So I see you guys made an Any% No BS page. Why not move all previous runs of the game there? Or possible do what they did on www.speedrun.com/jak1 ?
I think the mods should treat each case differently. If suspicion arises on a run before or after verification, it could be investigated then instead of trying to claim all runs that weren't streamed are spliced or something. On that note, I'm with Anti.
Dram, GDF, and NickJ's runs were all streamed. I don't see the issue here.
kinda reminds me of a little thing that happens in spyro 2/3 speedruns. there's this guy "moneybags" where you have to pay him a certain number of gems: 400/500/1000, whatever depending on the scenario. if you're collecting the final gems as you start talking to him, his dialogue is already made up as soon as you start, so even if you have enough when you get to him, you have to give him a chance to re-read your game totals.
Or just have them all displayed under the same category because nobody gives a shit overall.
However if this is the decision that is made, I expect it to be Hints with the choices being on or off. both should be displayed by default and they should obsolete each other.
In all seriousness, this is the kind of thing that you don't have to do if you don't want to. I think it would be ridiculous to ban it. It requires no memory card, it's just a setting within the game. If you're against doing it, don't do it.
speedrun.com/bk Wanna know why runners never have a wiped cartridge? By having a complete file on the cartridge, the cutscene after Spiral Mountain is skippable. RTA runs allow this because it's a tedious time change that everybody agrees is fine to take out. For the TAS, which specifically always requires a fresh cartridge/disc, it is not allowed. That's also the reason we don't get to see a Diddy Kong Racing tas with TT, which requires 100% to unlock, yet all RTA runs use it.
I don't see this rule changing. It's not necessary that you disable hints. That's your timeloss. To be specific, I'd suggest a mod add "Disabling hints prior to the run is allowed." to the rules.
Isn't it time for this to be grouped into a series? I don't want to be the mod for it, but I'd suggest having f1 as the series mod.
Honestly I think it would be really cool if you took this as the challenge it is rather than a speedrun challenge. It would be cool to see how many A presses it takes to beat any% and how many for 120 shines. Why not get an emulator and do some digging the way pannen and his team have been doing it for years? If it's something you're interested in, I'm sure you could get a nice viewership from it too.
it'd be exactly like adding ILs to banjo tooie, just not feasible
good discovery! i hope my friend and speedrun.com user f "f1" 1 will utilize this amazing strategy in his upcoming world record speedruns
You can begin your next "launch" as soon as you see the pill in Mario's hand again.
The pill will land in the flask depending on the line on the middle of the pill. The farther right that this line is within the colored region, the less time it takes.
This game loves to drop clicks. Between each throw, move your cursor just a little bit to keep it from locking up.
Keep track of what you have thrown. Each flask takes 4 pills. If you have thrown 4 blues, 3 yellows, and 0 reds, be PREPARED to throw reds, but keep your eyes peeled for the yellow.
The timer starts when you click "Play Game". You must be quick from that button to the first launch.
what i know is that each one is roughly half a second, so in 120 it saves 1 minute. it's pretty easy to compute that it would save roughly 35 seconds in 70 star.

There's probably another site dedicated to it as well, would need digging, but this is what I'd use.
Please don't do timing pauses.
