It is legal to utilize the shorter cutscene due to a death, as long as you include the death in the overall IL timing. Same goes for using a super guide block as a platform.
VC is an emulator, albeit an official one. Upon the release of the VC version, the community immediately banned the platform due to this. The Wii U has the ability to run wii discs as well, so this really shouldn't cause much of a conflict.
Well, then I would recommend making a discord :P . It's by far the easiest way to communicate with people, and there are lots of knowledgeable runners in the NSMBW discord (linked in the forum).
I would personally change it to first input, just to match the timing of NSMBW and other hacks (by the way, SMW is also timed from first frame of possible input, which just happens to be before the text box appears in the cutscene :P ). However if people feel file select would be more appropriate, I have no objections.
In low%, the general goal is to not use any powerups...

With the new rule change allowing people to do runs of world RTAs from completed files, a run I had completed of the world 1 RTA obliterated the past WR held by Auchgard by 41 seconds, although the run by Auchgard was far better and more optimized. Similar to how there is an option in the 3-4 IL to run with or without the switch, I am proposing that there be an option to specify whether you have completed the world RTA from either a completed or new file. This would be a fairly easy change to implement, and I feel that it would be more fair to those who have runs on new files. I would love to hear your responses!

I agree with the low% change. I feel like yoshi is an added extra powerup, and he shouldn't be allowed in a category entirely based on not collecting any powerups. Also, "No yoshi except secret exit in 1-3" looks bad for the category in general on the rules, and makes it look more like a strange misc. category, instead of a main category... which reminds me... MAKE LOW% A MAIN CATEGORY AGAIN! OpieOP

Ongnissim, Speaking Of new tech, I have an idea for a skip for any% that could save up to 30 seconds, so stay tuned :P testing in dolphin is required and I'm lazy AF so it could be a while OpieOP
I would be more than happy if Ongnissim was appointed, he would make a much better mod than anyone we currently have. I am just excited that something is finally getting done about this. :P
Either that or someone could contact an admin... but I don't know if the situation has gotten to that point yet.

Hey all, I haven't really been active on this site at all, but I, along with some help from pimdegoedste, have discovered a 10 second time save in the low% category, involving a route improvement. In this route, you take a forced death in 5-1 to change the vine cycles, allowing you to skip the Piranha Plant fight. The vines still work out with 5-4 and the ghost house as well. Low% isn't a very seriously taken category anyways, but maybe this will direct some popularity towards it. :P
