Hi!
Those runners that have submissions uploaded as Twitch VODs: Please make sure to check if any of your runs are marked as "At Risk".
you can read more about this in the post below that also includes a deadline for deletion of non-backed up twitch storage and some tips for archiving and other useful things.
https://www.speedrun.com/news/o2vko35l-twitch-runs-at-risk-are-now-visible-for-runners-moderators
As mods we will of course give runners time to update their video submissions. If you are a runner that has a run marked as "at risk" I encourage you to take those steps.
Thanks,
Hi!
I am interested in the Time Attack mode for this game for speedrunning. I am however unsure on whether or not my settings for emulation are correct.
I have done my very best to make sure that the settings as described in the rules are followed.
I have taken a screenshot that shows Version and hopefully also the correct settings for an emulator run of Time Attack Mode.
I would be very grateful if anyone would be able to respond to me and better yet help me to fix anything I might have missed in terms of settings (and how to display said settings properly if need be).
Many thanks in advance, hope to start running this soon!

Hello everyone!
an update yet again
New categories separating OG DC Hardware from emulation has been added. all affected runs have been moved over- A category for freeplay arcade runs are also implemented for various difficulties. all affected runs have been moved over to correct category.
the work with he board is ongoing and all constructive feedback is appreciated!
Note: while implementing these changes you will see changes in placement due to the addition of new categories and separations. However no runs have been orphaned or deleted. if you have any issues do feel free to dm me, or we can talk on the discord!.
Take care!
Hi!
I have now added General rules and Category rules (Any% and 1CC) to the game. The game also has 1 CC categories for Baby, Very Hard and Normal. If you want more added categories please let me know!
If you have a 1CC run currently in an Any% category and would like it moved over to 1CC please let me know!
some minor cosmetic implementation has also been done (background and colors)
Separating Dreamcast runs from Arcade runs have been suggested, I will gladly do it, but I am just looking into how interested players are in this idea, if I don't hear back in some time I might refrain from implementing such a change.
If there is any emulator that is fully banned I will gladly add such info to the list of General rules as well.
Feel free to join the discord for speedrunning Cannon Spike that is available, there you can discuss rules, critique runs, discuss speedrunning the game, rules, categories and more! If you have a 1CC run currently in an Any% category and would like it moved over to 1CC please let me know!
If any other suggestions exist for implementing to this game's speedrun categories, rules etc please do let me know!
All constructive feedback welcome
Take care all!
Hello everyone!
late last year I volunteered as mod for this game and to create a discord. I have since approved a few runs but it wasn't until now that the discord was finalized. The link to the discord can be found on the game's page here on speedrun.
I also wanted to implement as suggested by the community, a 1CC category for each difficulty level, and also add game rules and category specific rules.
Suggestion for general game rules look like this:
"Time starts when character has been selected.
Time ends when last hit lands on final boss.
Please show difficulty selection on main menu in run submission
"here at the end I would do a list of allowed/banned emulators"
No cheats or boosters allowed."
For 1cc:
"For 1cc runs regardless of difficulty, the game must be beaten using no continues."
for any% runs:
"For any% runs regardless of difficulty, the use of all available continues are allowed."
Please let me know what you think either here or in the discord which you can join at any time and we can discuss all things Cannon Spike! (anyone who mods for Cannon Spike on speedrun.com will be a mod in the discord also if they want!)
I will hold off on implementing anything before hearing from the community as i don't want to overstep any bounds as a new mod for the game.
Take care all!
Hi!
as others have suggested as well. I think a 1cc category should be implemented.
Hi
I love this game and I wanna run it.
I am new to speedrunning, and in Cannon Spike I have a pending run in Baby Mode at this time.
I would love to create a discord to discuss the game and speedrunning strats, optimization and rules/categories. Can also be a place to inttoduce new runners, and discuss all things Cannon Spike
I realiza this is a small community. But I currently have the timre to also help approve submitted runs if help is needed with that. I can also submitt rules, guides and whatever else to the Speedrun.com page for Cannon Spike.
I realize it is holiday season times so I know many are busy, but if a helping hand or more community feels are wanted just let me know!
Happy holidays!
Is there perhaps a way for fans of the game and running it to get together online and hang/teach strategies etc? The created discord is seemingly inactive for the past year, this forum is not well used etc.
Is contacting people on youtube that have done runs a way perhaps? any streamers to suggest that run this? I suppose I am one of them but I am far from the best lol and all my recordings are deleted that was made on my stream due to disc space limitations sadly. (including my best ever run with Hien :( )
appreciate any input and suggestions!
No Boost Run ( for all categories with Hiryu only obviously)
I think No Boost Running would be a cool way to add further challenge to the game and runs and possibly lead to new strategies like how to best defeat mission 1 Dragon and final boss for example! (useful especially in the event that you have no boost, a sit wouldn't kill runs and it would also remove need to pickup boosts during run for optimal coming battles)
Just a suggestion!
Hi
I am new to this game and speedrunning in general
I am wondering if submitting only IGT is fine for runs? The reason I am asking is I truly don't understand splitting (yet) and I think just showing the results screen is such a smooth way of submitting, both for full runs, any % and level runs, same goes for the hien%.
on a selfish note having the splitting tool also makes me nervous and rushes me in a negative way causing mistakes a lot lol.
Thanks!
I go by ILikeFightingGames (Games, Fighting, ILFG, Fighting Games etc is all fine too)
I found the game strider 2 this fall and absolutely loved it very much
I decided to try running it in all categories but primarily Hien %
I am not good by any means and there is so much I don't know in terms of optimization and speedrunning programs and tech, and I am very inconsistent in my performance, but I wanna give it a go for as long as it is fun!
I have no plans at this time to speedrun another game but that may change!
I hope to have a run good enough to place in any category or level times at some point.
I tend to get very nervous when trying to perform in a game but I think that is a threshold to overcome
I am in the process of finalizing a video for submission as a all levels hiryu run that I hope can also function as an entry into other categories.
as OBS won't capture duckstation it is watermarked and it even has a sloppy run attached to it to boot, but I want to try to go through the process of submitting and getting a response so I reach that milestone and am aware of how it works.
I have much to learn but I am motivated
Take care everyone!
I joined the discord but sadly it seems inactive
