I recently found this game and I'm interested in learning it. However according to the rules "There is no official English version. Runs should be done on an unmodified, Japanese version of the game." Which does make sense. I'm curious how you think about a softmodded console though. I know from some other PSP games for example Final Fantasy 1 - that you can softmod your PSP and play the ISO rather than the actual UMD. In those cases you are running on console and it should be as fast as running with UMD. So I was wondering how you think about this and if this would be an option. I'm pretty sure it would draw some more runners to the game :)

I'm planning to pick up the game as one of my new speedruns. I was curious if there are any guides or notes for either the any% or 100% speedrun. Like what clock you should pick up when etc. If not thats fine. I still gonna speedrun it though :D

OH one other question. Is there a reason why most people play on PC? I have the PS2 version and intend to run that version.

Hey everyone,

I'm one of the guys moderating the Leaderboards for Dissidia Final Fantasy and we recently discovered a small "problem" Since I'm not quite sure how to solve this I'm asking here for help :)

We have a bunch of different categories. In some of them you can choose which character you wanna play. We thought it would be nice to display this on the leaderboards aswell. I know how to set up this variables. But only some categories need these variables. So if I make 1 variable its either for every category or for none. I could do this individual for each category but then this happens:

Basically I get a bunch off filter options on a category where I have set only 1 variable for.

Sometimes the runs for that specific category completly disappear. In this case "Shade Impulse 1" which is a misc category

I tried to work around a bit. Setting it up as subcategories etc. None of the things worked out. So I'm seeking your help. Maybe this is a bug or just a mistake in the game settings from our side. If you have any idea how to solve this, let me know :)

btw for reference we would need the "character variable just for the following categories: any% Shade Impulse 1 Shade Impulse 2 Shade Impulse 3 Shade Impulse 4 Distant Glory - The Lady of Legend Distant Glory - Redemption of the Warrior Inward Chaos

For Distant Glory and Inward Chaos even more character options than for the other ones.

recently I came up with the idea for something new regarding FF9 Speedruns and would like to hear you ideas,thought and feedback.

I was thinking about a category mainly and only about the Chocobo minigame "Hot&Cold". Basic idea is to start on a savefile where you havent visited the Chocobo Forest at all and progressed at least up to the point where you have access too the airship.

So the maingoal is find every chocograph in the forest, lagoon and the sky garden and find the treasures on the world map.

Time starts: When you enter the Chocobo Forest Time ends: When you found the last treasure on the overworld (24/24) - No matter which one, depends on which one is faster OpieOP

Allthough this ending is kinda anticlimatic the ending could be also killing ozma, which, with the items you get during this sidequest, should be possible. Maybe even a better ending. Ideas?

Let me answer a few question that came to my mind you might have :)

Q: A savefile without the Chocobo? A: Yes, its easy to get, since you dont nessesarily need the chocobo during a normal run (it just takes a bit longer)

Q: Why do you need the airship? A: You need at least the Hildegard 3 to be able to find the last two chocograph pieces.

Q: Why not include the "Dead Pepper" Spots? A: That would mean you have to do this on Disc 4 (cause Island of Light aka Zidane's Ultimate Weapon and the Mists might makes it a bit harder OpieOP)

Q: How long would this run take? A: If you dont count the preparation. I would say 2 hours on average.

I made an example run so you can see what I mean. Let me know what you guys are thinking. Even if you dont make it an official category (yet, cause we would need more runners for that) I wanted to present you the idea and I will probably run this category anyway. But feel free to let me know what you are thinking either here or on Discord SoBayed

Hello everyone,

you have may or may not noticed that in the last couple weeks and months some things have changed on the leaderboards. Regarding the Moderation and the rules for the individual categories. As part of the "Rebuild" Process for D:FF. To make it more interesting an understandable for new players and also more fair for existing runners, we have made this post. To explain what rules and requirment we decided for submissions and stuff.

Running on Emulator? Running on Emulator is allowed (we advise PPSSPP v1.2.2 or any newer version). Technically Emulator is faster than console. However there is a way to softmod your PSP to use ISOs on it). Which makes the consoles as fast as the emulator and with that comparable to each other.

Timing Rules: First of all. We ask you to use the correct timing and check it yourself. Submissions without the correct timing may or may not get rejected until you submitted with the correct time.

Start Time: For the any% and 100% Category the Time starts as soon as you press "Back ○" after creating the new savefile. For the Individual Stories like Prologue%, Character% etc. the time start as soon as you press "YES x" on "Play this story"

End Time: For the any% and 100% Category the Time ends as soon as you see "The Final Blow" after the last Chaos Fight. For the Individual Stories the time ends as soon as you see "The Final Blow" after the Final Fight of each Story.

General Rules: For 100% ---> After the Final Fights (even though the timer is already stopped) please show in the Submission Video that every Story is completed by 100% (means Prologue 100%, every Character Story 100%, Shade Impulse 100%, Distant Glory I + II 100% and Inward Chaos 100%)

For the Character Stories you are not allowed to have any progress in one of the other stories (except Prologue). Making use of the BonusDay is allowed. Making use of the Calendar Boost is not allowed. You are not allowed to pre-customize your character (not even go into customization and instant leave)

For any% and 100% it is allowed (and recommended) to make use of the Bonus Day and the Calendar Boosts. The character you use for any% and the order you do in 100% doesn't matter

Videosubmission: YouTube or Twitch or whatever? Doesn't matter. Whatever suits you better. Runs without Video get rejected instantly. Your VOD needs to contain the whole run (and a few seconds before and after the run). Except more informations are nessesary for example for 100% (look above)!

Please ensure that your video has at least somewhat good quality. No Delay between Sound and Game. Have gamesound etc. This isnt a necessary rule but keep in mind that we have to watch these Submission and dont wanna get turtured in terms of videoquality OpieOP

The Addams Family Speedrun Bingo

Dear Addams Family Speedrun Friends. I'm proud to present you the Addams Family SpeedRun Bingo. Yes you've heard right, now we have our very own Bingo OhMyDog In this post I would like to explain how it works.

First thing you need to do: Go to ---> https://bingosync.com/ <--- and create your own Addams Family Bingo Room. Hide your card initially. Every Player should set their Timer on -1:00 minutes (it depends on you) OpieOP As soon as everyone is in the room, picked a color and is ready the card gets revealed and the players can start their timers. This is the preparation time. Within that time you can think about the route you want to take and seems the most reasonable to you. As soon as the Timer hits zero you start the game and the Bingo begins. The goal is to get 5 completed Objectives in a Row, a col or a diagonal in order to get a Bingo. You could also aim for a Double or Triple Bingo if you are Crazy enough. First Player who achieves that, wins.

The Goals are very different. Some require special strats, some require knowledge about certain items or room locations. In order to make it a bit more fair I've made a little Bingo Goal encyclopedia.

Hey Guys,

I've been trying to figured out how we can revive this game and get new runners for it. Since we all know "A Speedrun ist'n anything without its runners. With the upcoming AGDQ next month and garbanzo's presentation of the game, it maybe gets some more attention. For myself I've been trying to get my feet in every marathon~ish thing i can attempt, to get at least some attentions and maybe new runners.

What about you? Do you have any ideas? How we can get people to run this? Maybe the origin Runners get more active too! SoBayed
