For the real deep dive you can watch a runner's past broadcasts on Twitch to see if they're doing anything shady as well, such as resetting from a save state.

It's true that by watching all runs from one user you can catch things might have otherwise not caught. I actually had this issue recently, but this was a runner I was skeptical of from the jump. Still, most people don't submit multiple runs anyways, and if they do, are they trustworthy enough to skip watching their obsoleted run? Your call really.

Uh a lower number sounds like an indicator of progress to me. My point was that you really shouldn't care about leaderboard position, focus on just doing better runs. If your run is 200th place on the leaderboard, then there are 199 people better than you. Being in the top 25% doesn't mean shit. People focus way too much on their leaderboard standing.

edit: and no leaderboard number, trophy, percentage, etc is an indicator of a good run. Ask the hundreds of runners with """world records""" in games with little to no competition.

Muh trophy/wr culture is already bad enough, why make it worse? You don't need a shiny gold star saying "u tried". View your PB as your trophy.
Don't you think there should be some decision making process for deciding mods?
Such as? I'm assuming you mean upon leaderboard creation. Well, how do you decide that?
Sure, choosing the first mod that way is fine, but what if that person doesn't do a good job moderating?
They can be removed as mod.
What if they don't want any other mods so that they get to make all the rules regardless of what everyone else thinks?
They can be removed as mod.
This is a big concern I have with this site as a whole. Rules for games, leaderboard layout, and run verification all need to be done by the players that actually play the game, and be decided by the community as a whole, not by the person who creates the leaderboard first.
And they are. What makes you think that one person controls an entire community? Just because they have mod? They can be removed, just have to ask site mods and explain the situation.
There should be some way a community can say "Hey, we don't want this person to be the only mod, instead we want this/these people to be a mod".
https://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/63nr7
The "talk to the current moderator" system doesn't work well if that moderator doesn't agree with you / the community. If that's the case, then the leaderboard is run by a tyrant instead of a moderator.
So talk to the site mods and explain the situation. What do you propose otherwise? Leaderboards are community lead, they try not to get in the middle unless they have to.
There needs to be some kind of merit behind mods or democratic process to decide mods after the first.
Well ignoring the fact that there are games out there that only have a community of about 2 people, most games end up with the right mods because they're the people that play the game and know it the best. What exactly are you suggesting? You usually only end up with a bad mod when they decide to request some shit game that no one will play, and several months or years into the future you get someone that wants to submit runs and OOPS that mod hasn't logged in in 3+ months. Leaderboards are community lead. If you wanna take votes on who should mod, then do exactly that I guess? It's not up to SRC site mods.
Why is there still no thread / submission form for this to be done?
Cause people that speedrun the game and know it well should be mods, not randoms that have some arbitrary merit that you haven't clarified on.
It could be based on run times, experience with the game, community vote, etc. Anything would be better than how it is now where it's solely up to the discretion of the first mod for that game
It's not up to the first mod that requested the game, it's already up to the community.

Welcome to SRC, enjoy your stay.

I guess that could work for audio tracks but how does that solve the issue of video?

If you PB, and want to submit said PB, then do it. The mods took that role and should expect to deal with it. Still, if you know you can PB easily, maybe don't make 10 submissions.

And yeah if you have multiple submissions from one person, don't verify one run and reject the others. I get it if you verify one after watching it, but ignore watching the other runs and just auto verify, cause they're obsolete now, but rejection? Nah don't do that.

How do I record the gameplay only with game audio only, locally? Sometimes I want to mute the game audio when I stream, if I record locally, how do I record the solo gameplay with game audio?

I've read elsewhere that Amarec is pointless nowadays but I'm not sure what's changed. gvusb2>OBS is great if you don't want to record locally I guess.

I don't remember why, maybe the youtube link he posted was a live video at one point pertaining to nothing relevant. Maybe he deleted some of his posts, idk.

It's literally the equivalent of pressing pause to skip a cutscene. If that counts as cheating then you must have a problem with hundreds of other games too.

But the HL forum gave you your answer already so idk why you chose to ignore it and post here Mr. Newaccount

You have to find a ROM on your own, using whatever means you wanna use. It's technically illegal to upload ROMs with the purpose of sharing, and SRC probably doesn't want you to share ROMs on their site.
