Could I get mod for SRC? @Pac has been inactive for 6 months and my run has been left in limbo.
Yeah every game is different, for sure. Still, I'd say run that game regardless if emulator is all you have. You could get leaderboard made up for it if you show that there is interest in emulator runs. Or you could, like I said before, just run it anyways and make your own leaderboard.
We'll never know I guess and I'm sure he'll claim no reason when his 7 days are up :^)
Ya know communication with the users of your leaderboard website is pretty HECKing crucial. I'd complain about elo.io here, but then again the moderation thread was nuked and remade before because people wanted to discuss moderation, instead of use it just to make requests.
Yeah he posts emotes, english probably isn't his first language, and he's impatient, but that's most speedrunners in my experience. Must be some DM shit I guess. Glad that was added :)
I'm curious what people mean by "TAS detectable". I imagine that would matter more depending on game, yeah? I know with NES games you could splice together full runs in emu all day.
Probably cause those games don't work well with emulators. Having said that you could always separate emu from console on the leaderboard. Lastly, fuck em, speedrun on emulator anyways. Create your own leaderboard with blackjack and hookers.
There's no policy because leaderboards are free to police themselves as it should be. Allowing no video evidence is how you get your Todd Rogers somewhere down the line. I get what you're trying to accomplish with this, but it's pointless either way, as if there's ever a question of validity, it's just a case of "someone saw it at one point". Hell sometimes video proof isn't even enough for validation, but that's really a whole other topic lol.
Why? Well, I've noticed people arguing about speedruns without evidence. Should they be allowed? Should they not?
no vid no did
Right now, I'm sure people are aware of the issue, but trust me when I say it's going to get worse. I'm also new to Twitch, but I've noticed something about it - it removes streams over time. So if the top 3 spots are now using Twitch as evidence, at some point in the near future, there will be no proof that a] the world record holder truly achieved the time b] the world record holder ever even played the game.
use an actual video sharing platform and keep a backup saved somewhere else. Relying on twitch is one of the first mistakes new runners make. Should be said though that the "it removes streams over time" thing is only if you don't highlight.
Keep in mind we already have tabs for some games for "emulator" scores, as they may be considered less valid or otherwise reasonable to separate for certain games. So this "legacy" tab is no more work than we're already doing, and it solves a developing problem.
it's separated most likely because of inaccurate emulation, not for any other reason (or shouldn't be for any other reason.)
Either way yeah this seems like a waste of time. It's on the runner to keep their video up. If they lose the VOD they can redo the run. Leaderboards should be ever-changing things anyways. New strats are developed, old runs get beaten. Regardless, no vid, no did.
You can't make money off one time $5 donations. Not the kind elo.io needs to justify acquiring SRC.
Yeah just let him vent he'll either stop complaining or leave the site, I'm guessing the former.
$14.99/month to submit a run, view the leaderboard, or post in the Minecraft forums. We can hand out 7 day free trials.
op is off the goop but he's right to be anti ad. Telling people to just use an adblocker isn't the point. Like yeah its a solution for some people, but even then still not the point. elo.io could ask for donations, subs, etc. and plenty of people on src would fork out money, but they know just slapping ads on the site is a better business model.
I don't speak in Twitch emotes, hombre.
They see your threads, buddy. Do you think sending an email would actually get anything other than silence or an auto generated response? If they have a plan to roll out monetization no amount of kicking, screaming, or shitting yourself will change that.
