I agree that every case is different, but knowing how a team has approached a similar situation doesn't hurt in the slightest. There's nothing wrong with being open-minded in this situation.

There are runs of other multiple game challenges with game swaps included. If you choose to run the game with the longest intro at any point other than first, you lose time. It's just how it works, and that's okay for this type of challenge. Just leave open the option to plan your route around that and let people make that choice individually.

mashing, any order, normal end timing (last hit)

Move this to the site forums, this issue is not specific to this game.

What is world 1 skip?

How do you reset your progress for the intention of a speedrun?

Jumpyluff8 years ago

I don't know all the differences between the Steam and flash versions of the game. If somebody is willing to list all the differences and draw out a concept for the boards I'd be willing to make the change.

Jumpyluff8 years ago

Submit a run of that to the current category and I'd be willing to split it then. No point in adding an extra board of this type for it to be empty for any amount of time.

Currently, the rules for All Missions is to complete "All 99 Missions." This brings the ingame percentage to 98% before Dirty Bubble and presumably 99% after the fight, but is never seen because the game file doesn't save.

Here are the 99 known missions. If you have a save file that is showing 99% before Dirty Bubble, reply here with the mission name and position and the rules will be fixed.

you could click the "filter" button and display only times that use what you're looking for. the ctrl+f method won't show gdf's 10:41 for an example

I tweeted to Area51 about having him personally upload the footage to his own account, just so people can see the run if they want to and still have the run anonymous. Didn't happen, which surprised me.

Jumpyluff8 years ago

The versions you have listed are all correct except the DS version, which is much different than the platform/PC version. A separate page will be made for the DS version of the game.

I will be doing a run on March 18th, and I will be submitting a separate game page. This is similar to the situation with Toy Story 3 and Wall-E when it comes to console/handheld versions.

And wouldn't making 'no cape' a subcategory (literally exactly what it is supposed to be used for) fix this? You would be able to show the categories you're currently showing, no star world, 95 no cape, 11 no cape, etc: everything the community has been asking you for one thread at a time.

That's because there would be a lot of 1st place ties. I think 0 exit is fine as a main, but there are a lot of others that should / shouldn't be main/misc. It's not reflective of what the community wants at all.

Just the fact that NCNSW is main and No Star World is misc is confusing. It's an extra arbitrary restriction and has a LOT less runners. The site as a whole is littered with crap like this.

Okay, then call the others "No Cape, 11 Exit" and "No Cape, 95 Exit"

How is this correct in either scenario? Pure laziness.

I'm not saying they are wrong all the time, but they should always be open to new ideas. I have never once seen a suggestion, no matter how valid, go through mods in this community. Even something as simple as saying "No Cape, Goal" and "Goal, No Cape" should be changed has been denied. It is logical and formal, but the mods are so blind to see why the inconsistency is wrong. It's understandable to baby a leaderboard like this when they put so much effort into it, but rejecting the communities ideas one by one every single time without fail is wrong in this case. A line has to be drawn, no community is perfect and there's always a way to improve.

Because the leaderboard in general is ran by biased individuals who will shut down any outside opinion including your own very quickly.
