If .ms starts getting automatically displayed, then every run on the site now that doens't have it entered would be displayed as Xm XXs 000ms. Which would be untrue for almost every one of them.
Which is why I proposed a setting, this would be off by default, resulting in the behaviour it has right now (no change to anything) if you want to always show ms, you can opt in with the setting, but it'll affect all runs in that category.
Would it be possible to get an IL page like the other Picross games?
(And if I might suggest, would it be possible to add subcategories to Normal/Hard? for Normal it's pretty lengthy to run all levels...)
@Razorflame are you sure the runs were submitted 4-17 days before they showed up or do you mistake the submitted on date with the played on date? the runs awaiting verification page doesn't cache or anything, so it'd be very weird for the database to just not throw those runs when asked to.
@TalicZealot If you want to run a 2-class system where slower times are less worth, that's you - but the site shouldn't have to accomodate for something like that.
@6oliath This should suffice then? The settings on the game-edit page would be used as "default" when creating new categories, so they're not going to become useless when something like this would be implemented.
Accuracy field would be governing the accuracy of timing used for the timing methods, so if you want to track real time in deciseconds but the ingame-timer is accurate to the centisecond, you could.
(Although what I would add still would be a "allow time of 0" checkbox for games like Picross, where the igt is only counting up in seconds and starts at 0, so if you beat a level in less than 1s, it would show 0s)
This honestly goes back a bit to when @ROMaster2 was still working on the code,
he planned to make categories govern their own timing stuff.
The image @ROMaster2 was showing back in december 2017 for comparison
@TalicZealot Issue is that the db stores times as s.ms, so to the server, a time put in as 3s 000ms or just 3s is the same.
I would've wanted more of a category toggle per timing method,
e.g. for games where ingame-time is only tracked to the second, but rta/loadless etc is tracked with ms.
now, if we could also get that 000ms displayed, then we could have a wonderful world
Direct Links as the /games page is buggy rn with the ~15s load times.
https://www.speedrun.com/ajax_gameslist.php?sorting=playerCount&direction_sort=on https://www.speedrun.com/ajax_gameslist.php?sorting=activePlayers&direction_sort=on https://www.speedrun.com/ajax_gameslist.php?sorting=fgRunCount&direction_sort=on https://www.speedrun.com/ajax_gameslist.php?sorting=runCount&direction_sort=on
only "popularity" filters the site has would be either "Sort by active player" or by total runs/players.
There's a multitude of things, like properly emulating lag, loading speeds, properly interpreting the game-code so the glitches work etc.
The more the application behaves like the real deal the better the chances for it to be usable for speedrunning.
and if you look at the few emulators for e.g. gamecube, ps2, switch and 3ds, you notice their target audience doesn't care for most of those things. they want to play their games in 4k 144fps regardless of if the console could do it.
I feel like most people would understand to put the actual Japanese title in Japanese, as long as there's a JP version.
You overestimate people...
but yes, if memory serves correctly, that is the reason.
I, too would love to see a solution implemented.
Pokkén Tournament, for example, is named Pokémon Tekken in germany, and germany only. Rest of EU got Pokkén Tournament.
(This is because the German name for Smallpox is Pocken, and phonetically Pokkén & Pocken are the same, so to avoid people confusing it with smallpox, they changed the name to Pokémon Tekken for germany.)
Lv. 24 Weeb here,
I like action stuff like JOJO's, Fate & One Punch Man, but my top stuff is either complete bullocks like Sky Girls, and tear jerkers like Angel Beats.
(I'm not opposed to watching great stuff Like Death Note, *gatari & No Game No Life though)
Requesting Picross DS to be part of the Picross Series.
(Also, if applicable, as I haven't heard back from my inquiry on the discord:)
-Requesting My Nintendo Picross The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess to be part of the Zelda Series -Requesting Pokemon Picross to be part of the Pokemon Series -Requesting Sanrio Characters Picross to be part of the Hello Kitty Series (Sanrio is the overarching name/company for Hello Kitty & Friends)
@sanswitch1 there exists an entire game around RNG, RNG HELL THE GAME
