i had this happen with the drowning zombie dudes in my find emerald seed, i imagine the time would start when you get pushed but dunno if there's any rules on that yet
awesome! Do you think this will get many runners? On one hand it seems like a long game so maybe not, but it's a very special game which might have appeal and also maybe people within the MGS community will try running this? though I haven't played any mgs games so I don't know if they are widely different
Hey, I'm super excited to see this game on speedrun.com now! I have been checking new game releases each day to see when this would be added.
I'm just curious if anyone have been thinking about how runs would be for this game, and given the 'social strand system', would there be a category for offline and online play? I think a category with the social strand thing would be super interesting since it's very rng dependent so if you're lucky you'll get a super big timesave if you find a motorbike early or smth. anyways hope there are other excited runners for this game although the runs will probably be kinda long
hmm yeah i see what you mean, i definitely won't say this will be a game of the year or anything but I feel like it has potential to be either that or the total opposite also i suppose. it seems like kojima has been holding back on showing too much so saying the game is just a fedex walking simulator, or the game of the century, would be jumping to conclusions. but personally i can't help being really interested in this game as it seems super original and different, especially considering the "strand-element".
Hey here's my decks in my LK All Classes WR.
Decks:
Decklists: https://pastebin.com/snHHfk6J
There's two new additions to my decks compared to the previous WR (other than the fact that i went for the extra RNG in playing molten giant warlock instead of scaled nightmare combo) Addition 1: Zephrys. I used him in all scaled nightmare decks. So far he has always been active when I've needed him since you've pretty much emptied your deck by the point you have your scaled nightmare on board. You can use him for mass dispel/board clear to 100% deal with taunt no matter how many 2/3 taunts or belchers he puts on his board, or you can use him for windfury/blessed champion for a faster kill. so he's definitely worth it. Addition 2: Mecha'thun rogue, a lot faster and prob more consistent than other decks, although i have died before to early aggression with buffs from LK. i use voodoo doll to kill anka if lich king keeps her on board or freezes her.
Hey I'm really curious if anyone else have thought about Death Stranding as a speed game? Personally I'm super excited for the game despite many players shrugging it off as a "walking simulator". That's definitely not the case if you look at the different teasers and gameplay shown there's so much more to the game other than just walking around (action scenes, boss fights, cool cinematics, huge open world, fun casual stuff in the safe room etc.)
The thing that I find super interesting about the game is the 'strand' element - basically other players can leave stuff behind in the world that you can interact with or pick up. Kojima calls this a totally new game genre where you can interact indirectly with other players, and I think it's gonna have super cool merit in speedruns too! It will make for some super interesting speedruns since you kinda have to improvise on the spot if you find useful items on the ground or a motorbike etc.
Anyway, I just wanted to hear other people's thoughts on Death Stranding, possibly as a potential speedgame, although I reckon a lot of people won't run it since it will probably have a super long runtime. (personally i have gotten used to that though after speedrunning RDR2) But I really think this will be interesting and I imagine the game would be split into an offline and online category, where you in the offline category have a consistent route but in the online category need to improvise and adapt to whatever items, objects or vehicles you find along your journey.
EDIT: i'm curious if anyone else have thought about running this/adding this to speedrun.com? I've seen some people add unreleased games, does anyone know how do that because I definitely want to submit this game if no one else wants to. :P
Hey! Have you routed the best options to take in each chapter/fastest dialogue choices? Also what is faster between console/pc?
this is a massive timesave but it also activates audio glitch so unless we find a way to make more use of it or fix the audio glitch then it's not worth. (you fix audio glitch by restarting game) It might also not be easy to replicate. Maybe on PS5 with faster loads.
credit to rvan for this one, reset checkpoint strat: place deer on horse to advance the checkpoint then reset it so Charles is ready to ride.
You can also do this later in this mission by making the bear mad (look for red things on minimap) and resetting checkpoint then you will be placed further ahead on the map.
Also works in chapter 5 with gloria (greedy gold lady) where you kill yourself in the deep cliff to spawn at the gate.
ride into tree instead of exhausting horse normally strat
this might save a bit of time but prob not worth it currently
Dialogue skip found by Lalpop+Cody Knight Basically you skip the slowdown and dialogue when Arthur walks to a mission by entering it from above. Works in American Pastoral Scene + My Last Boy, could possibly work in other missions as well.
there's not much motivation to submit runs when any runs I may want to do will be deemed "not interesting" and shoved off to the dark side of the internet
It seems that you really enjoy the game/story since you've been doing multiple playthroughs in different ways, so maybe you would enjoy speedrunning it? I know that one of the things I enjoy a lot about running this game is seeing the story progress over the duration of the run. But speedrunning this game definitely is a big commitment and as you said it has a lot of dialogue and other stuff that makes it a bit of an odd speedgame. But IDK, if you want to spend 15 hours to play through the game then go for it, I enjoy playing through the game and watching the story and characters progress although I often take a month or two break between each run as it of course is a tedious game to speedrun. But you don't have to jump straight into the full run, you could just start with speedrunning the first chapter for example. (or any of the other chapters).
ok i wrote a lot woops
yeah idk i was super hyped for this but nothing really happens about it, me and crafterdark submitted a "overpowered" speedrun long ago, but i guess that category just isn't "interesting" so nothing's happening about that. anyway, i'm really grateful that CE is a thing but it's much more fun if you can compete with already established ILs. IMO they should just do it manually, it really shouldn't take that much time, just transfer like 10 runs a day or smth.
(by transfer I mean make a copy with the same time and video evidence and then delete the original from the IL)
that sounds like a speedrun i want to watch :D hope something feels like taking up the challenge!
