can talk personally over VOIP etc and I can help you learn the game. This game is very fun to play and easy to learn once you understand the mechanics a bit, And I love to see more people involved with running this game. <3

I will also at some point be learning the previous title Bikini Samurai Squad at a later time once I've gone through the game enough to grasp the differences and horrible controls/mechanics of the game. =p Let's just say I have allot more appreciation for the ZII: Chaos with its stream lined controls and the bit of qwerks it has.
