If this was level based then you would be able to play the intro chapter again. Same thing goes to fighting old bosses. This isn't Devil May Cry. You don't get result at end of each chapter just overall score at the end of the game. Accessing them in save files is different than having to actually selecting them. I'd rather have it to be a feature in a game.

You need to understand and factor that this is a niche game and difficult for many people to get into because of PS2 only platform. Emulation is not perfect either and have its own issues with menus and broken graphics...etc.

Just because nobody ran it doesn't mean it makes the point of 17 levels being valid. You are not under an obligation to have a category behind it either. If you are that desperate for an arbitrary category instead of running what's already there then just do single disc runs then I will consider adding them in ILs once its done.

  • No it's not fun and this game is not a level based at all.
  • You cannot replay old chapters. You just revisit older areas to grab miss-able items and such before jumping into new chapter.
  • The only thing that is relevant when it comes to level based is Dark Realm. Nothing more.

I have considered this in the past but at the moment no. The number of runners are incredibly small. If we had enough demand of runners who already made the runs as they are willing to grind the game further in general then maybe there is a possibility.

The emulator for Oni2 also have some issues on the accuracy with frames and such. I don't want to create multiple extra sub-categories just to only have 1 runner there.

QatarLonerHero4 months ago

Honestly at this point, regardless of the input version just avoid it. This port caused us enough trouble already. Have 2 separate Installation one for practice tools with input and other is for live attempt runs with just fresh 2.4.3 or 3.1.6. install from the nexus mod.

  • Leaderboard overhaul. Story mode now is divided into Multiple route sections (Nobunaga/Samanouske/Jubei..etc.) with sub-categories NG (fresh file) / NG+ (loaded file with stats and equipment maxed).
  • Phantom Realm runs are available through IL board.
  • Adjusted some theme coloring
QatarLonerHero5 months ago

...This isn't how NG+ defined. The structure is still a mess (which affects and prevents new runners from arriving). The names are also too long.

QatarLonerHero5 months ago

Big problem is that this board needs a re-haul and a structure to setup.

If you are interested, I can offer you my help to lay a ground work for this. We can talk about it more in Onimusha discord as well. I was hoping that the previous mod would have noticed the discord and reached me out to talk about this more.

QatarLonerHero5 months ago

I rarely check here with how things fare with this game. I just noticed that HopeTrash and Maiguels are no longer the mod of this game ?

The recent category you added have interesting ideas but the names are too long and could have been cleaned up better.

VS. mode isn't really a full-game run nor the categories that requires multiple play-through in one settings (i.e Victory Souls and Max stats). You could add Phantom Realm as IL

Recently, we discovered that performing the trick causes the OBS layout timer to freeze "visual only". Meaning, the timer is still running and will calculate accordingly. For example, when the game splits on m8 the timer jumps from 16:59 to 18:09, thus indicating the timer was working the whole time.

To make things easier for us to verify we are going to add this new rule for Vergil. This also applies to Lady/Trish as well:

  • Runners will be required to get the timer running on-screen again after performing a trick. If they don't do this, or don't have a timer on their screen, run will be rejected. They also must display an RTA timer alongside with the LRT timer.
  • We are doing this to ensure that livesplit is still running correctly. this alt-enter breaks the RTA timers as well, then the solution would be that after any skip that breaks the timer is performed, the runner must pause the game and get the timer to resume like what artkiller does after performing the skip on mission 6.

Thank you and Happy running.

We've been talking on discord and this discussion has been brought multiple times. This is about making a save with m1 completed, set orbs and souls to 0 and run ng from it without tutorial with vergil and lady. Similar to how Nero starts his run.

Although I was always against it, I have seen enough and multiple people asking for it happening a lot lately.

Since it's done in a manner where it does not affect the rest of the game, we are allowing this. The saves will be uploaded in the resource.

The rules are also going to be updated after current runs verification:

  • Vergil run's now require FPS to be displayed and must be visible enough. Steam overlay is fine, but its much preferable to use Rivatuner.
  • With the newest vergil skip we require runners to show 4SE window while switching windowed > full screen mode for out of bounds setup. Alternatively, you could show us Keyboard input.

Hey there, could you please give us video demonstration about this glitch you are talking about ?

QatarLonerHero1 year ago

Hey there, and welcome to the new Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night leaderboards. In this thread, I'll be going over the changes I've made to the boards.

1. Each main tabs are now just characters or Classic. All Bosses is no longer a misc category This is very important. It's much simplified and clear, point blank. Having to split character tabs by NG, NG+ and All Bosses created a lot of bloat on the board. Therefore, what we did this to solve the issue is to define Game mode New Game/All Bosses/NG+ with the diffculity in one sub category. Additionally, the sub category for the glitches choice has been changed into Any% vs No Major Glitches. It makes much more sense that way because Any% means by any means necessary without any restriction.

2. No Major Glitches is now the default category instead of Any% No Major Glitches seems to be the best balance of the speed and amount of runners that prefer for this game. Not much else to it.

3. Classic mode no longer has Any%/No Major Glitches split Earlier, I announced that Classic mode will be moved into sub-games as a DLC/expansion. However, after discussion within the community lead us to do approach this instead.

4. Boss Rush mode Courses added to the Level Leaderboard This mode usually very popular among action game players who always wants to dunk on bosses as fast as possible. These type of categories are usually left there as they are simply clearing course level. They are also not really meant to be taken seriously with console vs pc split, despite the fact there is 60 fps cap rule on PC for obvious reasons.

That's about it. I will start working to help new runners get into the game as well, as those need overhauling. Thank you very much for you time and enjoy running Ritual of the Night.

footnote I avoided creating some other Nightmare categories and made some as a miscellaneous because there are very little people who would really want to invest it. It may also be more of a challenge run than it's worth.

[section=Download]

In No Major Glitches, you want to limit FPS with Rivatuner Statistics For Smoother and Consistent Gameplay.

You can find download link here at the bottom of page.

[section=Finding RoTN]

After you finish downloading it will show up here as an icon monitor with 60 fps click on it to expand window.

https://i.imgur.com/eOFlz5S.png

You will need to add BloodstainedRotN-Win64-Shipping.exe which can be found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Bloodstained Ritual of the Night\BloodstainedRotN\Binaries\Win64

https://i.imgur.com/EVE5j6m.png

https://i.imgur.com/or5Ufd3.png

Follow the settings above. You can customize how FPS number displayed as long as its visible and easy for us to verify. Your final step before minimizing is to click on Setup then copy these settings.

[section=Troubleshooting]

  • Rivatuner prefers to run as admin, which means the same exe which RotN boots up must run as admin as well.
  • Double check if the FPS is locked. Try Alt+Tab switch if its not locked.

Here is layout example: https://i.imgur.com/Wh1RyEg.png

If you are ever get stuck or have problems setting it up, join the discord and ask away.

Personally speaking no, unless someone optimizes it and does a run that is on par with recent runs ? maybe

Just because it doesn't exist doesn't mean it should be there when no one does it like the segmented category. Restricting Transmutation Runes doesn't change much like you said fights will take longer. It also doesn't help that the run has forced sections we can't skip and QTEs..etc.

QatarLonerHero1 year ago

After couple of help from Joshkaz we found out that load times between Xemu ( Original Xbox Emulator ) vs 360 looked about the exact same.

I have made research about 360 and found out that backward compatibility is inherently emulation which was achieved using software emulation.

Genma Onimusha is one of the supported original Xbox games which will run with an emulation profile that has been recompiled for the game with the emulation profiles stored on the console's hard drive. Meaning, when you put the disk in it checks the title ID against the database of compatible original xbox games that BC supports.

Xemu presents an environment that more closely matches the original console. It also seemed to emulates load times same as the real hardware.

Therefore, we are going to allow emulator runs for this game. Please check the game rules regarding the runs submission. At this time, we want to make the game as accessible as possible providing good experience with the run. We will also not be separating emulator vs console category.

Thanks for reading, and happy running!

thread: Onimusha
QatarLonerHero1 year ago

Alright so because of what happened with Genma Onimusha runs I made it's own board because of how diffculity works in that game see page updates in Onimusha: Warlords board.

Genma now has it's own board https://www.speedrun.com/genma_onimusha

Locking this thread.

QatarLonerHero1 year ago
  • Removed Genma version as sub-category

I have created separate board to avoid the category clutters in the original version.

https://www.speedrun.com/genma_onimusha

The main reason for this is how Ultimate works in that version. Instead of Ultimate being its own diffculity. It's a game mode. This is not the same with the Warlords. There is no Hard diffculity in Warlords either.

  • Renamed Categories from New Game to NG Any% and Chapter Challenge into CC Any%
  • Removed NG Glitchless and replaced with NMG which means No Major Glitches

This category is made for people who would not want to use Collision break bug. There will be no Glitchless category for this game unless there are enough runners ran for it.

Will be listing adjustments made to the page here.

10-13-2022

  • Platforms are merged
  • Deleted 100% Category
  • Rules updated concerning the categories that can use Out of Bonds and Collison break bug

Considering the follow up from 8th of October. I investigated the load differences on Master Collection port between PC and current-gen console. The overall result is 40.12 seconds difference with an average of 2.36 for each chapter. This isn't enough for a wholly pay2win situation.

However one of the primary reason for this separation is mainly due to PS3 having the high advantage over MC until we have discovered more Out of Bonds and Collison break bug. The rules have been updated to clarify regarding what is allowed..etc.

100% category has been deleted since there has been hardly any interest from it (Most of the life upgrades, ninpo and such are fixed route for this version unfortunately). If you have any ideas regarding NGS2 Categories or suggesting something like no upgrades, feel free to join discord and discuss.

Will be listing adjustments made to the page here.

10-07-2022

  • Platforms are merged
  • Created IL for Chapter Challenge

First off, I decided to investigate the load differences between PC and current-gen console last month. This, because NG3RE is the only good Master Collection port out of all 3 games. It turned out that there are barely any difference as the loads in this game are mostly scripted. It's only the black screen transition has little inconsistency with .5s and such.

Secondly, thanks to the mother nature of NG3:RE run with it's length. I decided to create Individual Levels board that is focused to optimise and run whichever chapters you like in Chapter Challenge mode for all characters. The primary benefit from this is that it will help us to optimise and route for New Game category better.

** References are used from New Game category: Myself PC vs DECosmic PS5 vs GTNima PS4. With the loading screen per day. **

To Sum it up:

  • The most time to be saved on PC vs. Console was only seconds difference, not enough for a wholly pay2win situation.
  • It doesn't take a supercomputer to run the game.
  • IL Created to for those who likes doing segmented runs more

Thanks for reading and Happy Running!
